I remember seeing this demo reel back in early 2016 when I began to learn rigging, and was so impressed by how the detailed the rigs were, down to the leather straps! Thank you for inspiring me to improve my craft even now :-)

Hey, awesome rigging! I am currently making my own demo reel and was wondering how you got the controls to show up on your rig. I know CV curve tools do not render out, but I could have sworn there was a way to show them in your renders with a certain setting. Anyway, If you could help me out that would be great!
What program is used? Btw any tips for me? Ive been wanting to animate since I was 7 and im going to college for it this fall, im just nervous that I wont be good enouph or good at it.... I am able to used 3DS Max but my skills with rigging models that I also poorly make, they arent good...

Just keep practising and going at it and you will get to that pro level :D Honestly, when I started out, I was a load of crap. I had zero knowledge in 3D before I went to an art college and I turned out pretty ok in the end xD So I am sure you can do it too :D I used Maya btw. I am clueless when it comes to 3DS Max hehe

Not many people would love to go through this path xD Hmm, basics is very very important. Make sure you have that and most of the time, you can breeze through any rigs with it. Just explore a lot and if you can do programming, DO IT. It helps like a loads more when you can script :D All the best, dude!
SaphFish no worries SaphFish. I ended up just learning how to script in mel to make tools to help with modeling/uving since im a modeler mainly. From time to time I still admire people showcase of their rigs. your Ncloth test look good.

hey this is a beautiful reel! I love the way you animated it all! And I just had a few questions since you are amazing at Rigging and I'm going to school for it, making my demo reel. I apologize ahead for all the questions! I'm just so curious and I'm striving to get better myself! I was wondering if you animated then rendered out the animation sequences completely then split it for the reel? and how did you get your rig to move so smoothly with the skin? It all looks so fluid! the follow through on the dog ears is brilliant too! Did you use a dynamic? Did you use a camera to render the car rig fly through test? or is it just the way you captured the video. Anyways, sorry for all the questions I just wanted to ask and perhaps learn from someone better than me so I can maybe get to that level too. C: Thanks!

I will just reply just in case you still need it~ I only rendered the 'real' animation parts~ The part where i showcased the rig is actually only playblasted views; that's why you can still see the controllers xD I actually animated the controllers so they can look like they are moving on their own :) Yeap! Dog ears are part dynamics, part FK rigs :D And yeap! I animated the camera inside Maya for the car :D All the best in your endeavour! And thank you so much for stopping by!
