During his weekly press conference, AP was asked by a beat reporter if anyone was going to be held out of the game against Dallas. AP said that everyone will be playing in the game. Then a follow up question was asked if that included the starters. AP said yes, everyone including the starters were going to play in Dallas. The beat writers then asked another follow up question on if Davante was going to play in the game. (This was right after Davante had missed almost 2 weeks of training camp out in California while Davante was in Vegas waiting for his son to be born. He had just gotten back with the team a few days prior to the press conference) The beat writers asked about Davante specifically because they assumed that Davante wouldn’t be playing in the game because he had just missed so much time in camp. AP responded that Davante would be playing in Dallas. The beat writers then had an interview with Davante in the locker room & they told Davante that AP had said he was playing in the Dallas game. Davante proceeded to make a face & do a mini eye roll & said that he hadn’t played in a preseason game since 2016 and that if it was up to him, he wouldn’t be playing in Dallas. The next press conference with AP, the beat writers brought it up again & told AP what Davante had said. AP doubled down & said that Davante would play in the game, but this time he added the caveat “if he is healthy”. Davante didn’t play in Dallas due to “soreness”. That was how the dumpster fire got started. The second stage was that Davante preferred Aidan O’Connell to be the starter over Gardner Minshew, but Minshew was named the week 1 starter. That got the flames in the dumpster burning even hotter. It became a 5 alarm blaze after the blowout loss to Carolina. AP’s “business decisions” remark after the game was aimed directly at 2 players…. Davante & Jack Jones. The punishment would be sitting out the 1st Quarter of the next game versus the Browns. Jack Jones took the punishment like a man and was on the bench for the 1st Quarter and played the rest of the game. Davante decided to take a different approach. He asked to be traded after he learned that he would be sitting on the bench for the 1st Quarter of the Browns game. In his locker room speech to the team after the win against the Browns, AP addressed the team and acknowledged how tough a week it had been & referenced how nobody was smiling in the building until Friday. Telesco & the agent decided they would keep it quiet and call it a “hamstring injury” in order for Davante to save face & to give the Raiders time to negotiate behind the scenes & get a good price in a trade with the team Davante preferred to go to. (J-E-T-S- JETS JETS JETS) AP had other plans & liked the Instagram post in order to speed up the process of getting Davante shipped out of town A.S.A.P. When Kay Adams asked Davante about AP liking the Instagram post, Davante said he didn’t know what that was all about & that he hadn’t spoken to AP. A few hours after the Kay Adams interview, it was officially announced that Davante had asked to be traded. Suffice it to say that AP is more than happy to move on from Davante & the feeling is mutual for Davante. It would be poetic justice if they traded him to Carolina, but he’ll be a Jet soon. Then the NFL will get a Rogers vs Mahomes AFC Championship game to decide who will represent the AFC in the Super Bowl. They probably won’t trade him to a team in their own division. Although it would be hilarious if they traded him to the Chargers for Khalil Mack after the Chargers basically called Davante trash in their Schedule release video. It could be fun watching him have to run block 40 times a game for Harbaugh. Or if they sent him to Denver and he would get to catch passes from Bo Nix. Just don’t send him to KC, Telesco! This didn’t just happen out of the blue.
It all started the week of the 2nd preseason game prior to the Raiders playing in Dallas.
During his weekly press conference, AP was asked by a beat reporter if anyone was going to be held out of the game against Dallas. AP said that everyone will be playing in the game. Then a follow up question was asked if that included the starters. AP said yes, everyone including the starters were going to play in Dallas. The beat writers then asked another follow up question on if Davante was going to play in
the game. (This was right after Davante had missed almost 2 weeks of training camp out in California while Davante was in Vegas waiting for his son to be born. He had just gotten back with the team a few days prior to the press conference) The beat writers asked about Davante specifically because they assumed that Davante wouldn’t be playing in the game because he had just missed so much time in camp. AP responded that Davante would be playing in Dallas.
The beat writers then had an interview with Davante in the locker room & they told Davante that AP had said he was playing in the Dallas game. Davante proceeded to make a face & do a mini eye roll & said that he hadn’t played in a preseason game since 2016 and that if it was up to him, he wouldn’t be playing in Dallas.
The next press conference with AP, the beat writers brought it up again & told AP what Davante had said. AP doubled down & said that Davante would play in the game, but this time he added the caveat “if he is healthy”.
Davante didn’t play in Dallas due to “soreness”. That was how the dumpster fire got started.
The second stage was that Davante preferred Aidan O’Connell to be the starter over Gardner Minshew, but Minshew was named the week 1 starter. That got the flames in the dumpster burning even hotter.
It became a 5 alarm blaze after the blowout loss to Carolina. AP’s “business decisions” remark after the game was aimed directly at 2 players…. Davante & Jack Jones.
The punishment would be sitting out the 1st Quarter of the next game versus the Browns. Jack Jones took the punishment like a man
and was on the bench for the 1st Quarter and played the rest of the game.
Davante decided to take a different approach.
He asked to be traded after he learned that he would be sitting on the bench for the 1st Quarter of the Browns game.
In his locker room speech to the team after the win against the Browns, AP addressed the team and acknowledged how tough a week it had been & referenced how nobody was smiling in the building until Friday.
Telesco & the agent decided they would keep it quiet and call it a “hamstring injury” in order for Davante to save face & to give the Raiders time to negotiate behind the scenes & get a good price in a trade with the team Davante preferred to go to. (J-E-T-S- JETS JETS JETS)
AP had other plans & liked the Instagram post in order to speed up the process of getting Davante shipped out of town A.S.A.P.
When Kay Adams asked Davante about AP liking the Instagram post, Davante said he didn’t know what that was all about & that he hadn’t spoken to AP.
A few hours after the Kay Adams interview, it was officially announced that Davante had asked to be traded.
Suffice it to say that AP is more than happy to move on from Davante & the feeling is mutual for Davante.
It would be poetic justice if they traded him to Carolina, but he’ll be a Jet soon. Then the NFL will get a Rogers vs Mahomes AFC Championship game to decide who will represent the AFC in the Super Bowl.
They probably won’t trade him to a team in their own division. Although it would be hilarious if they traded him to the Chargers for Khalil Mack after the Chargers basically called Davante trash in their Schedule release video. It could be fun watching him have to run block 40 times a game for Harbaugh.
Or if they sent him to Denver and he would get to catch passes from Bo Nix. Just don’t send him to KC, Telesco! For the love of all that’s good & holy! Anywhere but there!
