The real reason Mario never wears a shirt on scene is because the friction always put it on fire. At first they thought it was cool, but they quickly got fed up of buying shirts over and over again, and all the fireproof stuff was already taken by Rammstein, so they just gave up.

I remember when he said in an interview once that 3 weeks before any big tour he does nothing but practice running the double bass as fast as he can....non-stop...for 1 hour straight...each day. Friggin insane.

Sorry to kill your joke, but I think you owe Thomas Haake some credit. While the pattern Mario plays isn't easy, it's not the hard part of Bleed. Bleed is incredibly hard because Thomas keeps that shit going for 4 minutes straight, with the polyrythms changing every few bars. A lot of pro drummers can do the starting rythm, but can't hold it for 4 minutes.
There are a few drummers that make me question me even calling myself a drummer. -Mario Duplantier -Danny Carey -Thomas Haake -Chris Turner -Gavin Harrison -Matt Garska Etc...
Now they play that outro at the end of backbone. They don’t play remembrance live anymore. I saw them live 3 times, happened all the 3 times and on every recent live videos

ThEre is no such thing as a best drummer. There are so many styles….and drummers. Weckl, Vinnie, Lang, Garstka, Harrison, Bozzio, Copeland, Peart. All major league players. In their own style…
MrWhiteguy6 I can understand that,but that song is the definitive proof in Gojira’s discography that Mario can play many styles of drumming (other songs like Yellow Stone,Magma,and Born In Winter display that too,but not to the same extent). The contrast between the really technical and syncopated drumming in the first half and the really laid back and feel oriented drumming in the second half is really great. It doesn’t get any better than that.
It's also worth recognizing that all of the other members have such a good timing with Mario so teamwise they sound more meaty than like 99% of metal bands

Metallica influenced Gojira and Lars was an awesome drummer when he was younger. Not technical as Mario, but not bad. They're 2 kind of drummers. I know you were joking but it's not funny.
Last summer on Brutal Assualt, CZ I catched one of his signed drumsticks. Saw him throw it and jumped in the pit to get it. Might not sound like a big deal to many but to me it meant the world. Mario is by far my favourite drummer of all time, not only is he a technical beast but I just love his live performance.
I’ve been a drummer on and off for 20 years. Listening to this dudes performance on the new album inspires me so much to keep playing. His creativity and innovation is incredible to see and hear. An amazing, transcendent drummer for sure 🤘🤘💚

Gojira is well recognized in Latin America, Europe, and the UK. Idk why they are underrated here in the states. I would really like them to headline at least 1 fest in America
I went to a festival 3 weeks ago and saw Arch Enemy, Trivium, Gojira, Lamb of God, Slipknot and Slayer final concert in Portugal (2nd last in Europe). Everybody was waiting for Slayer in the last day but Gojira and Lam of God was just BRUTAL!!!!!!

Cmon magma was a bit boring Songs like the shooting star silvera, only pain, and lowlands are memorable but as a whole the album doesnt speak. From Mars To Sirius flows so dam well. I suggest one day you play magma in its entirety one sit one listen then put on FMTS and see the major difference in album quality

I've always thought the ability to double bass really fast was neat but overrated... His technical ability is top notch as well, though.
