I live in a small 1950's house, the bathrooms are very small. Most times there's only one bathroom in the house. We had to add one. I'm amazed by how large the bathrooms were in the 20's ! I would love a large bathroom !
I know! I love the 1920s style
Those bathrooms are works of art. My maternal grandma was born in 1918 and had older female relatives that she described as flappers. She had childhood memories of them wearing Tangee rouge, and more than likely the lipstick too. I love the the pictures of the old products. I love your bedroom Laura, you are so blessed. Thanks for the video. 💕🛁🧼💄
Awe thank you! So neat she wore Tangee!
@@Laurajaneatelier That's when I first heard of it, as a tween back in the 1970s 🙂💋
I loved this video, Laura! Very interesting. Important to remember though, these were the homes of wealthy people. I don't think the usual household had bathrooms like these. Many didn't even have a sink with running water in the 20s.
I'm a Real Estate Agent in Memphis and we still have in the Midtown area, houses built in the 1920's. I've seen so many of the pale pink amd sea foam green bathrooms and pedestal sinks.
Love hearing the background of this era!
Wow cool are the houses expensive?
I was born 1968 and I can clearly remember being bathed with palmolive soap I have a photo of me holding it in a tin bath then I can remember my mother using colgate tooth paste good times xx
Oh wow 🤩 thanks for sharing
Palmolive soap, me too
I wd love to see bathrooms from as many decades as possible.
I LOVE those 1920’s bathrooms with their tiles and archway tubs! ❤
I love this! Keep the vintage videos coming. I adore the colors
Thanks so much!
This is wonderful! I still use “Camay” soap and my husband uses “Ivory.” In the 1970’s I was fortunate to live in a Hollywood apartment that was built in 1923. It had the original mint green and black bathroom tiles and the entire building had been “updated” true to the original design. It was down the street from Schwab’s original pharmacy and across the street from the infamous “Garden of Allah” hotel. I loved living there. I have always been a huge fan of the Art Deco movement and still collect decor, perfume, and cosmetics from that marvelous era. Thank you for this lovely homage to perhaps the greatest decade in the world of style!
So glad you enjoyed this
How cool! I'm a little jealous but glad for you. Lol❤
Hello, where do you buy „Camay“ Soap? I used it in the late 70s, but after that, I didnt find it in the stores. I wished I still could buy it🙏🏻
@@elfriedekurz1692see below!
I used cake mascara as a child in the 60s. My Mom bought me makeup to play with
I love the green and white one with the tub in the middle of the room. Thanks for sharing. See you next time. Have a good day
I know me too!! Thanks for watching
The first apartment I shared with my husband had an Art Deco bathroom done in lavender, white and black tiles. It was beautiful and I miss it!
The Green bathroom with White and black accents was Gorgeous! 💚🤍🖤
Ohh the Wrigley Mansion. I went to High School in AZ; we had our Senior Prom there. I believe it was built in the tail end of the 20s-- '29, I think. I don't remember too much about the restrooms, unfortunately, but if the staircase and the ceilings.. Wow. Just wow. They give tours if anyone ever finds themselves visiting AZ :)
Love this video! Love the 20s bathrooms, these wete very upscale, a lot of rural homes then still had outhouses.
Love those bathrooms!
Me too!!
The 1920s the decade of all kinds of interesting fashion and trends
Thank you so much…love, love, love those bathrooms! I’m a little older viewer and remember some of the beauty products, especially the mascara!
So happy you enjoyed this !!
Love all your videos Laura. Such a wonderful way to revisit history, and remembrance of a special era gone by
Aww thank you!!
Art deco is my FAV art decor style of all time!! And the mossy all green bathroom with the center peice tub is gorgeous! I would want that for my own house.
Lmao it's the bathroom from The Shining...
@@user-jt3zv2jc7u Oooooh!! Now I like it even more 😍 🤩 🤣

Thanks so much!! So happy you enjoyed this
@@Laurajaneatelier Oh Yesss I love it 🤩
What beautiful bathrooms back then wow I love it !
The soap floating was discovered
When something went wrong
And Air got into the ingredients.
Then they realized
It's not a mistake
It's a marketing genius idea
The home decor that they had back then had much more character than the stuff they have today. Hopefully, there will be nicer things introduced as the 21st century progresses. In the meantime, I'd like to nominate the 1960s for a video.
I agree! I will add the 1960s to the list
cool video, i have a 1926 house, been restoring my bathroom back to the original!
Very interesting! I had a great aunt that lived it a craftsman bungalow. I always loved her pink and black tiled bathroom. Great historical videos, keep them coming.
All those bathrooms are gorgeous. I love the pale greens and pinks, as well as the other color combo.
My favorite feature are the spaces you enter through an arch.
Hello this is LaTonya here watching your videos like always
Thank you 🙏
I love learning about what toiletries people used in the past. I would be curious to see what was in the typical 1970s bathroom; probably some of the same things I saw growing up in my parents' bathroom in the 80s (my parents almost never threw anything away until it was completely finished up, even makeup, so a lot of products from the 70s were still in use in our household!).
Great episode!
That green one is from Kuberic’s the Shining.
This was really interesting, and I had no idea how beautiful the bathrooms were back then. I love the pinks & mint greens 💗
I loved this video. Well done!
Thanks for watching
Thanks for the great video Laura! I have tried several of the Tangee products from The Vermont Country Store and like them very much. My former friend lived in a 1930s house that had a beautiful black and mint green bathroom. Also, have you ever done a video on Rita Hayworth's favorite beauty products?
In Perú 🇵🇪 people still use Camay, Palmolive and Lux soaps.
Thanks
Fabulous video. Houses were gorgeous back then! Loved this period 😇
Thanks for watching
Such an elegant era..❤..unlike today where everything looks the same..ugh..
Who did the construction of these houses?
Moshi
I dunno but I love them
Thank you! New subbie here. Take care
Our bathroom is still just as it was built in 1969 including the pink tiled shower and bathtub combo. My parents bought the house brand new. Just having to replace some things.
There's still tooth powders! You can usually find them in health food stores. It actually cleans the teeth very well. I like them.
My husband has used 3 flowers for years
I still use pears soap, glycerin and oil of rosemary. Unfortunately it’s now altered the original ingredients.
The decade before my dad and his siblings were born
My dad always told me how his grandmother used bar soap to clean her hair and rain water. She would have been a young adult in the 20s. Maybe it was just something poor country people did and wasn't terribly common.
I loved Lux Soap ,but around the early 1980s it disappeared from our local stores. I loved the fresh smell and miss it.
