    ...also the recommended gears may differ dependig on the car. It might be necessary to shift down to 1st instead of 2nd and 2nd instead of 3rd. For example with Aston Martin or Jaguar due to their longer gear ratios in the lower gears.

    9 hours into playing ACC. Your guide just helped me get from a 1:55.9 fastest time with an average in the 1:57's (if I could string consistent laps together) to a 1:54.4 best and an average of 1:54.9 with little/no issue in terms of crashing out. Keep up the great work

    Now this is a completely normal solid lap. Everything looks perfect. What it don't get is how there are people who do 1:45s by stopping at least 50m later, full on brakes and no ABS activation, the car slows down like it hits a wall and then accelerates way faster.

    • @shaneoriordan8988
      @shaneoriordan8988 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe a set up that only lasts one lap, so aggressive that the tyres will be eaten off after a second lap and just enough fuel for one flying lap

    • @andrewfetter4843
      @andrewfetter4843 ปีที่แล้ว

      @shaneoriordan8988 Na more likely it's utilizing the setups in very weird ways to exploit the physics engine in game. Take a look at pro level setups, dampers and shit are all setup extremely counterintuitive in order to get more grip by exploiting bugs in the physics calculations. Which I mean I guess is sorta fair in the sense that a real team is exploiting any loophole in the rules to gain time in their setups and they arent modifing game files, but it also means those top times, while still needing driver skill, are more a testament to setup engineering than true driver skill.

    Thanks for the indepth track guide! I'm just getting into ACC and I can barely do 1:49:6.. after these tips I think I can push it to the 48's. It seems I've been too easy on the Ascari and have been struggling to get a decent entry to Parabolica thus ruining the important exit. Though I was close to your suggestion, just not quite there yet. I realized to use the track crew guy as a full throttle marker on exit, but entry was still a guessing game.

    Thx Yorkie, much appreciated. Only one thing, braking points: I consider myself a mediocre sim racer, yet my braking points are definitely later than shown by you in this guide, I consider your recommendations conservative, especially before the first chicane and into Parabolica. My braking are roughly where you brake in your example lap, where you yourself brake later than in the guide :)
    Looking forward to guides for the other ACC tracks

    • @Yorkie065
      @Yorkie065  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Braking points are actually spot on and what I am looking for when driving. The difference is that when driving them at speed, they feel later than they look due to the sensation of speed and the fov with where they disappear from your screen.
      But thanks 😊 do need to be a little conservative though as not everyone is the same on the brakes.

      I might do a wet lap for the future tracks but they're more tricky to get right and vary a bit more from car to car too. That's why I didn't put a wet lap in for this one and instead just explained which curbs to use and which to avoid as generally that is the same across all cars.

    Thanks. Can I point out please, that looking at the speedo as it cornered on the serrated curb and astroturfing, the car either stopped accelerating , or accelerated at a slower pace with resumption of previous rate of acceleration upon wheels getting back on tarmac. I noticed nico rosberg hot lap say to drive on those curbs as well but what I’m seeing says otherwise. I acknowledge I know little but watch for yourself. This is such a fun track playing f1 ps4. Again, thanks for your video.

    • @Yorkie065
      @Yorkie065  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The "loss in traction" from riding the curbs is generally going to be pretty minimal if you can ride them right and transfer the power in the right way. The advantage to riding on the curb is the extra room you get coming off the corner, you can get on the power a fair bit earlier which is probably going to help you in the long run along the stretch of the circuit to the next braking zone. In the dry, you should be fine to ride it but definitely avoid it in the wet!

    I really struggle with your track guides. You show a photo of the exit or part of the track with no line or direction, so when I am new to a track I completely lose my bearings and have no idea were I am coming from or going to.
    Apart from that they are really useful and very detailed. Maybe a small image when you show a photo showing where the you are on the track and what direction you are travelling.

    I must be doing something completely wrong but I can't seem to discover what.
    I can't do the second chicane in the 2nd gear, no matter what I try I can only do it in 1st, then in the 2 right corners after that chicane I can only do it in ,/the 2nd gear, can't do it in 3rd, finally in Parabolica I can only do it in the 2nd gear instead of 3rd... I tried everything in those corners, if I try to do it one gear above what I do, my car goes super wide and goes outside the track.
    My best time is 1:53:634 and I know that I can't put it under 1:50 because of those gears but I can't understand what I am doing wrong

    Just stumbled on this video after needing a break from iRacing. Awesome stuff. Is there a discord or some severs people play on? All the servers for ACC are on EU and there are only like 1,000 players on total at a time :(

    Great track guide Yorkie.
    Does anyone have the complete list of tracks in Competizione? I have checked the official web page and can find no track listing only images.

    Might be a stupid question but how do you get your head to turn like that?

    Hey i know this is a late comment, but i managed to run a time of 1:49.650 and i struggle to get under the .500 and :49 marks. Some of my laps are prevised to be on the :49.2 mark but i'm over the limit on most of them and get some errors in. I'm driving the track on a Bentley Conti GT3, any advice on it?
    Great content btw, thank you for it.

    I've been in lobbies with people that lap 1:48's at Monza, I have then put in hundreds of laps trying to get my lap times up and I simply cannot get it below 1:51, I cannot find the time anywhere on track, I am the slowest driver by a country mile....

      Not that you'll care Yorkie, but I've done a 1:50.6 in the Bentley today and I am over the moon !

    Hello, I am new to acc and am doing the beginning career mode on fast ai, I try to follow your guide with the late and hard braking, but I’m still 5 seconds slower than a si that brakes at 200m compared to my 150m, and I’m still getting decent exits too. This happens to make in all racing games and really destroys my confidence to try multiplayer, any tips for me? I try to follow your guide to a T.

    Late comment, so you might never see it, but I've watched these videos but can't get my time under 1:56, how do you cut off those last 10 seconds? Maybe I brake slightly too late or don't hit the apexes?

      @Yorkie065  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Without seeing you drive a lap, it's hard to tell for sure. I would work on getting consistent first rather than lap times. If you're using the exact same braking points each lap, you can quickly figure out if you're braking too early or too late and adjust appropriately. The lap times will then start to come to you.
      This video is designed to highlight where / when to be braking, and what reference points you can use so it will be a great way to find the right places to start from and work on consistency.

      @@Yorkie065 Thank you, I'm struggling with consistency (just starting to work on the constency rating), I get over confident if I do a good lap (sub 1:58) at Monza and push it and end up passing a brake point or messing up the speed in a chicane and crashing. It's hard to not push to the max all the time, when my times lower by 1-2 seconds each lap I manage to finish. But then I blow it with a stupid error in a chicane or sharp turn, always :D Then I go back to youtube to watch more videos, and try again until I crash. In my first online race I caused a couple of crashes and was told to uninstall the game in chat lol

    Love the track guides. thank you. Can someone tell me what software you use to convert a saved replay on the game to a video format that you can drop into TH-cam? thanks

      I don't think you can do it directly from the replay file. You'd best capture the replay with some screen capture software like OBS or something.

    I am running 1:55's , now only trying to drive without the visible racing line and being too safe on corners and losing time :(
