The JAEGER-LECOULTRE Reverso Tribute Chronograph revisits and reinvents the ground-breaking Reverso Chronographe of 1996. The earlier piece was one of six special Reversos developed in the space of a single decade, each of them designed around an entirely new expression of the great classical watchmaking complications. Starting in 1991, following the 60th anniversary of the Reverso, these pieces were landmarks in the revival of mechanical watchmaking after the quartz crisis.
The movement of the 1996 Reverso Chronograph, Calibre 829, was not only the first shaped chronograph movement in a rectangular case for Jaeger-LeCoultre but also the first manually-wound integrated chronograph to be developed from scratch in the post-quartz era - a remarkable testament to the Manufacture’s inventiveness and technical prowess.
Adding a fresh chapter to the rich history of complicated calibres conceived and made in the Vallée de Joux, the Reverso Tribute Chronograph is powered by the new Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 860, a fully integrated hand-wound chronograph movement. Entirely designed, produced and assembled within the Manufacture, it is an elegant and creative answer to the challenge of housing circular chronograph timing indications within a rectangular case, while maintaining the clarity and legibility essential for this sporty complication. Moreover, according to Jaeger-LeCoultre’s approach to product integrity, whereby a movement should be shaped according to the case that houses it, the calibre itself also had to be rectangular. The result is a beautifully balanced and highly distinctive dial layout, with a large chronograph seconds display in the upper part of the dial complemented by a retrograde 30-minute indicator on an arc at the base of the dial.
Beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, Calibre 860 incorporates a column wheel chronograph with a horizontal clutch, which was chosen over the more familiar vertical clutch to reduce the overall thickness of the movement. To display hours and minutes on both front and reverse dials, the movement powers two sets of hands that must move in opposite directions to indicate the time in correct clockwise fashion on both faces of the watch. Calibre 860 offers a power reserve of 52 hours, even allowing for the high energy requirement of a retrograde chronograph combined with two time indications. Despite this complexity and no fewer than 300 components, the shaped rectangular movement fully respects Jaeger-LeCoultre’s philosophy of elegance, fitting into a case less than 12mm thick.

JLC's Reverso Chronograph - particularly the example in steel - are utterly captivating! The canvas & leather strap and dial in that grey-ish blue is magnificent! I'm afraid that it's a bit too dear for my budget but I say the world is a better place for them being in it. Congrats to all its buyers and *many thanks* to you Alexander for bringing these lovely little works of art onto your channel. I love all your content but the JLC content is particularly impressive! The most BEAUTIFUL release. I absolutely love JLC especially the reverso! I was there in watches and wonders and i stayed with JLC the longest and those guys making leather straps next to JLC were amazing guys too!

@@WatchAdvisor love all the Reversos. My monoface steel blue dial tribute small seconds for every day, the gold duo for the opera night out..but would live to see a new steel version with the original black dial..but don’t think this is available..yet? Maybe next year…

Yeap I just called in to ask for allocation as I have the cash but was put on wait-list, supposedly there is a list of 400 for North America. 2024 January when the first allocations will start for North America. They have stopped accepting cash deposits, with no ETA on stopping production.
For anyone wondering, the new chronograph reverso measurement is 49.4x29.9, and you are looking at a year, but some of the pink gold ones will be available in December.
2023 allocation are already all sold, was told delivery is end of 2024 if you place a deposit today.
@mebiuspower I ordered the pink gold version from the website and was told they had 2 left to sell. They asked for 30% and congratulated me on a "fine timepiece." I couldn't agree anymore

I have one question about hands and indexes of Chronograph Reverso in gold. If the hands and indexes are finishing in gold but not entirely made out of gold (18k) what are they made of? Are they gold plated?

A beautiful watch and a complication that is a legitimate expression of the Reverso's sporting concept. But! A Reverso should never be so large! The 50x30mm case wears bigger than a Speedmaster, yet such a watch should be understated, unobtrusive: for you and those that know. JLC are master watch makers, but are starting to miss the point of Reverso. It should not just be a canvas for complicated luxury at any size. JLC need to be more creative with dials, materials and waterproofing. And JLC's recent pricing??!!

@@WatchAdvisor I’ve seen photos of it on my wrist size and it looks large. Square watches should wear small to look more elegant.
My favourite brand, the Reverso is an Art Deco masterpiece. Don’t call them the watchmakers watch for nothing.

I'm disappointed with this release. The chronograph is a masterpiece. The other dial is what I have issues with. It is boring and uninspired. A 2 hander? Really? Guess they got tired after all the work they put in on the other side. What should have happened is that they used the new white anthracite with small seconds release as the other face. I can only hope..
Tastes are different! And for me that minimalistic dial is the cherry on the cake...

I think it's nice I can wear it with a suit or at a formal event. And once I flip it I could wear it with a casual outfit. For me it's a nice watch with two personalities.
Unfortunately we live in a world where Rolex and Tudor(which is better than Rolex) appeals to the dumb as F masses. I don't mean to sound superior but we live in a world where perceived quality Rolex, trumps actual quality, JLC, Go, Cartier etc.
Don't complain, cheaper watches for us.
A majority of these aren't interested in their watches at all... it is just an artificial declaration off status... and a dump speculation object... watch aficionados are different!
