    I am always mindful of the first thing my instructor told me when I was learning to fly microlight aircraft: Don’t fly over anything you don’t want to land on.

    All I'm going to say is 'obstacle avoidance'⚠️😲😳
    I'll add, if you're going to fly at an event over people with hazards around such as light poles and your drone has advanced safety features like obstacle avoidance, at least use them!😲🤔
    Most likely, this pilot felt that he didn't need them and he could fly without them, or the constant annoying beeping was a distraction, that is the usual reason many turn them off.😊

    Hi Sean, I really like this new snappy news format, it has enough info to decide whether I need to dive deeper into the subject.
    Also very interesting to see that the smaller drones are now being accepted into broadcasting.

    Must admit went to a outdoor concert couple of months ago and was surprised to see a drone flying around the crowd and above the stage, but must admit the operator kept it well above the crowd and trees and equipment.
    Apart from something going drastically wrong, but still surprised me that they do that.

    I remember the app DJI GO had a virtual crayon that you could draw on the map, I always thought DJI was going to progress it to enable to draw areas to confine the drone within , something like that used beforehand you could map out the area before flight , draw around obstacles like poles trees etc to limit where the drone could fly within the wall you built , that way you can fly as fast move around etc with zero fear of crashing into anything hence keep spectators safe , I am sure there are some third party app that already do this but only on older drones that DJI has released the SDK for ?

    • @Geeksvana
      @Geeksvana  วันที่ผ่านมา

      That sounds like a very good idea! A bit of digital protection wouldn't hurt! I don't think I ever used the map draw function on DJI GO.

    I'd say bringing up obstacle avoidance is the same as saying was tesla in self driving mode. It doesn't matter, the operator should be in control of the drone at all times, and have a visual line of sight at all time. I fly drones in Canada, Transport Canada (FAA equivalent) certified.

    Even if it wasn’t flown directly over people it was flown close to people. Trees are tall but not that tall for the most part so if he crashed into a lighting pole between two trees and that led to him hitting people then either the drone was going at considerable speed so it went a decent distance from where it hit the pole or it was flown very close to being directly over people.

    • @3goldfinger
      @3goldfinger วันที่ผ่านมา

      Please put things in perspective, shit happens. Today, in Australia, a semi truck lost control and ran into a farmhouse killing two 80 year people. Small aircraft fall out of the sky on a daily basis killing people. Electric scooters injuries more people than a drone ever could. Drones will be part of our daily lives, better get used to it.

    The DJI Mavic 3 Cine is classified as? My guess is C2 and it should not fly above people like that. Different in the US? The horisontal distance is stated to be 150 meter or 500 feet. To fall in an angle hitting people can't be possible.
    I once got hit by a Mavic 3 pro prop, during landing, in one finger. It gave a blue mark that hurt a bit for a month. No blood spill.
    DJI could surely tell how the system reacts when one prop is jammed. Stopping all or not? I know the Mavic 2 pro would fight for regaining the balance.
    Thanks for the short, concentrated report!

    • @Geeksvana
      @Geeksvana  วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Thanks for the feedback! Also, yes the Cine is C2. In the UK the CAA use the 121 rule in guidance for separation. So a metre up for every metre from the people.
      It will be interesting to see the final report as I believe it would have required a waiver and a parachute in the US. Although that is if he was doing so, etc.

      @@Geeksvana Please follow this up! It's very interesting!
      As I wrote, not sure how the DJI system acts when a prop hits an object but a 2 pro did fight and recovered. Then comes the question what "Your" pilot did with the controls.

    Clearly a lot of pre flight planning didn’t happen - surely flying between two trees will have implications to VLOS (depending on his location of course) - I was taught to note all obstacles in the flying zone

    Production companies and news agencies have used the mavic series for years now. They represent the quickest and easiest way to get footage, in the most portable way possible. For news, no one cares about picture quality or the need to colour correct...the footage is all that matters, why spend 10/15 grand when 500/1500 will do? The majority of footage ends up being used on social media anyway these days, the uav is just a tool.
