Sometimes if you have the roster to make it deep and you just need one more player to make that difference then it makes sense to willing to give up short term capital to win it all.
I mean, they made the playoffs and almost beat the lions 2 years later. The year after the SB was when they brought in Baker Mayfield. They def wouldnt have won the SB with Goff though.

Raiders haven't hosed anyone in decades in a trade. They're the worst drafting team around. It's an almost guarantee that their next draft will result in multiple busts, underachievers, overdrafted players. One could argue the last draft but with the way things are going Pierce is canned after the season if not after next week. The window of opportunity is generally short and you must strike now. It may be a 1 year deal but Beckham was traded in a similar fashion and won a ring.
