    One thing that I’ve always appreciated about your demonstrations is that you show both the English and Continental versions. Beautiful shawl.

    Hello, great video, one thing I can't understand is how can I do the increases from 8th row to the 45 stitches. I'm greek and can't understand quite well. Thank you in advance

    • @hannahbonanza1075
      @hannahbonanza1075 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think the 45 must be a typo, I got 69sts by that point. 😅 I started panicking lol
      Edit: I've realized he isn't increasing after 3rd row. The pattern is just k3, P to last 3sts, sl3. Then RS K where you p, and back and forth. However there must be an increase of 2 somewhere before he starts the 1x1... I'm in the middle of writing the notes to figure it out hahaha

      Ù r rt row 8th st become 37, not 45.

  • @barbarasmith2693
    @barbarasmith2693 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I am so confused. At 11:01 you say that you are going to skip along because the next rows are easy. Do you continue to add increases on the next 5 rows (you say rows 4, 5. 6. 7.and 8.) because on the next row you show increases that get you to an end count of 45 stitches and I can't seem to make the math work out.
    Edit: Ok, So I've come back and I have actually watched that portion of the video at .25 speed and counted the stitches at the 11:45 mark in the video and you have *25 stitches on the needle*. _How?_ Just prior to doing : Row 1(RS) K3,M1, (k1,m1)to last 3sts, sl3 wyif. 45 sts. If you are following the pattern of increasing on the RS and purling without increases on the WS, I have no idea how you get to 25 stitches. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP! I really want to make this shawl.💖 *Edit: 9 days later. Well, I give up. This must be a video tutorial that is meant solely as a companion video for those who have already purchased the written or charted pattern and have it in hand. I do wish that there had been some indication that this was the case, I would not have wasted my time (and some of what remains of my sanity!🤪) trying to figure out what I was doing wrong if I had known that I had to buy the pattern in order to follow along here. I am sad as I really wanted to try to make this shawl.

      Am at the same stage as you, my sympathies, and mathematically with two add-on rows the total goes from 21 to 45. Just not doable. Giving up on this too unless clarification/assistance comes soon!
      I created a flowchart to work it out. Row 5 total is 37 proven, row 7 is 69, yet to be proven. So I have a choice, give up or go with my numbers

    • @elintonettetviberg5524
      @elintonettetviberg5524 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you zoom in at the beginning at the shawl or freeze the frame at 45 stitches, youll see that he hasnt increased in the middle, only near the icord for a few rounds. I increased 2 masks per knit round until I knew I would get 45 in the next round

    • @yolandabrinkman2653

      He ends row 4 with 21, and then says go to row 8. If you increase on 5 you will have 37 not the 25 he has. I stopped the video to count it’s annoying because there’s no way he added m1’s on riw 5 and 7. If he did, there would be way more stitches

    Twisted m1 leaves less of a gap/hole. 🤔

    Gorgeous! Hope to get to your store in August where I’m catching a cruise with Laura Nelkin. Question. I have a bazillion skeins of fingering weight yarn that needs a big project like this. Is this suitable? I sure hope so. Thanks!

    • @papercracker4176
      @papercracker4176 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi, I have lots of fingering weight yarn too, but I think for a project like this where you want your colours to blend, marl or fade, they can be an excellent choice. You just need to work with two strands to equal the DK requirements and that can really result in some beautiful, soft fades.

    Love your shawl, but I don't have longer then 100cm circular knitting needles. So how can I make a shawl bigger?
    4 skeins is how many grams?

  • @Juanita_Randall
    @Juanita_Randall ปีที่แล้ว

    You are awesome, I only do straight stuff, in knit. Having fun watching my work grow, changing the needle sizes and colors, creates the variety. I did make a vest out of connected squares. Inspired by a video a few years ago. I also have a growing sampler of other wonderful stitches that I saw. Oops, I bound off that sampler already. ❤❤❤❤❤
