SWFL Eagles- Maybelline and M15! The Story Of Maybelline!

- First and foremost I would like to share with you that I refer to this eagle as “Maybelline“ for identification purposes. At the time that I uploaded this video, she had been known as a frequent visitor to the Southwest Florida Eagle Cam but did not receive an official tittle nor name last season . Maybelline visited the nest tree several times last season. This eagle is not R23-3 nor the other frequent visitor that goes by several names. Both eagles were larger and made different vocalizations. With that in mind, I will continue to identify her as “Maybelline” until she is given an official name by SWFEC. I will then begin to refer to her by the official name.
I began to observe her spending time with Dad (on May 30) on the cell tower. Finally, on June 3, I was able to record reliable footage of them. As the the months of July and August progressed I would frequently see M15 and Maybelline at Yonder Pond although, not simultnaeously. Those who follow my photography page on Facebook know that I livestream videos of the eagles to document their well being. Maybelline spent the summer at Yonder Pond preening, catching fish, and resting. I included footage of her swooping at fish. As you view the videos from July and August, notice the labels identifying her new, developing feathers (molting) for comparison purposes. I included footage of her vocals (I apologize for the road noise) and as you can hear, her vocals are unique. She is now actively spending the day with Dad at the pasture pond and at the nest tree. I hope you enjoy this video! I am secretly rooting for her to be accepted by M15. At the time that I uploaded this video, her last two tail feathers were almost grown. This is a public video. You may share it at your discretion. The findings on this video are my personal opinions based on my observations. Please take my findings with a grain of salt. I’m a grown man and I’m crying!!! Harriet was a trooper!!! I know she is flying high in the heavens looking down on all her babies!!! I believe her most precious are the two she had no chose but to never see again!! She is in heaven watching over all her awesome babies as they fly high in the sky!!! To Harriet, you will always be a great mother and protector, and also M15 who will die for his babies!!!!!

Well I'm 70 and reading YOUR post made ME cry... I miss her too and am hopeful M15 finds the perfect new mate for him. How long does it take to mend a broken heart ... in humans, it never fully mends. Hopefully he is ready for a new lady in his life. Loving memories of his Harriet may she be in God's eternal forest!

I miss our special eaglet E22 also. Wishing that they had been banded so that we could know where E21 and E22 are and what they’re doing.
Oh, don't... 😭 Lol. Was thinking of their more memorable moments today. 21 clutching talons with that adult, 22 perched on the driveway fence, happily chatting (or listening) to the people in the SUV. And so many more. I miss them SO much. I just cry on cue for them!

I am rooting for her, she really is a lovely young eagle. Androcat has posted showing her and M15 in the best tree looking quite comfortable together. to me she seems to be a very young adult...i too have noticed her vocalizations....shes what i call a "4 tweeter" instead of the usual 3 tweets...i hope M15 picks her too!
She's beautiful. Just soars so effortlessly in the air with ease. Hope she and Dad can be an item, dad deserves the best this year. Am sure he still misses Harriet, as we all do.

M15, She's a keeper coz she can fish! Hopefully M will choose her as his mate since she has spent the summer bonding with him. "Maybelline" isn't banded, so there isn't any backstory about her, is there? Don't know where she came from, what hardships she's dealt with, her age, etc... 🦅Those Bald Eagles with their secrets are really closed beak about certain things! Maybelline glides through the air with grace while molting, growing new flight feathers. That's pretty impressive!💞 I was hoping that the SWFL Pritchett family would have made an exception this time with giving M15 an official name for his diligence single-taloned in raising two Eaglets to fledge and disperse onto their grand journey! Wonder what they'll name her?

So far M15 hasn't been treating her as an intruder. That is an encouraging sign.
Breathtaking clips of time standing still to ... completely inspire and give hope! Maybelline is a extraordinary skilled flyer despite a molting process of very important feathers! She seems to have adapted and excelled despite the loss! Her adoration of M15 goes beyond heartwarming...to give us hope for a continuation of the circle of life. She may be smaller than the other two eagles...which gives her a edge in speed and agility! She follows M15 everywhere...showing her complete dedication to him. I am smitten with her...as she is so incredibly lovely!! Her gentle and sweet vocals to M15 give me shivers! His answering calls and acceptance of her in the nest and nearby favorite perch's are a sign to me that he finds her worthy! No one can EVER fill Harriet's shoes..as she sits on her heavenly perch...but, I do think she would approve and WANT her legacy to live on in her mate M15. My wish for M15 is that he finds what he seeks! If Maybelline is that search...I couldn't be happier! M15 is the eagle of eagles in his selfless dedication to procreating and the circle of life. May this nest be forever blessed and held tightly by a protecting and loving Creator in his strong GRIP! Thank you Saunders for this whirlwind of utter beauty! May the future of M15 be a joy to us all....

Watching Maybelline soar brings tears. To have this magnificent bird selected to be the icon of our country was one of the greatest decisions we made as a country. They are truly Majestic in so many ways. 🦅
Love the name! M&M! Or, The Ms. Maybelline and the Magnificent. Beautiful and great molting examples/info. I'm so glad she stopped by the pasture and got to see some of M's great achievements. She's a wonderful, healthy, capable BAEA lady, and seems worthy of M. Most of all, happy for M finding much needed companionship and a possible mate for the season at hopefully the good old NestTree! How lucky we are! Remembering Harriet always... and her last kiddos, who I miss everyday.

I agree with you. This one is closer to the same size of M15. R23-3 was larger than both M15 and Harriet. This is what caused all the heartache on the nest last season. There was little M could do to confront the intruder bird because she was so much larger, and he risked injury. Then he would not have been able to feed our magnificent Es at all. This one is smaller and has no perceptible injury to her talon.
