Lol everyone hating on this car in the comments are people who don’t own anything of its magnitude. We have one and it’s amazing. It’s so comfortable and it does everything we want it to do. If can be quick if you need it to be but it can also be very comfortable and refined. The one gripe I have with it is that it does feel a little dated. Especially after we had driven the GLC and an E class. We chose the GLE because we needed the space but the GLS was too big.
It blows my mind that it is 2016 and we still have some vehicles that don't come with standard equipment like backup cameras and remote starts. He's right that for the price you pay the least you could get are features that come with vehicles half the price.
The GLE is perfect for me because its taller and roomier than the glc and the car i have now is in the same style as the glc, but the GLE isnt trying to be too long like a full fledged suv like say a yukon, and its not trying to be a crossover like the gls which has a third row seating, i dont need a third row seat and i dont need a car that tries to compete with minivans, so the GLE is a good fit for me and im only 23
+Micah Muzio It was worth the effort. I love the production value on all of these reviews. The video quality, shots, music, hosting are all on spot on. Great job man keep up the great content.
Well.... you guys nailed it..... How do you people think something like this??!!!!!!!!!!!!????? Hats off... My respect to you people has gone much higher from today....... So is my expectations in the next video...
Wow this used to be a great model. All the bads pointed out really make me not want to think of this model anymore. I'm sure there are goods but what was pointed out yep I look at. Thanks for the review
Hey Micah, I say this is one vehicle where you should really cross shop! NO STANDARD back up camera and push button start in 2016? Have to spend almost $4K more! When the sub compacts offer both now. Very Honest review !
WTF a base $66,000 SUV doesn't come with a standard back-up camera? A $20,000 KIA has a standard back-up camera. Germans... "nickle-and-dime" -ing people...
muratisteinkeks But for the American/Canadian market, I still think it's a cheap way of getting people to buy extra-cost options. Most of us in North America appreciate the back-up camera because we prefer cameras over sensors that beep.
And one that is expensive to maintain and repair (assuming you are buying this thing and not leasing for a few years). I'd rather have the Cadillac or a Lincoln MKX for the money. Much more value.
Hey Micah, please, need your advice, what is the best SUV which will cost less than $100k but will have - power, reliability, comfort, sport feeling and something that will put to anyones' face that this is a cool SUV! ?? Range Rover Sport? GLE63? X5M? maybe LX570? Ford Explorer EcoBoost? Please, need your advice
I Came to have a peek at the car, but ended up being impressed by the camera shots instead. Really creative work, esp the rear hatch to driver seat and window move.
I wish you would've shown how you can recline the rear seats. The Mercedes Benz catalogs for the 2016-2019 GLE say that you can recline the rear seats to any of 10 positions
It's crazy it doesn't have a backup camera. My '13 E class has one. Although, most Mercedes in the US have Premium Package 1. How in the world did they have a base model, with only double sunroofs as an option? LOL
All new cars must include a backup camera by May 2018. That's the latest from the federal government's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), which recently announced the finalized regulation on backup cameras after years of back-and-forth.
Humbert Sin I think your English comprehension is lacking. The comparison with the Honda is that to show that for way less money you get much more than the Mercedes even a child would get that. Learn English
says the person who can't spell "lacking" and speaking of grammar, "is that to show that" makes zero sense. speaking of which, "even a child would get that" should be a separate sentence. 3 basic mistakes in less than 3 lines of which an entire line was used to criticize my english...
Great review. I was kinda hoping that the GLE would borrow some design cues from its little brother, the 2016 GLC. I'm a bit tired of the Chevy Trailblazer look. Maybe next year.
Because all of the SUV's now start with GL and then either A,C,E, and S now signify where they stand in the Mercedes lineup, with the exception of the G class.
+datboiwes333 Yeah, lmao. As if Mercedes Benz is the only company that has done shit like this. Not that it justifies it though. No backup camera as standard in a car of that price, it's ridiculous, but I still think it's an amazing SUV
love the reviews, love you guys point out the bad things, you guys are the best out there(cnet brian cooley also), and you guys are very funny too. do you guys know when can you get a hands on 2017 pacifica minivan, been looking on it every single day, never ever want a minivan until i see pacifica.
Funny that You All miss a camera. Buying any MB is an exercise in negotiation. Silly principle, but that’s the MB-way. You are supposed to sit Down, list all that You want - and then reveal Your magical bargaining power. My ML350 is one of the last built in nov-14. Best car ever. Then some designer glued a screen on top of the dashboard in the 2015-version and that is so uggly. I am waiting for the 2019 - version, with digital dashboard like the present E-class. BTW, my power got me 14 pct of the listprice.
$52K base? Now they are $63K (2024), which still sounds like a deal., you can put $60K into a thinly equipped full-size truck. The other advantage is looking for pre-owned, and MB's depreciate fast even by German car standards ...
+Tires &Wheels he kinda right, this costs a lot and doesn't give even basic options that any $20k car has now, like back up camera, auto start, push and go etc... you have to pay for that
I just recently bought a 17' gle350 and I be honest saying the suv is definitely worth every penny spent. This kbb video the glee used is a very basic package you can't even get from dealer because premium 1 is the minimum standard pack every dealer sells. Which already included auto start key less and so forth. The premium 2 I got has the led and drl front lights. Love this car, you can't beat German engineering !
Luxury cars aren't differentiated by equipment but moreso the feel. Maybe he should mention the door panelling, the leather stitching, the suspension, the paint, body panel gaps, and so on. If you just compare features, you're not going to get them unless it's the fully-loaded top of the line models.
I'd appreciate it if you don't spend so much time reading off of a MB brochure/website. Just focus on your driving experience, interior room and finish.
BMW, Lexus and caddies are the way to go. Mercs has been the shit, literarily. Maybe when people stop buying their product then maybe they'll start making good cars again.
I don't typically comment on videos, but after watching I felt it necessary too. I currently have a 2017 GLE and it is the best car I have ever owned. Of course, you are going to be let down just getting the base model, but who on earth would get just the base model?! if you're already spending the 54000 you are definitely going to get more than the base. In addition, Mercedes whole brand is classic luxury and instead of saying anything good about its stunning high-class interior you just ripped it apart because you have to put down the seats yourself?! what is that? this was an extremely bias review and next time you should look further into the brand before attacking an incredible vehicle. Please next time mention how when you do get a backup camera it is an incredible 360 degree view one. Also, almost every german car manufacturer makes you pay a lot more for all the add ons you recieve.
Richard - Use one hand to open the rear fold down latch and the other hand to hold the top of the seat. Luckily there designed for people with an above average IQ...
It sounds to me you are not an impartial person. You do not like Mercedes, which is OK. I have a GLE and it has all the features you claim it lacks. A Lexus, Acura, Cadillac are not a Mercedes, BMW or an AUDI. There's a big difference, if I wanted my Poodles to travel on a cheap SUV, I'd have bought one.

Why would I pay extra for a backup camera in a 60k+ car? Stupid. ALL luxury cars are stupid. I would rather get a car with a 35k base price and option it up to 60k, but I would NEVER buy something like this. The reason backup camera and keyless entry are not standard is because people are stupid. They have the money, so they are willing to put up with this shit. You, as a consumer have the power to shape the product. And most people don't know that.
My buddy has a car that's more expensive than this and doesn't pay anywhere near that. The average for this car is $1500-2000 a year, $4k a year means bad driver or bad record likely lol

2017 GLEs come standard with a Rearview Camera
It blows my mind that it is 2016 and we still have some vehicles that don't come with standard equipment like backup cameras and remote starts. He's right that for the price you pay the least you could get are features that come with vehicles half the price.
I know right!
The GLE in Europe has everything the US version doesn't have
Took him everything not to say "what a piece of crap" lol
I have the GLE 450 AMG and it's a kicking ass car! It's had a 360 degree camera, this review it's not fair regarding the available cameras options.
Thank you for finally pointing it out
Sam A that's US version in this video....
Love the review and all the sass Micah, keep it up!
+badass125 I will keep bringing the sass. Cheers!
The GLE is perfect for me because its taller and roomier than the glc and the car i have now is in the same style as the glc, but the GLE isnt trying to be too long like a full fledged suv like say a yukon, and its not trying to be a crossover like the gls which has a third row seating, i dont need a third row seat and i dont need a car that tries to compete with minivans, so the GLE is a good fit for me and im only 23
OfficialMichellemarie 26 just get a Jeep Grand Cherokee they Ride on the same platform and it has more capability
why would Mercedes send you a base car, the dealer here don't even keep those on their lot. We also have the 350d here in Canada.
Finally a honest review that shows Mercedes Benz behind the power curve when it comes to the details.
That camera movement @ 1:10 to 1:25... how the f*** did you guys pull that off????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
+Sriram Rao It was a tricky one involving multiple camera hand-offs and and a lot of practice.
+Sriram Rao We'll do our best not to disappoint. ;)
+xpinchx That's much appreciated. Cheers!
Wow this used to be a great model. All the bads pointed out really make me not want to think of this model anymore. I'm sure there are goods but what was pointed out yep I look at. Thanks for the review
Base luxury car doesn't even have back-up camera? That should be standard nowadays.
In may 1 2018 it is required to be standard on all vehicles
+Monster of Luckiness Altough it's free even in smartphones!Benz desappointing.
It's depends where you live
For you people complaining about the back-up camera, most audi cars dont have it standard either
Hey Micah, I say this is one vehicle where you should really cross shop! NO STANDARD back up camera and push button start in 2016? Have to spend almost $4K more! When the sub compacts offer both now. Very Honest review !
+gene978 Thanks, Gene. Some buyers are happy to throw money at the issue but from a value perspective there are definitely better choices.
BEST GLE REVIEW EVER - YOU ARE AWESOME
Why did you guys list every competitor except for Lincoln .... The Lincoln MKX is quite beautiful and competes well with this GLE
WTF a base $66,000 SUV doesn't come with a standard back-up camera? A $20,000 KIA has a standard back-up camera. Germans... "nickle-and-dime" -ing people...
+Michael Lee Very few Germans order a back-up camera. Therefore they do not make it standard.
muratisteinkeks But for the American/Canadian market, I still think it's a cheap way of getting people to buy extra-cost options. Most of us in North America appreciate the back-up camera because we prefer cameras over sensors that beep.
50,000 dollars on an suv that lacks
Back up camera
Push button start
Navigation
Thats terrible for 2016 standard
And one that is expensive to maintain and repair (assuming you are buying this thing and not leasing for a few years). I'd rather have the Cadillac or a Lincoln MKX for the money. Much more value.
+MotorCity J Or you could get an RX with better reliability, value and interior....
Andrew Yang agreed
MotorCity J the caddy is better
+Kenneth Martin if u want a plastic bag it sure is better :'D
Hey Micah, please, need your advice, what is the best SUV which will cost less than $100k but will have - power, reliability, comfort, sport feeling and something that will put to anyones' face that this is a cool SUV! ?? Jeez kbb couldn’t even bother getting the car with some options
Excellent stuff KBB..
Great video review. WTH Mercedes? My 5 year old Nissan has a backup camera, cargo area folddown handles, and keyless entry+start!
so... basically paying for the brand is what he's saying so diplomatically. I will stick with the Q7
It blows my mind how big of a price range the Mercedes has. :)
Tf, 52 grand and you can't even get a back up camera. Dodge will put a back up camera on a $17 grand car without a question.
Lack of door handle sensors and push to start is cray
Salesman's nightmare of models.
+Car Geeks Anonymous Why that?
@@muratisteinkeks because its 2019 and they are still trying to get rid of the 2017 models.
1:47 This is intentional and it's actually much smarter than waiting for a complete stop to shut off the engine.
The camerawork is excellent!
Great review as always.
true about mirrors.... at least I have blindspot assist, but would prefer just bigger mirrors -_-
This is my dream car.
mercedes benz at its best, "screwing over the customers"
Is there any intintion to change the transmtion from 7 speed to 9 speed like the GLS
2018 got awesome now and I want this more these type of engine and body style till like 2090
It's crazy it doesn't have a backup camera. My '13 E class has one. Although, most Mercedes in the US have Premium Package 1. How in the world did they have a base model, with only double sunroofs as an option? LOL

GLE = Got Largely Expensive
Why do the LED lights look nicer in Europe than in America?
Bang & Olufsen sound system? Are you sure about that?
Is it weird that I'm upset he had a good time reviewing the car? If I was as good natured and amiable in front of the camera, I'd take his job.
I wanted a mid-size SUV and this was the only one I could find that could tow up to 7200 lbs.
The Porsche Cayenne will do so as well
thank you, good video, good info
pretty much buying a shitty suv with a Mercedes-Benz badge on it. Even a base Honda Fit has a backup camera.
you know nothing about cars if you think a backup camera is what differentiates a mercedes and a honda.
Humbert Sin I think your English comprehension is lacking. The comparison with the Honda is that to show that for way less money you get much more than the Mercedes even a child would get that. Learn English

1:05 , cool camera work!
Great review. I was kinda hoping that the GLE would borrow some design cues from its little brother, the 2016 GLC. I'm a bit tired of the Chevy Trailblazer look. Maybe next year.
this is the early release version back up camera and 30 camera is actually standard
Why did they drop the name M class, but keep the same vehicle? But they keep the name C class, E class, and S class.
Because all of the SUV's now start with GL and then either A,C,E, and S now signify where they stand in the Mercedes lineup, with the exception of the G class.
I thought this was the GLC when is it coming out?
+Ceds Media The GLC is now available. Our review is on the way as well!
+Kelley Blue Book When is it going to be?
nice
nice
nice
nice review, i will take the CX90 any day
All the things in this video and 9 out of 10 comments are about the backup camera.

Can you put The 2017 headlights in the 2011 model?
This vehicle is awful. 52 grand w/o backup camera plus other negative features ...
I bought it for 52k and i have 360 camera.
Henry Lam you don't even know this is a early release model
you know why? cos you can turn around and look out of the rear window...and if your neck has a sore maybe you should get it through the P1 package.
when I pay that much and as I am driving such a luxury SUV, maybe I do not want to do that
Autos Mercedes llesing kaufen
Audi or Volvo would be my choice
+100vasiliy or BMW
+100vasiliy XC90 for glory
enjoy that plastic dash on the Q7.
100vasiliy I would get a Lexus Rx
Even honda has standard back up camera
@3:50 you could see the drone hovering
we all saw that...
In 5 years this car will lose 80% of its value!
If you buy this car new you make a mistake, but if you buy it used you make a bigger mistake!
It makes me so much happy
In this day and age, there is absolutely no excuse for a backup camera not come standard. Ridiculous.
rx or gle or q7 ???
No extending sun visors?! That's unacceptable for a car of this price/class!
They do extend...
These reviews are excellent! The car is shit though :p
+Nour Nachabe such a precise summary of this six minute video.
+Tires &Wheels he kinda right, this costs a lot and doesn't give even basic options that any $20k car has now, like back up camera, auto start, push and go etc... you have to pay for that

there's a 9 speed auto available
The sunvisors do extend...
Hard plastics and buttons are premium Materials? What are you smoking lol
Why do some of them have a touch pad and others don't (like this one) ?
This one is super basic no option no nothing
I'd appreciate it if you don't spend so much time reading off of a MB brochure/website.
Just focus on your driving experience, interior room and finish.
Great vehicle. Some of my favorite.
...WAIT... NO BACKUP CAMERA!?!?! I thought these were mandatory???
TomCook1993 it wasn’t implemented until May of 2018 and this video was filmed in 2016 with a 2017 model
It depends on the package
BMW, Lexus and caddies are the way to go. Mercs has been the shit, literarily. Maybe when people stop buying their product then maybe they'll start making good cars again.

The new Audi Q7 has a better interior
Dougie / The Island Boys Well, no shit Sherlock
It also looks like a boat of a station wagon.
New Q7 is also hideous like the new W167 GLE
"Sassier version" LOL YASSSS
Nice looking car and good review..."Yeshua/Jesus is the way"
Thanks for your support!
Excuse me... what's the problem with UNLOCKING the car and starting the engine???
Is it GenX characteristic whining?
new RX all the way.
DUDE you're super CRAMPED in the back like a sardine....SMH
SEE THIS IS THE DEAL BREAKER FOR ME WITH THIS SUV I WANT SO BAD....Smh
The GLE coupe is so much uglier than an X4 or an X6. Never thought I would say that....
Jesus!!... didn't mummy make your lunch.. this sort of performance will earn you a punch in the back of the knee from a random member of the public.
The center console looks so outdated...
What's that squeaking noise in the background
This looks outdated... Are you sure this is the newest model?
this is the early release model
Jonathan Guan
I don't know if a mid-gen refresh is going to rectify a stagnant interior; everything from the switchwork to the satnav seems to be from 2009.
+Aryzen Inniriea this early model satnav on commands are a different from the normal gle
Jonathan Guan
So, they have updated it then?
Aryzen Inniriea yes
VOLVO XC90 just way ahead of this one.

ast5515 But in My Country has a rear camera, and safety system are standard.... why it's American GLE so Options only....?
Who is Mercedes? I've only heard of AMG.
An ML with new badging. I'll pass.
...and 4,000+/year on insurance
My buddy has a car that's more expensive than this and doesn't pay anywhere near that. The average for this car is $1500-2000 a year, $4k a year means bad driver or bad record likely lol
