Madden 08 on the Xbox was maybe the best for its time. Beginning with 2004, it was a great game. 2006-2008 on the Xbox was peak. 09-10 was decent.. 11-12 made ZERO progress. 13-15 has been better.
I have to agree with Mattweber32 on the music, the video itself is good though. My personal favorite Madden was Madden 2005. Best soundtrack, pretty good presentation, a fairly realistic season mode, and of course that radio show and the newspaper headlines. I will admit it has a nostalgia filter now, but it will probably always be my favorite.
My two favorite Madden games are 98 on the Saturn, and 09 All Play on the Wii. 98 had a great balance with the defensive and offensive A!, and the motion control(rather anyone believes it or not) on 09 for Wii rock. It gives the game a since of realism even though the graphics are super stylized.

The already irritating and repetitive music becomes a millstone dragging this video down to the level of awfulness that I can't explain. I like the Madden series, but this video did a poor job in translating the fun and enjoyment. I have no excitement for this game anymore.
It's a shame that it evolved away from its original concept of X's and O's giving the player the ability to draw up any offensive or defensive play their imagination could come up with. Today, Madden is just a dumbed down arcade game made for kids and is not really football in any shape or from from the Coach's perspective. It should be renamed to Walter Payton Football, or Troy Aikman Football, but not named after a Coach when there is no ability to draw up plays as a Coach would normally be able to do. EA sucks.
obviously you have not played madden in recent years lmfao! 😂 the old games literally used to be arcade games and now there is actual strategy in the games. you've now got over 20 different types of zone defenses you can call as where the older maddens from 5+ years ago had only 3. you can call all types of offensive and defensive line audibles, you can set individual coverages, make small adjustments and substitutions by the click of a button, momentum is an actual thing in games now, they have added hundreds of types of runs from all formations, they literally have official plays from the official nfl playbooks, the game is ridiculously realistic in every aspect these days.. the fact you have the audacity to say it's being dumbed down to an arcade game is absolutely atrocious. I know someone with every single madden ever created and the realism every year for the past 3 years has been absolutely amazing. The game play is very technical and you actually have to be able to read defenses and set up plays offensively, not just call random plays like an idiot. lol get lazy and call the same play twice in a row or more than 3 times on a drive and watch your whole drive crumble.. not the games fault, simply incompetence of the play caller themselves. The coaching aspect of the game is my favorite, wish it was more in depth like nba2k and the fifa games. but it's more realistic than it has ever been and there is nothing arcade about it.

Plus I don't think troy Aikman should ever be the madden name. He is a cowboy addict, whenever a game with two completely different teams is played he always brings up the cowboys. Walter Payton on the other hand would be a better choice.
