Two very unorthodox guitarists here - Otis Rush on right-handed strung guitar played upside-down left handed, and Anthony Palmer, a self-taught guitarist who nobody showed how to tune a guitar, so he did them all to the fifth fret. That means his open B string is in C, and his top E is an F! Pick up his guitar to have a noodle and you're in for a big surprise. 😄
This is how it's done! Just magical. Slow burning blues! Just brilliant! RIP, Otis. U r the best, u r a legend. Thank u for all yr amazing contributions! U r an absolute Star! We miss u!!! Why did u leave us?
I met Otis before a show in NYC, he was telling me how his tour bus had broken down/ spoke to me as if we were life long friends- This was 1986 at Trammps/ same year as this video. I can go to my grave having met my blues idol. RIP "MY FRIEND."
I LOVE OTIS RUSH. I WISH HIM THE BEST AS HE CONTINUES TO RECOVER FROM HIS 2004 STROKE. ONE OF THE BEST BLUES MUSICIAN OF ALL TIMES. ALL MY LOVE, MISS YOU AND WISHING YOU A TOTAL RECOVERY.
Too bad blues is not about the guitar. That's just his accessory to him singing the blues. But you wouldn't know anything about that because you THINK you know about blues but you don't. All you know is the pentatonic scale. There's a lot of you people who think just because you can play "blues guitar" (whatever that means) that it makes you a blues man. No. You're an enthusiast you don't know blues. You live no blues. You're a white guy who loves the sound of guitar. This music is our souls being beared. Heart and ssoul.not just guitar kicks you loser. You're a poser. You and all the rest of your kind
@@BarbButler Yeah? You got to see Otis at Chicago Blues too. I remember that night because there was another man at the other end of the bar who kind of looked like Otis and was wearing the same hat. I asked the bartender to buy him a drink the bartender and him must have found that amusing. the guy waited till he was halfway through his drink to come up and thank me at which point I realized I just bought a stranger a drink. I admit I was a little peeved and it must have shown on my face cause that man bought me the next round. LMAO 🤣 but looking back those were good times. I'm 60 now and I remember thinking I was starting to get old at 40. I would give anything to be 40 again !! LOL. ♥️
@@Santiago-hg6hk That’s a great story!! Those were definitely the good old days!! I regret some of the shows I missed @ Chicago B.L.U.E.S. but I will forever be grateful for the ones I did see! I saw Otis Rush two nights in a row there (circa 1994-1995). Incredible... as you know!! I even went back (by myself, and I was the only female) to wait with all the guys, to talk to him after the last show. I told him I had read that Jimi Hendrix had really wanted to meet him... and did that ever happen? He said, “no, but I wish I would have gotten to meet him”. I was beside myself!! I couldn’t believe I had actually spoken to The Great Otis Rush!!!🥰 😎🥰 Did you ever get a chance to catch any Johnny Copeland shows there? I guess Jeff Beck or Rod Stewart forgot to give Otis credit for this one on the "Truth" album. It's called "Blues DeLuxe" there . . . Nevertheless--Beck ripped it up!
Actually this a BB King lyric, check out BB's "Gambler's Blues." That's who Beck should have credited and paid royalties to. Otis then segues into another King song, "It's My Own Fault."
Strange, this music is for old persons, why dont you listen this now that you are old and listened to this when you where young? What music do you listen now, Linkin Park and Justin Bibier?
Wow, after 7 months :D Well, it seams that has been a misunderstanding, i thought that you "where" listening to this music and you dont listen to it anymore today. Otis is in fine form here, one of the most subtly amazing, unflashy players ever. The other guy sorta overdoes it, no? Not that he's bad, but I want more Otis, less him.

Left handed guitars were (are) rare and they were expensive. Even today, Gibson offers very few left handed options.
the piano man - he knows what great music is !
Professor Eddie Lusk - check out the video of his Professor's Boogie, with Anthony Palmer (mis-titled as Eddie Palmer) on guitar. It's superb!
