    This is such a beautiful dress! You look beautiful in it too! I absolutely love the fabric and the big lemons!! I love the neckline on this dress is amazing! I have thus pattern and this is definitely on my list to sew now. That's so strange about the fabric requirements but definitely not unheard of! Thank you for the heads-up because sometimes I won't even buy a pattern if I have to use too much fabric. Thank you for sharing and love the pictures!

    This video was so helpful! I’ve been waiting to cut mine because my fabric was only 4 yards. I was also concerned and my full bust. Yours came out beautifully. I think I’ll make it without the belt and just wear a leather belt. Thank you! Well done!

      You’re welcome Sheree. It will be so easy to do an FBA or go up a size. The pattern is semi-loose fitting. I’m so glad this review was helpful. Thanks for watching.

    Hi, Tea. Your dress is so pretty. It’s great that you were able to get the dress cut out with the shorter amount of fabric. Such a great idea to cut the skirt pieces on the fold. That was brilliant.

    You look so pretty in this dress. I love this floral print and the unique neckline. Thanks for the heads up about the fabric requirements. Cutting the skirt pieces on the fold was a great idea for this large-scale print. It really makes the fabric shine!😊

      Hey Crystal! Yea that skirt requirement is a bit much. I just knew I could get a dress with almost 4 yards of fabric if I used my on fabric layout. Love this print too.

  • @lynnew5619
    @lynnew5619 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Very pretty dress. I too have trouble with sleeves due to my big biceps. I can never find a winter coat for this reason. They just scale up patterns which is not the way to do it, as not everything on a larger body increases by the same amount! I am a true pear shape so it never works for me.

    • @crumpetsteaandsewing
      @crumpetsteaandsewing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree! I hate the scale up method. I’m a triangle, so everything on my lower half is much smaller than my busy, back and arms. It’s a pain. The only way I can avoid bicep adjustments is if I make patterns that have flutter, puff, or bishop sleeves. Even then, sometimes I still have to do a bicep adjustment on a bishop sleeve. It’s so frustrating.

    Beautiful! I used this pattern for short sleeved knee-length version. I steered away from the maxi length because of the yardage requirement/suggestion. When you cut pieces, did you use their layout form or cut pieces as you saw fit?
    And you may have answered my question further in your vlog. Thanks!

    • @crumpetsteaandsewing

    This dress looks gorgeous on you. I have the pattern as well, you mentioned that you cut the skirt on the fold, which I would like to copy. I am a beginner , may I ask do you fold the skirt pattern in half and than cut on fold. But then you only have one cut and you needed two each for the back and front. I can't wrap my head around it, could you explain that a little more please? Apologies for this question, but I really love the dress especially on you. Many Thanks

    • @crumpetsteaandsewing
      @crumpetsteaandsewing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Iwi! This is a good question! I’m so glad you asked this before cutting into your fabric. I should have been more clear. My apologies! In sewing “cutting on the fold” is referred to as placing your pattern pieces on the folded side of your fabric. When you purchase your fabric from the store most likely it will be on a bolt, and the fabric will already folded in half. One side will be folded, the other side will be the selvage, which is the edge of the fabric (usually marked by a copyright or label of some sort). Sometimes, pattern pieces need to be placed on that folded end of the fabric in order to avoid center seams. Other times, patterns need to be placed on the grain line (the length of the fabric which is horizontal). In my case, the pattern suggests to cut two pieces of fabric for the front skirt and two pieces of fabric for the back skirt on the grain line. Instead, I subtracted the seam allowance for both pattern pieces and placed the skirt pattern pieces on the folded edge of my fabric. I removed the seam allowance because I no longer needed it since I wasn’t sewing the two front pieces and the two back pieces together. So instead of 4 skirt panel pieces, I now had two skirt panel pieces, one for the front and one for the back. There are a few things you should know before doing this though. First, be sure you understand what you are doing and why you’re doing it. You can’t do this with any pattern. Second, look at the design of the pattern featured on the pattern’s cover. You may find that cutting two pieces instead of cutting on fold is a design feature that drew you to the pattern. Lastly, cutting two pieces instead of cutting on fold may be necessary for your closures like buttons or zippers. In this case you won’t be able to avoid cutting two pieces out without some major modifications. I hope this was helpful. If you need me to clarify anything I said here let me know. Thanks!

      @@crumpetsteaandsewing I really appreciate your explanation in this very detail. I will definitely go now and hopefully tackle the pattern. Apologies again for such a beginner question. In my head I could not figure out why I now only have one piece instead of two and it would make the same with. Many thanks

      @@crumpetsteaandsewing I really like that you placed the pattern on the fold and removed 5/8 inch. That was a pro move and I do that too sometimes. I have come a long way in my sewing journey too so to revisit this video and hear you say it is exciting for me. Yah willing, I am making this pattern soon. Also do not like the fact that this pattern is so fabric greedy and placing it on the fold appears to help with the amount needed.
