What a showman. I miss him terribly. Wish he'd come public and denounce his past and say something about treatment and retribution and make a comeback tour or album.

I don't have kids but no I of course I wouldn't but I have to say as I felt at THE time of seeing him.It doesn't matter who it is if you like someone and later it turns out they are a paedo you can't rewind time and change your feelings. My feelings toward him now are different but AT the time I thought his show was brilliant.

This was nearly 21 years after we first heard of Gary Glitter. Paul borrowed something from Bolan, Elvis, Iggy Pop and Liberace and added his own, sometimes manic, style, plus something from his previous persona, Paul Raven. On the early records, Mike Leander played all the instruments except for the brass. He bought a cheap electric guitar and dropped the pitch of the strings drastically. That unusual guitar sound, combined with the saxophone, created a unique sound. The drums, of course, were very upfront. Paul's influence on pop, rock and new wave is profound. He is a man, not a god, and he is fallible like everyone else. You can't pretend he never made great music, because he did. The media like to destroy the idols that they make. Don't join in the attacks on Paul. He's a man, just a man. People fail.

Slade, Sweet, Gary Glitter and T Rex. The greatest catchy primal music ever.

He touched something deep in the human psyche, archetypal and inspired. He touched many, unfortunately he also touched innocent children, may God have mercy on his soul.

His voice had gone by this time.
Saw him in Edinburgh around this time - Xmas or Hogmanay show.
Enjoyable enough nostalgia - but his backing singers did much heavy lifting.

His voice was changing.. again a bit gravel Pit voice when he was yelling.
But when he sung oh yes your beautiful & Hello it's good to be back U could hear the tune in his voice was deeper. He did have a throat operation in the 70s0r 80s my aunty told me about it...

It's difficult but have to separate the man's music to what he did. 1st was great music as a person disgusting. Block out who he was and continue to listen to him

32:45 he ruins the feel here by keep asking his audience to raise their hands. When it came to the audience joining in, the house lights should’ve lit them up then off when GG sang. The drums and bass should’ve been louder for the punch. Great songs but he should have choreographed it much better and had the audience eating out of his hands. 😎

He enjoyed doing tours of Vietnam and Cambodia. Free concerts for the children and would sing his youth anthem "Do you wanna touch me there?" and encourage audience participation.

Glitter was never a good singer. He started off in the Boston Showband which was John Rossall's ( Glitterband founder)band. Even back then the then known Paul Gadd had an ego bigger than his talent and insisted on hotel stays whilst the rest of Boston Showband all roughed it. His solo attempts as Paul Gadd 'Tower of Strength' was a flop. After working as a warm up man for 'Ready Steady Go' he was approached by Mike Leander. Leander played ALL instruments on ALL the Bell Label releases apart from Trombone and Saxophone which were provided by John Rossall and Harvey Ellison. In fact Glitter had little to do with the compositions despite the generosity of Leander who allowed Glitter a signwriting credit. Glitter is semi illiterate and only ever rights in caps. What he did have was the ability to distract an audience away from his failings as well as self promotion. I worked with Glitter on his 'Rock Circus' venture and can say he worked hard often rehearsing with a Sony Walkman. But his ego was never far away and we were sworn to secrecy about his baldness, even though we saw him washing his wigs loads of times. Applying glue remover to his head. Fresh glue then plonk the wig on. Finishing touch was foundation and eye liner. a not very pleasant individual. Manipulative and as said an ego the size of Mount Everest.

And having watched glitter band, rossal, shephard, ellison etc, you can see a better talent. Look for glitter band and "cricketers club". So much energy. And rossall "blacpool rock". Rip to shephard, rossall, ellison. Great guys tarnished by paul gadd
