Wish you would have showed the difference in space between the second row in the R1T and R1S. When I sat in the second row of the R1T I found the seat uncomfortable with the groove of the seat back digging into my back and the position fairly upright. I think the R1S second row has more space with the ability to slide the seat back and also tilt it back making the second row much more comfortable. What do you think of the R1T second row comfort?
Quick turn around! Wish I could have made it out yesterday. I did see Steven on Saturday and got a quick peek at the R1S. Looks great and a good companion vehicle to the R1T, just different enough for different buyers. Good comparison!
R1S please - in Forest Green it would make a very nice replacement for my 2020 Land Rover Defender 110 First Edition D240 diesel in almost matching Pangea Green . Is the R1S available as a t seater though as I don’t need/want 7 seats?
Nice comparison.. I would probably take the R1S, like the car camping possibility, and you would be inside in the AC or Heat and protected from animals and bad weather better. I wonder why they did not just build the R1S on the same platform and size wheelbase as the R1T?? would have been easier it seems, less changes on the production line, and more interior space..
A little disappointed that the S doesn't have the under-seat storage in the second row. First I've heard of that, although it seems obvious given that the seats move in the S.
I wish someone would stick some car seats in the various seats in the R1S. I haven’t seen a review video yet that shows that. Obviously for a lot of families this is going to be a kid hauler (and a damn fun kid hauler at that).

@@brandenflasch well yes and the adjustability of the 2nd row. Which the R1S can adjust too. And does the armrest come down so it is not as claustrophobic. People get R1S over R1T mainly for third row. But was mainly glossed over for this vid.
@@brandenflasch my wife and I started counting how many times in the last few years we needed a 7 row SUV vs a truck and the truck won hands down. Plus we thought the truck looked better
@@laloajuria4678 likely that slide forward mode is done to allow access to people getting into the third row seats. Many three row SUVs have that slide and tilt mode to serve that purpose.
Went back to Illinois (home) last week, where Rivian is HUGE in manufacturing. It's a shithole state, I have a niece and nephew outta work from Rivian, saw a few of these idiotmobiles around dipshit Peoria. Not even a receiver on them! Might as well be a golf cart. Buy an electric cart, stay in the "bike lane" and get outta the way of people that actually need to get places. Ya know,, like "politicians" that spend billions on fuel.

Your analysis is spot on. You can really make the 2nd row very comfortable in the S compared to the T

When I had a pickup before my Model 3, I think I used the enclosed bed way more often than an open bed, so the R1S would be totally fine for me.

That third row seat in the R1S would have been a great place for a full-sized spare.
These two vehicles look awesome. That Ocean Coast looks great, but definitely not for people with kids.
It may be the pull-out camp cooking station option that I like best about the R1T.

I like both of them and have seen an R1T in the wild. However, Rivian has priced these way out of my range.
What is the dimension from the floor to the top of the rear hatch opening in the R1S? How big of a box can fit into the back?

i am not really a truck person, I would take the R1S, just get a bike rack for bikes (for me) the additional space is nice for a big dog

R1T has a longer wheelbase which equates to a better ride and more comfortable and controlled towing.

If you push the buttons in the rear compartment, it does indeed fold flat. The whole back can be flat.
