The Generals went bankrupt along with the league. Thats when Hershal Walker left the Generals and joined the Cowboys because they drafted him knowing he was going to the generals but they owned his NFL rights. That would lead to the 1989 trade to the Vikings by Jerry Jones and Jimmy Jhonson that rebuilt the Cowboys. Hershal had a no trade clause so Jerry paid him a million to accept the trade. He played for several teams and ended up playing for the Cowboys again.
Drinking problem?!? He had a lot more than a drinking problem. He forgot what day his game was on once while driving past the stadium, saw the lights on, and asked himself "I wonder what is going on in the stadium today?"
Yeah…LT LOOOOVED Cocaine. Loved it! In all forms…I feel like the title of this buried the lead. If it was JUST a ‘drinking problem’ he would have won a couple more Super Bowls. No…it was the coke…dude LOVED cocaine. In all forms. “Son…y’all gotta do better than this…” - LT to Eagles QB
Instead of talking trash to the Eagles, he could've just shut up and played football. All that talk and the Iggles had the last laugh winning 10 out of 12 with a 9 game winning streak against the taylor/simms/parcells/belicheat giants.

@ExemonsterX i never saw that man play in his prime or at his peak but just by watching his highlights on TH-cam I'm very impressed of the effort and he has great acceleration. Lawrence is not just a pass rusher.
@crx122 As you said you don't understand, this era is completely different, LT performed without effort barely worked out abused drugs and still played better than others he also played every position on defense he intercepted a pass intended for Jerry Rice and ran it back for a touchdown, he also has almost 1100 tackles, 66 forced fumbles the most in NFL history in comparison to TJ Watt 400 plus tackles, the althetes playing today aren't even in the same class every position, I know you just began watching football this by making that baseless stray comment😑
@@athleticdocs I'm a journalist by trade, and I am by no means flawless, but if I spell the name wrong of a person I'm quoting throughout a story, many readers will rightfully think: if the writer couldn't get a simple thing like spelling of a name right -- particularly if it were a Hall of Famer and one of the greatest coaches in the history of football -- how else was he lax in his reporting.
@@athleticdocs @athleticdocs ok, you're a guy making videos and not "NFL documentaries" like your profile says. But please take my criticism to heart and I would suggest acknowledging future slipups in the descriptions/comments (yes, no one is flawless and it shows a desire to be accurate. Why do this if you don't care what you're publishing?). You may think you're just making videos on the internet, but people are watching them (like me) thinking they're from a credible, well-informed source. Your video looks good, but a repeatedly mispronounced name like Parcells is like finding a hair in your food at a fancy restaurant. That's all. I wish you the best. Sincerely, Bill Parcells
@@billyhammm We do, but we also spent 2 weeks doing a 20+ documentary about LT, focusing on just him. It's not like finding hair in your food, it's like asking for the best meat possible, being served a great steak but your salad was a bit dull. That's a better metaphor. :)
I don't understand how someone who led the league in sacks ONE TIME in a 13 year career can be considered "the greatest defensive player of all time." He was not good in coverage, he was just a pass rusher basically. So if we compare him to other pass rushers, there are guys with far better production. TJ Watt for example has played only 8 seasons so far, compared to Lawrence Taylor's 13, yet is less than 30 sacks behind Taylor's career total, and has led the league in sacks 3 times already, triple the amount of Lawrence Taylor. This is one example, many other guys performed significantly better. So are we calling him the best ever because of the way he changed the game and his amazing athleticism? If so okay. Production wise, the argument doesn't hold up.
The rules were much different back then in the 80s compared to today. Also, Lawrence Taylor won league MVP. Saying that he has more sacks is not a good argument plus Lawrence Taylor sack didn’t count until the 1982 season as weren’t counted as an official stat until 1982.
@TheSSUltimateGoku 1982 was his second season, and it's well known he had 9.5 his first year, and I included his first year in the numbers I gave. His sack totals are a completely fair judgment of him, his job was to rush the QB. What rules are you referring to from "back then" that made things different for him? I am not denying that he was a great player, and certainly caused big change in the game for blocking schemes. I am however saying the idea that he was the greatest defensive player ever is a huge exaggeration. There have been many guys who were much more productive pass runners than Lawrence was.
Lawrence Taylor is the reason why the sack became a statistics Lawrence Taylor is still the only nfl player to win dpoy and rookie of the year so it's not the sacks he changed the entire landscape of the nfl. Without Lawrence Taylor t.j watt would not have a job
@jimmycharlotin7050 Deacon Jones was the one who popularized it actually; literally coined the term "sack." Just because they started officially recording sacks as a statistic in LT's second year, doesn't mean he was the one responsible for that. 9.5 sacks while a solid season was not anything ground breaking, guys had seasons with far more sacks than that already before he came around. Why would TJ Watt not have a job without LT being in the league? The concept of using a linebacker as primarily a pass rusher was already well established before LT did it.
@crx122 you have to remember before Lawrence there wasn't a pass rushing linebacker. After him look at this list Pat swilling Kevin greene Derrick Thomas Otis Wilson Greg lloyd Demarccus ware James Harrison Khalil mack Von miller T.j watt and don't forget the hall of fame left tackle Willie roaf Jonathan Ogden Orlando pace Walter Jones. No doubt Lawrence Taylor is arguably the goat nfl player ever undisputed game changing player

He literally checked himself to rehab saying he couldn’t even handle it anymore? We went through it in the video as well. “A little crack…” bro was using it daily.

😂❤ love that movie
Waterboy I haven't seen that movie in ah min
The cocaine and underage hookers was more a problem than the drinking
which is crazy because his drinking would have killed a lot of people.
Funny how people will accept abhorrent behavior from exceptional people
I am about to cry while watching this video because this is when REAL football was played. It had meaning.
“Cocaine is a hell of a drug.”
Thanks now all I can think about is how Chappelle would play LTs true Hollywood story

Ol LT #56 is still around thru all the partying year after year his brain is 🔥 however but he still alive thank god
There was a stat which said LT had 33 forced fumbles, however he actually the total was closer to 70 forced fumbles!!!
@@ExemonsterX with Lawrence Taylor is the stats it's strictly the impact he had of the game of football plain and simple
He broke Joe T's leg with a HIP DROP tackle. Good thing they are outlawed now.
