The current iteration of the Carbon Stealth from PSE uses a more bulky grip due they removed the reinforcement bridge from the old one (which has a more narrow section), is a sacrifice they need to do to keep the stiffness (imo looks better than the older). Carbon fiber is usually used in layers (albeit brands as Lamborghini makes forged carbon fiber), so the chassis is usually hollow. The Stealth uses a monocoque riser filled with foam designed to absorb vibrations, whereas the RX3 uses aluminum tubes covered by layered carbon fiber. That's why is heavier. But heavier doesn't necesary mean worse: weight helps to reduce vibrations and sound, and in target/3D people use compound bows with "heavy" aluminum risers to improve the stability and reduce the "float" (the same reason low let offs are used in competition). At the end of the day is a personal choice: a lighter bow helps with endurance in ground hunting whereas a more heavy and quieter bow gives more stability and could be prefereable in tree stands. But is a personal. Nice review, was interesting to known about the differences in vibration and noise.
Great video. Enjoy the comparison videos you have done. Really like the comparison of draw cycle and let down. Did you end up buying a new bow this year or just testing?
Well, not really, cause it's the shape. However, the new ones for 2020 have a fantastic grip! They really fixed that problem. Check out my 2020 Bow Battle vid to see them.
Add weight to the PSE with sound deadening and I'm sure it would be quieter with less vibration then the Hoyt at less weight. My PSE Evolve 31 weighs the same as the Hoyt RX3 and my PSE React is about a pound lighter. Added a PSE roller guide on the React and good components HHA 5019, QAD hdx and it's a beautiful set up for far less then a bare Hoyt. PSE grips are built for consistency. I found the Hoyt a little too round on the edges. If you need the name, go for it. Just another $800.00 I have better things to spend it on, like hunting trips.
Thanks Noah. What was the draw length you tested them at? I'm curious to see how they vary at different draw lengths. I was really surprised what disparity there was, even in just a one inch change. It helped me understand why opinions vary so much. As always, thank you for watching and commenting.
Yeah. That's helpful to know. Amazing how much of a difference draw length makes in the draw cycle feel. Like with the Bowtech SR6, at lower draw lengths it is nothing short of amazing...but at longer ones it is pretty harsh. Thanks Noah.
@M.J. Green i Can fully Agree with you , you can't get better then Hoyt . And the pse looks really shity with the solid riser i've been shooting bowtech over 6 years and got me a Hoyt.... i'll never shoot a diffrent brand bow other the Hoyt .
Hard to tell but it looks like the Hoyt was on the shortest setting of the cam for draw length. I know by experience that a number 2 cam at 3 and a number 3 cam at 30 is like 15fps difference based on efficiency. Not surw where the pse was on its cam but that could make a huge difference
Thanks for sharing that James. This was two years ago, so I really can't remember...but I think I'd answered some questions about that in this comment section if you look thru them.
I def watch all your videos because I appreciate honest outlooks on these bows like you do, but no reason a carbon bow should ever be over 4#, but seems like all the companies are making heavy bows to get rid of vibration and noise but I really like a bow at 4# or under bare personally
hunterdka I should do that. I got the meter after that Bow Battle. In one sense the human ear doesn’t matter much cause deer hear on a different sound spectrum than humans. But who doesn’t want a quiet bow.
Right? It was weird how blocky it was. I would imagine I'd get used to it, but it wasn't my favorite. Thanks for watching and commenting; I really appreciate it.
Mac Macca I said the actual bow length. The ATA is 34 for the Hoyt and 35 for the PSE but the cams, at rest, make the PSE actually a 3” longer bow. It’s good to know for maneuverability.
@@toadamine I'm pretty sure every 10 dB is doubling the loudness, which is what you actually perceive as volume. Sound is weird because there are multiple ways to quantify it, depending on if you are looking at sound intensity level, sound pressure level, or perceived loudness level. Either way, the PSE is definitely louder though.
Yeah. Yep. The Ultra is listed at 4.1 lbs, just .2 lbs more than the normal RX3, but it felt quite a bit heavier than that, and at least on our scale came in about half a pound heavier.
John L gotcha I haven’t talked to Hoyt or anything about it but when I got my rx3 my bowtech said they made them a little heavier on purpose to help with hand vibration and stability.
Yeah, that's what I was figuring. Mathews tried it last year and it seemed to sell well, so I think a lot of others are following that logic. It only matters to me when I am chasing elk in the Colorado mountains. Otherwise, the weight is not a problem for me.
You can tell your a hoyt fan boy U did not even mention the valley on pse bow. Ive shot both and i like hoyt matthews and pse dont prefer any brand over other The valley in the carbon air is not even in comparison to the hoyt u have to physically push it to get it to come off the valley The fact you didnt even mention that shows ur bias and you shouldnt be doing bow reviews at all. Nothing worse than watching a bow review with someone who cant even give an honest review
Well thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. I am really not a Hoyt Fan Boy. I don't even own a Hoyt, so not sure why you got that opinion. Just tried to be honest with the reviews. Actually, I was impressed with the PSE.

Buran01 Thank you! What great comments. I appreciate you watching my vid and adding such helpful info. Thanks bro.
However, is not just a bit misleading from Hoyt to call an aluminum-carbon riser,...carbon riser.
I checked out both of those also... I didn't like either one as much as my 2017 Carbon Air 34... It has an awesome grip...

Do you thing the grip on the Mach 1 would be improved with grip tape or racquet ball grip wrap?

The pse imo drew waaaaaaaaaaay better , and the grip is a non issue when drawing or at full draw

Both at 29 inches

Josh Feister They have all been moving toward heavier weights recently; These things always ebb and flow. I prefer a lighter bow as well.

Never held a rx1 or rx3, but just recently held a Pse carbon stealth. That thing is stupid light but like you said the grip felt bulky
Right? It was weird how blocky it was. I would imagine I'd get used to it, but it wasn't my favorite. Thanks for watching and commenting; I really appreciate it.
@34 seconds the sub title says PSE is 3 inches longer? PSE 35 Hoyt 34? did I miss something......lost me there

Sebastian Hettervik The PSE site is incorrect on their info. The Stealth SE is definitely 35” axel to axel.
@@JohnLuskOutdoors ok cool ! good to know i like longer ata bows :)

Sir ,stay with your Spyder that’s a great bow !

hoyt is # 2 or 3 cam??
Good question. I forgot to say...again! #2 cam.

4 decibels is more than twice as loud... every three decibels is a doubling in volume...
Well, I had forgotten that. Interesting. It sure did sound louder. Thanks for the comment!

pretty sure sound is a logarithmic function so then power of ten to double and then double again.
The pse just looks very shity , compared to the Hoyt... Theres a reason Hoyt is #1 selling worldwide _ just get serious and get HOYT ...
Well, yeah, the Hoyt's are nice. But PSE is catching up. The Carbon Stealth in 2020 is fantastic!
We all know that heavier bow will be less noise and less vibration.
Yep. Thanks for watching and commenting. Much appreciated. Hope you can check out some of my other broadhead test vids or bowhunting vids as well :)
The Hoyt should be heavier. It is not pure carbon. It is alloyed wrapped in carbon.
Yep. That's correct. And heavier it is.
The rx3 is the ultra so it weighs more. The standard rx3 weighs 3.9 lbs
