Awesome showcase of an underrated SF series. Too bad Alpha 3 never caught on. It was too complex for my wee brain but it's got to be one of the most fascinating SF games.

That x-ism Chun li was very fun to watch.
Alpha series has ages so well. It's still my favorite iteration of the formula.
This was before there was double tap forwards to Dash.

Sfa3 was very fun, but the isms weren’t really balanced out at all. If sfa3 could be hypothetically remade again by capcom, it would be cool if they could combine x-ism’s cps1 chain with a-ism’s system. Or just combine all 3 so you don’t have to pick and choose what you want to exclusively use your meter for (which is imo, one of the strengths of a2 over a3).
I also find it weird that japan as a whole just never embraced a2 at all. Was the game in direct conflict with some other really popular fighting game at the time? A2 is, outside of the valle cc, very “traditional sf” in terms of gameplay.
My guess, is because the game is pretty simple and definitely breaks at a low skill level. I do know, early on, that the AC's were a big turnoff, that lead to a very defensive game. Which is true.

Alpha series was the peak of SF in my book. It had almost VS-like speed to it. You really have to be on top of your condition to keep up with reactions. SF starting SF4 are sluggish and bloated.

Gotta admit, SFA3 was the greatest Street Fighter game ever made. Unlike super selection, the ism modes gave true variety to every character and you never heard anyone complain about balance because of it. This game knew how to balance correctly: just make sure the player is having fun with whatever character they pick.
SFA3 balanced? What are you smoking dude. There are infinites in this game that are pretty easy to do..
It's fun and all, but balance is all over the place
Ieatbabys123456 everyone had infinites, some easier than others, Guy players don't use them, and yet he's a high tier character. Why? Because the variety countered the bullshit and gave a far more balanced experience then Chun Li using one button to take down half the cast in third strike.

Doom2Guy better balanced than third strike, nobody can take down chun li in that one unless your name is Kuroda. Alpha 3 was a big game, now go over to the A-cho channel where the dominate players use a large variety of characters in current tournies.
But the lack of ex moves is just wierd
new generation did not have EX moves. 2nd Impact did
You must have not realized yet that this is a feature only present in the series after MANY releases. It sounds almost like it's always been a great part of the series' gameplay.
