This is the final boss theme in Sans and Papyrus: Chara's Inside Story. It's an Undertale retelling of Bowser's Inside Story with Gaster in Fawful's place. This Gaster launched a coup against Asgore and when cornered by Sans and some of the Royal Guard, jumped down the CORE to erase himself from history and basically become immortal as he schemed to get his revenge, biding his time until something freed him. When the timeholes started popping up what would have been the Partners In Time retelling, there was one in the Void but it could only be accessed from the other end. The monsters made a park bench over it and when Gaster reappeared he smashed through it and got his iconic cracks.
The Undertale timeline Kris takes Midbus' role, following Gaster after he. . . let's just say "dealt with" Susie. He carries an axe he painted to coincidentally look identical to Susie's in Deltarune, which Gaster finds utterly hilarious.
Instead of the Dark Star, there's the Dark Soul. The soul of the Human King from the Monster-Human war. All his EXP and Asgore killing his son drove him crazy, becoming the Dark King, and soon after the war he turned on his kingdom and was slain. . . but his soul refused to die. So it was sealed away in an eternal slumber by the 5 remaining wizards who created the barrier, unable to just make a new barrier after the King killed the Wizards of Justice and Kindness. Only the source of the hatred that made him, King Asgore, can awaken the Dark Soul. And it no longer has a mind, it exists only to kill the monsters who killed his beloved son and watch the world he never lived to take the throne of be consumed in darkness. In other words, a monster who absorbs the Dark Soul becomes another Omega Flowey who can't be robbed of his power as the Dark Soul is incapable of rebelling.
The Skelebros are trying to cure the Blorbs and retake Asgore's Castle, and Chara just wants to kill Gaster for using them as a pawn in his scheme with the Vacuum Shroom.
Gameplay-wise the Skelebros are identical to the Mario Bros and Chara is much like Bowser but dodging as they have no shell to hide in. They're more powerful than Sans and Papyrus combined, even with Sans' KR, and instead of freeing minions to get Brawl Attacks they new weapons and enchant them for Special Attacks.
The Giant Battles are replaced by Chara's determination being supercharged to make them more powerful, akin to Mario being powered up by Dreamy Luigi but with infinite BP and no Luiginary Attacks. Determined Chara fights the giant enemies piece by piece.
For example the Tower of Yikk has arms and is brought down limb by limb, Chara's attacks bringing it to its knees and making it fall into the water, giving Chara a free turn but Yikk is so strong one good hit will send the Fallen Child flying into the water and they'll lose their turn swimming back up and fighting through enemies ala Dark Bowser's Brawl Attack to return to the battlefield.
The Gaster Express is an exception as Chara slaughters the passengers cart by cart in a limited number of turns as the Jerrys inside rig up explosives and attempt to dislodge the carts and drive off as Chara is blown to smithereens.
Sans is ALWAYS against empowering Chara but he knows only they can defeat the giant enemy and also finds making a blueprint of the brat's body useful for surgically shutting their DT down in the event he gets the chance.
With Flowey being, well, Flowey there's no real Starlow equivalent character-wise. Instead, Papyrus is able to talk to Chara and since they can't kill "Pappy" they have to listen to him. When Chara's locked in the safe where Asgore kept the Real Knife and Locket, Papyrus repeatedly goes back in the human's body to talk with them and keep them company.
And this is where the game deviates from Bowser's Inside Story.
Because of Papyrus, Chara actually begins to soften up. And with nothing but time to think in that safe and someone to steer them on the right path, Chara loses their genocidal ambitions. After they defeat Blizzard Kris and put their tongue on his frozen axe when Papyrus tells them to as he and Sans pursue the halved Dark Soul (Chara cut it in half as Gaster went to absorb it), Chara genuinely thinks about saving the world out of the goodness of their blackened heart. Once again becoming the hope of monsterkind as Asgore said so long ago.
Humanity had changed a lot since they fell. Their village, now a city, didn't treat them like a demon for their red eyes. The poor weren't left dying in the streets. There weren't Great Wars like the world they left behind a century ago.
Popple was a thief but he still nursed them back to health, clothed them, fed them, trained them, and respected their wishes to not be called by their real gender as they held the Rookie identity.
And. . . Baby Chara wasn't evil. After going back in time and seeing their surface-life for themselves it's clear they weren't born this way, they CHOSE to embrace L.O.V.E.
Even after all they had done, Papyrus physically intervened to stop Sans from killing them in the hospital battle. Because he always knew what they just realized.
Everything Frisk taught them was wrong. And in hindsight, following that maniacal minor's methodology without stopping to wonder if the person hunting down every monster they can find to kill them for money and EXP may not have been that good an idea in the first place.
Dark Gaster and Dark Chara, beings born of revenge and hatred to fulfill a vendetta they couldn't let go. . . they're exactly what Chara is. And what they refuse to continue to be. Ghosts of the past that they are determined to move on from.
And as they enter the Determined Form without the Skelebros' help, Chara swears to ERASE these creatures from the future.
After Gaster's suicidal explosion releases everyone from Chara's body, like Bowser in the original game, they are disgusted the Skelebros were living it up in their guts. And Sans' blueprint of their body smacks them in the face. It doesn't take long for them to realize what he was gonna do. Chara is still in their Determined Form, they'd win a fight and kill Smiley Trashbag once and for all!
They're ending their vendetta with Sans today. . . by refusing to be what he's fought against for two timelines. Chara doesn't attack, they sheath their knife.
"It's a beautiful day outside. Birds are singing, flowers are blooming. On days like these. . . kids like me. . . gotta learn when to quit."
"And that day's today."
Sans is surprised but he knows Chara's holding all the cards. He and Papyrus are exhausted and outta BP while Chara is at the height of their power with infinite BP. There's nothing stopping them from killing him as Frisk did in the Genocide Run, without his Special Attack to buy time as it's already Chara's turn. . . but that's the point. Chara's not like Frisk. Not anymore.
"so papyrus was right. even the worst person can change."
Chara and Sans embrace, this time without a dunking on either side. And Papyrus joins in, triumphantly proclaiming that his kindness lessons worked. And Asgore joins in, reunited with his adopted child.
Instead of a montage of a battle over the Ending Credits, it's a montage of Chara hanging out with the Skelebros (and Flowey), ending with the Real Knife being returned to the safe along with Chara's other weapons, only to be wielded again to protect.
This is epic! Maybe you should make stories and stuff! I do it on my free time, it is a great way to kill time!
I love this! Perfect way of adapting a story like the one in Mario and Luigi:Bowser's Inside Story, to account for Sans, Papyrus, and Chara.

Bowser's Inside Story proves that with a crazy concept as traveling inside bowser you can make one of the best Rpg's. It's all about execution.
A interesting Concept is nothing without a good execution.
I never could make it to this boss as a kid, I always got stuck at the cage fight, but I will tell you this: hearing Bowser say “showtime” was all the nostalgia I needed to make me smile.

Remember: to dodge the Gaster Blaster attack, both of the Bros have to hang on to Starlow. Time it perfectly, though: the Blue Soul effect makes gravity twice as fast, and that affects Starlow as well!

Two of my favourite final boss musics combined. Im generally judgemental of any remixes of 'In the final' but I have to say I am impressed. I like how its got In the Final playing front and centre and megalovania is playing in the background going at an insane speed. Really really nice. I havent been this impressed since Juno Songs added lyrics to In the Final.
If there was a inside story for undertale, I would pay 70 bucks just to get it.
