I just received my Alphs-Stim from the VA. I had to go through a training session before I qualified to use it. The problem is that it took 3 months to arrive after the VA got one on order for me. I've forgotten everything they taught me. I'm 77 so my memory is bad enough. I hope this video will refresh my memory. Thanks for posting it.
It would be great if you guys could make videos showing how to do treatments yourself. My spine has nerve damage injured in the 1st Gulf War and the VA has had me on medications. It would be great to have another option but I don't always have someone around to help. My pain is from lower lumber to upper cervical and migraines. A friend of mine got a AlphaStim from VA Tampa, I am going to try and get one 'prescribed' when I go to Ortho tomorrow. Videos showing how to do self-treatments would be extremely helpful.
Thank you for the feedback! We will work on some videos showing how someone can perform a treatment on their own back. The protocol and steps are the same, you are simply holding the probes instead of someone else holding them. It can be tricky to do a small star pattern on certain places on your own back, but as long as you're drawing a line through the pain from one probe to the other, you'll be treating the area. Yes, Alpha-Stim is FDA cleared to treat anxiety, insomnia, and depression through application of the earclips. The Alpha-Stim M device includes earclips as well as Smart Probes and AS-Trode self-adhesive electrodes. The Alpha-Stim AID includes just earclips for treatment of mood and sleep.
Some probe protocols can be done by yourself, but you can also use AS-Trode self adhesive electrodes as another treatment option. We have more how-to videos available at www.alpha-stim.com/training.
Will this help with spasm and muscle tightness through whole body? Is it safe during protracted withdrawal from Benzodiazepines taken for spasm and tightness?
Alpha-Stim is FDA cleared for acute, post-traumatic, and chronic pain, no matter the source. It is safe to use in conjunction with medications and other treatments. The only contraindication is implanted devices that cannot be turned off, such as a pacemaker, and during pregnancy (as we do not have studies proving the safety).
