    Majority of what I’ve seen about Ovi scoring is negative because it was an empty netter, people don’t realize how big of a morale booster that is for the Caps coming off of a long break and being without their captain for 40 days

      Ovechkin wouldn't be out on the ice with the opponent's goalie pulled if Washington wasn't playing great hockey as a team and winning as a result. Empty net goals are an indicator of how good the rest of the team is around him.

      People bitching have never gotten hit in the knee. Hurts a ton. Absolutely not Necas's fault the refs are result-oriented callers. Sure, fair argument the hit maybe wasn't a penalty or major. As a devils fan they got outplayed by Carolina which was obvious. I saw this loss coming from a mile away. They had won the previous three games and were playing a back to back. I would not go as far as to say the game was decided by the refs. All of the game stats point towards Carolina being the better team tonight. I think both canes fans and devils fans can agree that overall officiating has not been great. I feel like every team’s fans should come together to call out the officiating instead of arguing with each other about what should have been called and what shouldn’t have been called. I am of the belief that refs can influence games but not decide them. What decides games is who puts more pucks in the net. That’s my take on the whole canes devils game last night and refs sucking this whole season for a large majority of teams.

      what are you talking about? The game was still 2-2 until that major penalty was called. It certainly interfered with the momentum of the game in the Canes favor. If you want to talk about stats, just look at the difference in penalty minutes and tell me that is not biased officiating. There always seems to be with that certain ref crew. It's suspect officiating to say the least.

    • @xxantiaircraftxx
      @xxantiaircraftxx 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@scoot333I’m not saying the officiating wasn’t biased. Regardless of whether officiating is biased they don’t decide a game, they certainly can influence the game. Also, the penalty minutes are not the only stat. Almost every single stat from that game goes in favor of the hurricanes. That ref crew being 12-0-1 when reffing hurricanes home games is certainly concerning and worthy of investigation. Until there’s a trusted and reputable source that reports on that I’m taking it with a grain of salt.

    I never complain about officiating, but tonight’s game was actually so hard to watch. So many missed Carolina penalties, and that Meier hit that was fine until they realized Necas was “hurt” and decided to go back and throw Meier out of the game and give him 5 minutes to silence the crowd, then Necas literally doesn’t miss a shift. Not to be that guy but like how do you go from looking like you need to be stretchered off to skating perfectly fine in like one minute. They also missed an interference call on Luke Hughes and instead called Jack for a penalty right after. The Carolina crowd is so loud and electric you can hear it on the TV, and it kinda feels like they were influencing the refs tonight

    • @jma.87

      It's all because Necas stayed down instead of going to the bench after the hit. A bad stinger turns into a major and an ejection -- all for Necas to ultimately miss zero time. That's Sheldon's beef with it, and I see why. It decided the game. Devils were mad after that, got really chippy, and now the Haula on Orlov hit is being talked about equally. (But that all happened after this pivotal call, loss of a top 6 fwd, and subsequent goal. They wanted their pound of flesh for what they thought was gamesmanship).

    • @london6580
      @london6580 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@jma.87 to be fair, getting hit like that with a stinger, Necas probably didn’t know what was wrong at the time. If you got hit like that and thought you might’ve blown out your knee, you probably wouldn’t be racing to get up and put weight on it right away. Also, there was the review and a commercial break before he came back out. It isn’t like he got the call and popped back up. This talk that it was intentional is kinda silly imo

  • @jma.87
    @jma.87 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +13

    Regarding Necas, it's that he stayed down so long on the ice instead of even attempting to get helped to the bench that influenced the refs most in NJ's eyes. No call and a really bad stinger turns into a major and a game for Meier. And he doesn't miss a shift. I'm glad he's not seriously hurt, but it changed the entire complexion of a 2-2 divisional game for no reason. Haula-Orlov... Yeah, context matters. The game was decided then, NJ was mad about the perceived gamesmanship, and they wanted their pound of flesh at that point. Using that hit as "both sides got screwed" doesn't really apply - calling a major on Haula at that point in the game is completely irrelevant to deciding who wins.
    It's a split, both teams stay exactly where they were and burn two games. Onto the next one.

      @jma.87 3 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@maxfish4270 No. Devils fans would have complained less about a major if Necas was ACTUALLY injured 🙄 but you missed the point, Max. There's a code that you don't stay down unless you're REALLY hurt. Players try to get to the bench (or hobble) at all costs unless you're really done.
      Sheldon Keefe is the one who said post game something along the lines of: "A tough message for the players that if you take a big hit that laying down on the ice has its benefits"...
      When I say "in NJ's eyes", I'm talking about the players and the coach with that in mind, not the fans. They thought the result sucked, and that Necas being 100% fine leaves a suspicion of gamesmanship. Not saying it IS gamesmanship, a suspicion of it.

    I think you need to weigh in on more of the controversial issues within a game because glossing over the Timo "major" as if its nothing is kind of wild. The officiating in that game was horrendous and the league should look into those officiators to see what the heck happened throughout the game. Necas should be fined for the dive as well. Even Canes broadcast didnt think that was a major. embarrassing.

    Neccas is a soccer player rather than a hockey player. He acts like he is out the rest of the game and once he gets the call, he gets up and doesn’t miss a shift. It was a terrible call by the refs and they definitely bet on the game to have Canes win.
