- We had a problem trying to sell Ash's BMW Z4M as the most common question was "Have the rod bearings been done?"... As we didn't have any documentation to say whether they had or not we set about answering that once and for all with a YES and do them ourselves. In a slow market, you have to make your car the best one available for the money for it to stand out... So we did!

Ash is a sound guy but he’s better suited to mechanical work as opposed to witty banter to camera. We all have differing talents. However I do think Lee needs to come back.

Good succinct video - like Ash! Enjoyed that - and good to actually see what entails a rod bearing change. You see loads of videos of ‘ooooh, rod bearings…’, then show the wear, but not the actual installation. Happy NY buddy!
Great cars, I’ve got a Z4MR and absolutely love it. Also had the bearings done last year for peace of mind!
I had an Si……lovely car but what a nightmare to sell. It was a lovely example and I practically gave it away. I seen some Si’s and M’s on the market for over a year before the ads disappeared. Although these are lovely cars they are niche, impractical and not cheap to run (certainly not the M). You really need to love these cars to buy one and there’s plenty to choose from.
Well they have a Carly car fault finder and now we have a Benji fault finder 😂😂🤣class video mate as always! Great video..I like the actual working on car videos..even with moady Ash.. 😂.have a good new year guys..💪👌👌.im working on a 206..hdi..gti..bit of a retro hot hatch..but diesel..hopefully get it up to 180bhp..with a hybrid turbo front mount intercooler different injectors dpf delete..iv recovered headliner with alencatar bigger front brakes off an 307gti..300mm..it started as a cheap run around as the fuel economy from the 1.6 hdi engine is great.. just about to change rear beam..as iv got one with anti tramp bars from an sw..but got to do some drilling and re tapping ..as my axle is disc..keep up the good work I love watching..💪👌

Just goes to show how uneducated Joe Public car buyers are. They hear M car and ask if the rod bearings have been done....
The fact that the z4m came with the 3.2 litre s54 straight 6 engine that didn't suffer from the rod problems of the v10 and the occasional v8
If I'd have been selling it, I'd have told people that asked the question to go and educate themselves on what vehicle they're buying 😅
lol you clearly know nothing then, all the S54 engines suffer from it dunno where you heard the s54 dont have problems, but its very wrong, its big myth that later ones didnt have issues , In fact BMW did a recal on that engine for the bearings between 2000 and 2003, but they all suffer. Where the confusion is is people thinking they need doing sooner than they do, some can do 200 k miles and still be fine, but rather than take risk best to get them done, i did my 2004 M3 (same engine) at 60,000 miles but if car has regular oil change and not thrashed from cold they can last way longer. BMW did a revised rod bearing on the later models out the factory but they still suffer with it, basically if your planning on keeping car long term, get them done. Maybe do little research before posting an incorrect comment.

Did you even watch the video? The bearings were worn when removed, so good job they were being replaced.
@user-vd1xz8qm9w take any engine bearing out at over 100k and it'll have wear marks as seen in the upload
@@ZafiraSteve well clearly the rod bearings do suffer as the video showed. Yes they’re not as problematic as the v8 or v10 but they do wear. It’s called preventative maintenance and could mean the difference between an engine that does 100k to one that does 200k. I can’t believe you’d make a statement like you did above and then try to defend it.

Followed this channel from the very early days…and can genuinely say this was the most disappointed in an upload I have been, the content was again repetitive, ash (seems like a decent bloke), but clearly does not want to be or isn’t comfortable on camera. Benji you are really struggling trying to keep the viewers interested without someone to bounce off…believe me I want to see you guys and this channel succeed, so please don’t take this criticism personally.
