I received mine in may this year from ecuagenera. I’m patiently waiting for a new leaf to come in. You definitely aren’t wrong about it being a slow grower! 😂
What a beguiling species! I look forward to seeing its growth in the future. Mind blowing to think that this is a younger example and already so large. I will certainly be keeping my eyes open for one in local nurseries . Thanks for the close up look at it 🤗
Almost 7 years ago, I purchased a random phalaenopsis from a garden center. The blooms are white with some pink and yellow spots on the lip. The leaves are huge, but lack the glaucous sheen of the gigantea. But this guy LEANS! Haha. No matter how many times I report him and stand him upright, he insists on leaning all the way over. It's impossible for me to confirm, but I suspect it has gigantea in its parentage. It's also a very slow grower and makes an insane amount of roots. But the shape of the flower is totally different from the gigantea. Who knows? lol Anyway, your video has inspired me to start searching for a gigantea. They're super beautiful! Thanks for the video!
I just purchased a Phal gigantea. It seems there is conflicting info on the potting medium. Some say “fast-draining bark mix” while others say “water retentive sphagnum moss.” What is yours potted in?
@@dorothyb2050 the reason you see conflicting info for potting media is because it depends on the environment in which you're growing the orchid. I grow mine in my house, which can be very dry, especially in the long winters. So I grow my phals in a mixture of sphagnum moss and bark. Just a straight bark media dries out way too fast for me, but would work beautifully in either a greenhouse setting or a warm/humid location.
🤔I'm really interested in this fascinating type of phalaenopsis but I've read on a few different sites that it's more prone to disease,is this true???Also do the blooms last as long on them as the mainstream phalaenopsis hybrids or do they fade faster?Either way it 👀 absolutely beautiful with it's bluish-green leaves...If only you could put the flower's scent in this video🤗.
I have a question about liquid fertilizer. I have only 2 Phals ( beginner here) and the instructions for the fertilizer is to make a gallon of it. Is it alright to make it up and store the gallon of fertilizer in a container as I only have 2 plants. Will the fertilizer last for an extended period of time after being mixed up? Thank you. Love your channel
I just purchased a Phal gigantea. What is the potting mix you’re using? It seems there is conflicting info on the potting medium. Some say “fast-draining bark mix” while others say “water retentive sphagnum moss.” I don’t want to water everyday, so I’m leaning toward sphagnum (that’s what my polychilos Phals are in), but I also don’t want to suffocate the roots. Any advice would be welcome.
Wow the flower spike is so thick! What a gorgeous species.
Love the spotlight episodes! And especially on the polychilos ones!

She's so pretty, between her leaves and the blooms, I'm in love and she is going on my springtime wish list!!
Very impressive, what a beauty. 😍
I love this kind of show and tell with single species/hybrids very much. Hope to see more of them.
I'm loving these very specific genus-species spotlights👍👍thank you
Would love to see you repot this Beauty 👍🏼
