@Colemancampfire
best tent explanation ever . only talks about what non-professional people really want to know first. Especially the condensation part. Thanks a lot
You're welcome. I hope the guide helps you break it down a little easier so that you can pick an awesome tent!!!
This was the most informative video on tents I've ever seen
Awe thanks. I appreciate the feedback 😊
I watched many tent videos the last days ....This is the best at explaining the whole condensation thing understandibly. Thank you!
I really appreciate the feedback, thank you!
You are one of my faves. When you threw that pop up tent...I laughed so hard. Your intellect coupled with humor makes your info easy and enjoyable to consume.
Thanks so much!!! I appreciate the positive feedback for sure!!!
As someone who lives in the southwest (Arizona), I think the type of tent you get depends on the specific area you'll be camping in. Yes, we are known for our hot summers, but the fall and winter can get surprisingly cold. The entire state is surprisingly dry, but condensation can still be an issue if you're not prepared for it. You definitely want good ventilation. Not only to prevent condensation, but also if you're going to camp in the summer, it can get quite hot. However, if you're camping in the colder months, that's something to consider, too. I'd prefer a tent that has plenty of ventilation, AND lots of zippable windows so you can zip them up to retain as much heat as you need. Arizona's terrain is varied and so is the climate. So your tent needs may be different depending on whether your camping in the deserts or the mountains. Just something to keep in mind.
We camped out in New Mexico and ran into cold temps at night and hot temps during the day. It was mid November so the nights got quite chilly so I can relate!
True!
Condensation comes from the tenters’ breath, not so much from the environment. If the tent is not great quality and the seams have not been sealed moisture most definitely will get in. But condensation is from moisture in breath
I always like your videos. You aren’t annoying. I hope you take that as the huge compliment it was meant to be.
Keep them coming!
That's amazing! I know what you are talking about... I appreciate that!
Thanks for this helpful video! I myself bought a pop up cabin tent, and j disagree that the size in storage and transport is "large". Perhaps it's all relative, but the whole reason I bought this tent is because ny Gazelle T4+ is just too much. It's too heavy, takes up an enormous amount of space, is difficult to set up by yourself without damaging, and just generally too much! Great tent, just overkill. Thanks again!
I am so glad I found your channel. I'm homeless getting ready to set up my camp next week. I needed to see this video so I have a good idea on what to get. I'm 6,5 so a cabin tent makes sense. I'm aiming to survive winter in Nebraska. What would you recommend? I need to be warm and survive all the snow.
Wow!!! Prayers answered by you. Thank you so much!!! Completely turned us around from what we were going to purchase. Now we’ll look into Dome style. You saved us more than just money. Again… thank you. 💕
Let me know how that works out!!!!
Great video. Thank you for the information, exactly what I was looking for
very informative especially for non-professional camper like us. Thanks for sharing.
I re-watched this to help me decide which of the several tents that I own to take with me on an upcoming trip. I decided to bring my 4P cabin vs my 6P dome (I can stand up in both of them) since my cabin tent has steel poles vs. the fiberglass ones on my 6P, and easier solo setup with my cabin tent. I will be bringing my 2P bike-packing tent (aluminum poles) for in-transit overnight camping and as a backup.
That's a good plan! Good luck!!!
Awesome video!! I have a camped for 30+ years and have camped in all types of tents. Now I am getting into tunnel/airbeam tents from the uk. They are huge and built with extreme weather in mind. Looking to get my tunnel tent this summer. Happy camping!!
Let me know how it works out! I've been curious about those!!!
Very helpful! Thanks!
Great review. You covered many of the concerns people have when choosing a tent. Good job. See you on the next one.
This has been such a great resource for me when choosing what type of tent I want to use for car camping. You have a new subscriber! Thanks!
I'm glad I could help! What style did you end up deciding on?
@@LoneCrowAdventures Coleman dome tent. I also watched your Coleman Sundome review and noticed that it did fairly well in rough weather. I don't go camping if I am expecting any real rain so an inexpensive dome tent should be just the ticket for me. Thanks!
Great video! Very informative and thoughtful on the differences between types, styles and uses of tents.
Thanks so much. I thought it might be good to get a guide together gor goljs at the beginning of the season.
I was just looking at the lifespan of a tent and And stumble upon your channel I went on a cold weather camping trip this weekend And my tent flooded.
Oh no!!!!
I just found your channel while looking at tents and I’m glad I did. Great information and I appreciate you showing the set up especially being a short woman myself.
Lol the world is designed for tall people!!!
Great overview of tents! Currently looking for a family tent for taking the family for first camping... don't want to overspend in case the family isn't as into the wilderness as I hope...
I sure hope they are !!!!
This is very informative especially the pros and cons.
Awe. Thanks I appreciate it greatly
Thank you for putting this vid together. Sooooo insightful for beginners like me.
I own a ozark trail tent I set it up where I live aka Utah I set it up where rocks are not in the way I had it for nearly 4 years
I had one for a very long time as well!
The last time I was in a tent was during my Military years in the mid to late 80s. I ordered a pop-up 3-4 person tent from Amazon that's coming Friday. I live in Pittsburgh, and I've been feeding Squirrels in my area for 24 months so far. I just want to use it during the daytime to hang out with them in their area for a couple of hours. Thanks for the informative video! BTW, you gotta new subscriber!!
Awesome stuff!!! Go Steelers!!!!! I'm thinking Kenny's gonna rock it this year!!!!
That was a good and thorough presentation, thanks !
Thanks so much 🙏
We're going to Pickwick Tennessee

Very educational. Thank you!

I always enjoy your videos. You explain things very well.
Awe! Thanks for the super compliment!!!!
Great info. Thank you!
Thanks so much for the feedback 😀
Samantha great information on tents and there uses. As an older camper 56 my wife and I like our
Tent=cot best tent ever. Stay safe my friend
My father-in-law has been talking nonstop about tent cots all year. I'll have to try one out!!!
@@LoneCrowAdventures I have the Kamp-Rite Compact Tent Cot Double and love it you should check one out think you will be happy.
@@Love2Wander I've heard of that one. I will check it out this summer hopefully. Thanks for the suggestion!!!!
Thanks for the info.
You're welcome 😊
@@LoneCrowAdventures :)
Good stuff, enjoying this new style of editing!
Thanks! We have so much snow here (Northwrn Wisconsin) that I can't get out to film new footage just yet. Got another 3 inches of snow just yesterday!
Great video, how important is a ground tarp/foot print? I recently bought the Coleman 6 person instant tent and can't determine if the ground tarp is necessary for dry weather only camping.
If you know for sure it's going to be dry you'll be fine. If the temp is dipping at night a ground cloth may prevent some condensation build up at night. To be honest, unless it's going to rain I don't use one.
I need special use tent. Using as momentary workplace. Floor size enough (9 m2) to work and have standing height. All that at easy carry size and small storage.
I'd go with a cabin tent in this instance
Super helpful! Thanks for the tips!
Your welcome. I hope this really helps you out!!!!
I think I’m going to love my Nemo Aurora Highrise tent I just purchased. It’s like a dome tent with vertical walls. This was very informative thank you.
That tent is super cute!!!! The use of those horizontal bars makes a big difference for spaciousness on the inside. I have a tent that is very similar in design, the Unigear Space Dome 2. I love it!!!
@@LoneCrowAdventures I just saw your video. I was thinking it’s very similar. Hope it holds up as my other beloved dome tents. Take care
Awesome reviews, thank you!
Thanks so much!!!!
Hugely informative video. Thanks so much!😊
I appreciate that. Thanks!
Thanks for such great videos! What do you think about inflatable tents?
My instinct is to avoid them but I've honestly never tries one and have been curious about how well they work, especially after multiset ups and take downs 🤔
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you very informative!!
You're welcome. Thanks for watching 👀
I really want to try a pop up tent not for me but for my kids. They "camp" at home all the time. Theres literally a tent sent up in our living room right now. I think they'd like it and it would be quick to set up and take down
It's the perfect tent for kids. They probably need a grown up to help fold it back up when it's time to put it away.
Great video!
Thanks! I appreciate the feedback
..cool video keep up the great content.. Thank you….
You betcha! Thanks for tuning in!
@@LoneCrowAdventures Thank you very mutch... have a nice day.... see you….
Thanks!
I appreciate it! Thanks so much!!!!
Good info. Do one of Kodiak big tent with wood stove please.
I'd love to test that tent!!!
Woo! New video!
Thanks for coming back 'round!!!!
What’s the best tent for the north east?
Thank you this was very helpful! As a first timer from the desert I'll definitely look into your recommendations. Are there any tents you would recommend for under $200?
Sure, how many people are you planning on camping with for your trip? (Its helpful to know the size of tent you are looking for).
@@LoneCrowAdventures 2 people and 2 medium sized dogs.
I like the Coleman 6-person or 8-person Evanston style of dome tent because I want to be able to set my camp chair in the shade or under cover when it rains in the tent's porch. I used the 4-person style for over ten years, but it was not quite tall enough for me to stand up in. I believe I could stand up (6'-0") in the 6-person, but certainly in the 8-person variety. Today it is selling for under $120. The skeeter net is just a bonus for me, I only need the shade/cover offered by the extension of the dome to the front. Either one will sleep 2 adults on separate cots. I used the 4-person tent as a single for me and my cot.
What brand name and model cabin tent do you recommend?
Hi Samantha hi Warden, do ya recommend using different spikes for the Coleman 10 person instant cabin tent
Then the ones it came with happy camping
If I were using this tent I would opt for deeper ones, perhaps that have a triangular shape instead a rounded
Awesome video
I appreciate it!
ty
Great videos
Thank you so much 💓
This is going to sound…. Well about right for a Texan, but at the end you left Texas off! Does that mean we can just use anything down here?! I’m really thinking we’d like the cabin style best for the head room, but worried about the condensation because we can have pretty variable tents and strange weather.
When I camped in Texas we used a dome tent, mostly due to the high winds in the Guadalupe Mountains which is where we were camping. Texas doesn't seem to have near the humidity of the midwest or the northeast so I think you'd be happy with a cabin tent so long that it's not going to be super windy. Those Guadalupe Mountains can produce mega winds!
@@LoneCrowAdventures thanks so much!
BUUU Baaam!!! LOVE IT!
Thanks for the enthusiastic sound effects!!!!! That's my pop up sound! Lol!
Great video! I like the Coleman 6 person pop-up tent, except it doesn’t have an electrical access port. Is there an aftermarket one that can be installed?
If your handy with a sewing machine I'm sure you could. I'd just leave the zipper unzipped a bit in the corner of the door personally.
I chose a Gazelle which sadly was not re viewed. As an older camper, standing inside the tent, not crawling in and being able to assemble and disassemble quickly were important to me. What are your thoughts about the Gazelle T4?
I want a Gazelle quite badly actually. They have a great design and are on my list of tents I'd love to own. Looks very solid too. How has yours held up?
well-produced video and good guidance but as far as dome tents go, they make domes as instant set-up now also. depending on which tent style you choose, the ease of set-up should not be a factor. all of these main styles of tents are manufactured in easy set-up varieties.
That is true the gazelle and even coleman makes a quick set up dome tent now
This Friday gonna buy a tent and and camp by the bridge by my work straight junke 😂
Good luck!!!!
As far as dome tents taking high winds: when these tents are made with affordability in mind, the fiberglass poles can snap under high wind conditions.
Yes this is true. I prefer DAC aluminum poles for this very reason!!!
I have an extremely loose term for what is considered a house. I consider anything you live in a house so a tent is a house. You can easily purchase a $5,000 tent house and you’ll save $395k (98.75% off discount) compared to purchasing a $400k detached family house. Even a cave in which no one pays money for is also a house.
What would you recommend for rain?
A done tent with a peak to ground rainfly for sure.
Still not sure what tent would be good. I don't want to be crawling into a tent but I want a tent that can handle wind since the grand kids and I may camp at Carlyle lake in flat Illinois. Notoriously windy.
We spent about 5x years in Peoria so I've used all 3x types of tents. I like the dome style tent the best for Illinois mainly due to the wicked thunderstorms that can pop up. I always look for a peak to ground rainfly. My personal favorite tent is the Big Agnes Flying Diamond 6. It is a dome tunnel style and you don't have to crouch to get in it. I'll send the link so you can check it out but they discontinued the model 2x years ago. It's a good launch pad to start from though. amzn.to/3IPLgyW
This is the most similar model to my flying diamond 6 that I was able to find. It is a new release for 2022 and I haven't tried it but I own 2x big agnes tents and both are awesome 😎 www.bigagnes.com/Bunk-House-6
Hi, awesome organization: I have a Coleman 8 cabin, in pristine condition. Now, that kids are adults, I need to size down. ⭐🌝 Or just keep it?
If it's in great shape no need to size down unless you find it difficult to set up since it's so big. It's probably big enough for a card table in there if it's raining! If it's still working I'd keep rolling with it!
@@LoneCrowAdventures ya good plan maybe ill get a second low cost 2 man dome for portability, but don't like pricing of lighter ones. I'm not a backpacker yet.
is there a dome-tent on the market that's easy to get into and out of like the cabin tents? this would be for 2 people at most.
I recommend you look at the Coleman 8-person Evanston dome tent. It is tall enough to stand up in so you don't have to crawl in the door.
I agree with this recommendation
Midwest and wind *shudder*
Midwest has some wicked storms
The music in this video is insanely well done. Not really something I'd expect from a educational video
Thanks so much for noticing ☺️ I did put a lot of time into this video and the little details like that make all the difference 😀
Hi, the Wenzel Klondike 8 person tent is basically a two room tent. It has a front room that acts as a screened in porch with a completely enclosed (sealed on the sides, top, and bottom, accessed through a zippered door) sleeping area. This, to me, is a perfect layout. The problem is it's not an instant tent, and the screen area is lower than the sleeping area. Is there a tent out there that has those features but an instant tent with the same height across the tent?
I'm not aware of any instant tents with large screen rooms because most of them rely on shock cord poles that are arched to support screen rooms.
@@LoneCrowAdventures Hi, thanks for replying. I did find the perfect tent, but of course they don't seem to make it anymore. The Coleman Instant Up Cabin Gold 8 has/had what I'm looking for. Perfect layout. I wonder why they don't make it anymore?
Did you try to pack the popup tent, 🙈🙈🙈
Yeah, that's super easy once you have a system. I made a quick guide here for folks having issues: th-cam.com/video/aevzDEXtym4/w-d-xo.html
those loops are NOT aluminum, they are spring steel......
Spring steel. Interesting. I learned something new!!!
11:49 spider?
Ah!!!!! Yes that was a black widow!!!!
The family 😂tent is so big, I have to leave some kids at home because there is not place for them in the car.
Camping with no kids! Bring it on!
I know guide lines…not familiar with “guy” lines?
I learned something!!!
Guy lines are those ropes that help to provide stability to the tent in wind and rain. Guidelines are sets of protocols or recommended procedures in organizations. Example. Following the recommended guidelines. Guy lines support tents!
*Who expects tents to work correctly anywayz. I just go to Home Depot and buy large* *contractor trash bags, a broom stick and some duct tape and off I go!!*
Omg! Hilarious!!!!!
We have the Coleman 10 person instant cabin tent we only go car camping 🏕️🥾
Car camping is fun!
