RIDICULOUS Yearly Costs Of A Superyacht Explained

Superyachts are like regular yachts but bigger and therefore more expensive. Yachts are large, but superyachts are huge: think 78 feet (24 meters) or longer. If a yacht is a symbol of luxury and excess, a superyacht is a symbol of even more luxury and excess.
A yacht of any size, but in particular a large one, is a money pit. It can easily cost 10% a year to run your yacht. So a $10 million yacht will be around $1 million a year in running costs (think about the crew, insurance, maintenance, mooring fees, etc.). Most superyacht owners don’t spend nearly enough time on their yachts, to make the cost worth it.
For example Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos, spends so little time on her $40 million yacht - one of at least 10 ships belonging to the DeVos family that a group of vandals managed to set it free over the summer.
The crew of a superyacht operates 24/7 and often lives in quarters on the yacht, including a captain, chefs, interior staff, deck crew, and engineers to ensure the smooth running of the yacht. Superyachts may solely be used by their owners, or could be chartered for others to travel and enjoy the luxuries it has to offer. For the yearly costs, Just calculate approximately 1/10th of the yacht's value

@@Yacht-News Yeah, I've seen others reference 10% of the yachts cost as the annual upkeep for them. Obviously it's not always going to be right, but it will at least get you in the ballpark for the size/price of yacht you are considering.

Thats a GOOD deal, buy a yacht for $650 million and it will only cost you $3.7 million to operate per year (well if I have $20 billion assets then it wont be nothing to spend a whopping $5 million a year to operate a $650 million boat (I mean ship)

The cost of the charter is plus expenses including food, fuel, taxes and gratuity for the crew! The owner doesn't carry the whole cost!
