- Natsuho Murata performs Paganini: Cantabile in D Major as the first of two contrasting pieces for Round II of the International Television Competition of Young Musicians "The Nutcracker" (in which she won the first prize, "Golden Nutcracker", for strings) in December 2018, age 11.
One cannot help but be transported by the hauntingly beautiful melodic line Natsuho evokes from her bow (as were the judges obviously). It is a contrast indeed to the second piece that followed, the virtuosic Wieniawski Scherzo-Tarantella that has had more exposure by being featured by TwoSetViolin: • When an 11 Year Old CR... from • Video .
PS: You can support Natsuho during these difficult pandemic times by obtaining a ticket (only 500 yen or US$5) to her recent online recital in the Save the Young Artists program curated by her renowned teacher, Koichiro Harada: www.stya-onlin... ; Natsuho is the Vol. 7 performer.
Now 13 years old, Natsuho begins her recital of four pieces with the Schubert Sonatina in D major op.137 No.1 where once again she weaves her melodic magic in the second Andante movement, as well as the lyrical passages of the Saint-Saens Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso that ends the recital. Sandwiched between are the Wieniawski Scherzo-Tarantella and a riveting account of the monumental Chaconne (Ciaccona) from Bach's Solo Partita No.2. (Edit: see the link below for a sample clip of this).
PS2: If after watching the online recital you think Natsuho looked sad, it is attributable to the taxing filming environment with just the accompanying pianist and the cameramen. Natsuho has shown herself to be a performer for big occasions whether on the competition stage or concert hall. Yes, there is a significant change in her performance style since late December 2019 as shown by her performance of the 3rd movement of the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto in Moscow, her confidence moderating the seriousness: • Video .
You may be as relieved as I am when you see the photos of the smiling schoolgirl in the publicity announcement for her last live public recital on 26 September 2020: www.norakubow.... . (With the Chrome browser you can get the English translated page).
UPDATE: You can watch a sample clip of Natsuho performing the Bach Chaconne from her online recital here: • Aspen Online Concert ”... .
Sehr schöne, gefühlvolle Interpretation.
夏帆さん、心にズンと響きます。
ジュニアでこれほど繊細に音色、音量のコントロールができる人を見たことがありません。夏帆さんは本当にすばらしい。
Beautifuly well done !!
Dear Tony Chinn Thank you so much for your posting a beautiful Paganini's
Cantabile performed by Natsuho with your introducing Natsuho in detail.
Невероятный талант❤
@Tony Chinn Scherzo-Tarantelie, like Paganini's Cantabile in this video, is one of
the repertoires ever performed by Natsuho in Moscow, Montreal, New York and so on.
It is Sarasate's introduction and Rondo Capriccioso that follows such a trajectory like
Scherzo-Tarantelle. Natsuho was invited by Pavel Vernikov to Sion Festival in Switzer-
land to perform this piece with the Orchestra in Sion Cathedral on Sunday 18 August
2019. In the video at that time, only her violin sound is just heard @ 3.20, and then
Natsuho herself appears @3.31. Applause of thunder for her wonderful playing
at the ending.→ th-cam.com/video/seZpiMxD5qo/w-d-xo.html
I asked for posting its full version but there is no answer, so far.
@Yoshinobu Tsujikawa Thanks for the Sion Festival link. Like you I have collected all I can find on Natsuho's performances and although I am aware of her performing there I could not find that video. Is there a video of her performing the whole piece, that would be great to compare it with the Moscow one I uploaded here? And did you see her performing the two works in a room in New York before the her actual concert in Carnegie Hall? vimeo.com/354491104 . I think she also performed the Scherzo-Tarantella with piano in a New Year's concert in Toppan Hall, Tokyo on 6/1/2019. So glad to share our interest in Natsuho.
@@tonychinn3400 Thank you for your detailed reply. The full version of Sion Festival
was requested through TH-cam of " Best Of Sion Festival 2019 "and also through Facebook Of " Paroisse de la Cathédrale de Sion, Valais--CH ". But there are no
answers. I have already watched the video you pointed out, which was held
two days before her playing at Carnegie's Zankei hall. At first in japan, Aspen
company publicly released a video of Natsuho. Here in Japan, there is still a
kind of resistance to focus specially on an individual in elementary and junior
high school students. Therefore, an entity like Natsuho has to develop its talent
abroad. I am very happy to share our same feelings.
@@yoshinobutsujikawa5183 Thank you for the information about the attitude to school-age performers in Japan. That is why Natsuho had two big years internationally in 2018 and 2019. Her win in the 2018 Il Piccolo Violino Magico opened opportunities for her to perform in Italy in 2019, including two Mozart Violin Concerto No.3 in Pordenone, the "Summer" from Vivaldi's Four Seasons to celebrate the Summer solstice in the seaside town of Lignano Sabbiadoro, all with the same orchestra, Accademia d'Archi Arrigoni. In a castle in a town south of Cremona on 29/06/2019 the relevant webpage just mentioned she performed with piano, Beethoven and Mozart. Do you happen to know what pieces they were, particularly the Beethoven which is in the Repertoire of round 2 of the Menuhin Competition? I'm just a bit curious about her possible choices for the coming Competition, getting some idea from what she has already performed.
@@tonychinn3400 I was impressed with your search ability. First of all, at dawn
on 21 June in the summer solstice (Crazy, isn't it?), which is associated with
Heminway Award, Natsuho have played Vivaldi's "L'Estate" (Summer) at Arenile
del Faro Rosso. The second is that She has been casted on the radio station
of Rai 3 bis (channel 103) on June 23 (Sun), but I could not confirm whether
she actually appeared live or not ( recorded). The third is about the title names
by Mozart and Beethoven which you asked. The related articles were asked as
paid (?), and I could not get further information. An advertisement of "Murata
(11anni) e F. Mussutto pianoforte in Il violino magico" may be useful for further
search. I will be in touch with you if I find out anything more.
@Tony Chinn Re; further information Italian friend tells that Natsuho
played 2 pieces of Mozart's sonata for violin and piano Kv 301 and
Beethoven's Sonata in D major op. 12 # 1 with F. Mussuto (pianoforte)
in Castello on 29th June 2019
The judges should stand on the stage instead of her and must be judged by her. Please realize that the world is reversed!
