I've hear from the old movie gun rental companies that the 92F are the most reliable guns to run blanks with. Probably why John Woo likes using them. Chow Young-Fat mentioned in "The Replacement Killers" he fired so many blank rounds in one day he couldn't eat with chop sticks for a week. 😂

    • @gameragodzilla

@@BrianKern2121 John Woo also likes them because they're quite large as well as high capacity, so they have awesome screen presence and you can shoot them constantly without reloading, something Woo famously never gave a damn about (and even questioned why American moviegoers cared so much about that).

The Chuck Norris movies were cheesey, but the Van Damm ones are downright awful. How the hell did I ever take them seriously? I used to practice the stupid Van Damm kicks in the basement as I watched him on screen. Took out more than one lamps that way.
But I don’t cringe at my love for the 92. Die Hard and Lethal Weapon drive me to get one as soon as I could. I’ve had a bunch of them. Really regret selling my all INOX model and the INOX Cougar I had.

I think the part in lethal weapon where riggs is preparing to end it, and the scene shows the 92 HYPER clear with the muted background, and the zoomed in shot as he puts the 9mm round in the chamber.. its so artfully done and really shows the lines and beauty of the pistol.

Yeah. The grip medallion was not standard at all though. Clearly put in the to identify the brand. Not to mention the scene where Murtaugh checks out Riggs’ gun. I can recite his lines word for word. “Hmm. 9MM Beretta,
15 rounds in the magazine, one in the chamber. Wide ejection port. No feed jams”. Sounded like an intentionally written in commercial and it surely worked.

Yeah got the Beretta 92a1. Love it so much. Its used in the bourne trilogy my personal favorite spy series. Jason Bourne uses it in bourne supremacy and an assassin uses it in the Bourne ultimatum. Jason uses the 92FS and the assassin uses a variation the 92SB.

Not all 92s are cheap. Try pricing a Beretta 92 Fusion on Gun Broker. They will set you back 12K-13k. The base 92FS starts at 700 bucks in my area. Also a 92 needs Nothing to run a suppressor and threaded barrels can be picked easy for the 92. Every lefty should also own a 92😊.

Any 92 list without "The Killer", "Hard Boiled" and "The Replacement Killers" is invalid. At least "A Better Tomorrow" got a mention. All 3 above are better. All John Woo/Chow Yun Fat. Minus the Beretta thing, "The Killer" is one of the best action movies ever IMO.

I love my Beretta...96! Plus I got it for a song!! When 92/96s were still going for 700 hundred plus!! Upgraded it with VZ grips and a Wolf spring kit and it's perfect!! (It actually fits my hand! It didn't when I carried it on duty...) Good stuff!!
Good call on Ronin! But you missed The Replacement Killers!! That opening scene beats The Proffessional hands down! Granted, I'm not saying the movie is top 5 based off of screen presence but...that opening club scene and the marked shell? C'mon!

Love hate relationship with the 92. My original 92S Italy, love it, simple but the feel and accuracy is phenomenal. 92X usa hate it, very poor accuracy, maybe I purchased a lemon, Beretta USA no warranty help. Beretta 92X Performance Italy, what an awesome handgun. To me the double/single action accuracy surpasses the CZ Shadow 2 and I love my S2.

While it's true the 92FS runs well on movie blanks, let's take a minute to appreciate also, that the muzzle flash you see in these movies are from an era BEFORE fake shitty computer generated flashes. What the camera captured outta the front of the gun is what the camera captured in real life. That muzzle flash from McClain's 92 under to table? Real. All the John Woo Hard Boiled and Better Tomorrow close range blank gun work? Real. All that took skill, man.
Today, far too many directors and 1st AD's are gun shy about using "the good stuff", half and full loads and are super quick to substitute shitty solid plug loads that have no recoil and they figure "we'll just add it in post". There's a reason why the majority of today's on screen gunfights look like shit.

The first time for me was seeing Riggs almost commit suicide via the 92 in LW-1. That scene is.... tough. I'm 50 and I still tear up (as a current LEO), whereas at 12 I was in shock. But it's certainly a first close up of the 92 in the movie.

I would like to bring up the most accurate depiction of the 92FS. The movie Colors. Also a very realistic portrayal of police work. Robert Duvall as Hodges carries one. His younger partner McGavin carries a 6" S&W .38 spec. A common weapon for LAPD officers of thst era. He would have been a 5 year vetetan to become assigned to CRASH. Which places his hira date prior to the adoption of the 92FS by LAPD. Which was 1985. They were monitoring the US military trials. Sig P226 was not made in the numbers to supply that department and relied on importer Saco Defense to bring to the US. Beretta was ready to go. CRASH officers were already using the 92 versions with mag release near the trigger gaurd. Some personal 92FS's were also showing up. Two autos were authorized. 92FS and S&W 59. The 59 had issues feeding JHP ammo that weren't rectified until 1989 with the 5906. The Beretta 92 from day one ran good with JHP ammo. Many officers did not trust semi autos and they werent really authorized anyway unless SWAT or another speciality allowed or required it. So McGavin was one of these wheelgun loyalist. He uses a stainless 3" .S&W for off duty and plainclothes work and uses a 2" as a backup gun. While you would think Hodges would be of that opinion what was shown was more accurate. As soon as the 92 was issued department wide it was fine to keep your revolver as your duty weapon and many officers did. But a lot of older officers by that time had enough of the 6rds and slow reload times. Many officers that had on duty shootings opted for the 92FS. Colors doesnt depict much for officer involved shootings. McGavin as well as every other officer opens up on Gerardo "Rico Suave" Meja after he shoots and kills Hodges. They also smoke that hot latina bitch that was next to him when he did it. But that is the extent of the two main characters gunfighting. Lethal Weapon is cool. Its more of a Christmas movie than Die Hard. Opens up with Jingle Bell Rock. Riggs kills more people just escaping the nightclub than Mclane kills the entirety of Die Hard 1. Including that weird perv looking fast draw dude sitting at the bar. He also does a firing from retention point blank range drill while pulling his offhand into his chest so he doesnt shoot it early in the film. But Murtaugh finds Riggs carrying a 92FS to be unique. At that time it had been department issue for 2 years. Thought he clearly is familiar with the weapon he would have seen well over 70% of his co-workers already carrying it. His new partner carrying one wouldnt have been worth mentioning. Colors doesnt explain anything about the depiction of the weapon to the audience. I met a retired LAPD officer who moved back here to Albuquerque where he was from. Very much a gun guy and was there during that time. The depiction of the gangs in the film and their firepower was also accurate. The amount of cocaine purchased to make crack often put early street gangs in contact with arms traffickers that could obtain full auto weapons. The MAC 11 9MM was very common and there were a lot of easy to convert open bolt versions produced and sold before ATF ended that. Sorry for the long post but i thought it might be relevant and as always i loved this video and you're unique movie pics for my favorite gun. First got a 92 when i was 13. Im 46 now and it is what i choose assuming 9mm is appropriate for the job. Ive had really good luck with them. I also maintain the ones ive had over the years and use good magazines. So all of mine have worked.
