The final project will be as good as any car out there !! That is for the amount of time and work put into it. All the negative crap you gotta listen to and now that it’s about painted people should apologize to you. You are a master who can do amazing work without spending much money 💰 and that makes you the best for the money I’ve ever ever seen !! You are amazing and so is your team….. ❤✌🏼😎💯🏆🏆🏆🍻🍻🐕
This thing is going to look bad ass. When all the chrome is back on, wow. The colour will pop even more. Peanut butter interior would look rich on this. Love you guys, hello from Brisbane Australia, was hoping to catch you at Murwillumbah but hopefully next year eh. 👍
Chad some of the best looking custom jobs and paint jobs have come out of little back yard garages back in the day when the custom era all started!! Don't worry what others think. Hiltz shop is rockin it👍 and with such an amazing camera woman to boot life must be amazing there 😉👍✌️. I have 3 brothers that were into body work and Customs at home so I get where you are coming from bad Chad 💯🎯 keep moving forward 👍💯🎯✌️.
Tremendous effort chad really loving this build. You Jolene Nathan and Doug has done such a great job on this loving it been watching this all the way from the London and the UK. Please keep up the great work mate
Jolene , Congrats on your color selection. Most of us viewers wouldn't have even hought of that Root Beer Brown. A light beige interior would go well with your chosen color. A new nickname for the 1950 Ford Shoe Box Coupe. Would be "THE FLOAT ". Yes it would be great to see Nate back at the shop working on the Hudson Terra Plane and some of the ongoing projects. I'm sure Nate booked himself elsewhere due to your planned month down under.
I'm not going to lie, when you first popped the paint lid I was thinking oh man oh no it's going to be the turd mobile. After it was sprayed on the hood, trunk, and fender skirts I really liked it. Good choice Jolene and I hope the rest of the car looks just as good. It should pop against the chrome. Good job laying the paint Chad looked awesome and the paint had a good reflection. A heavily creamed coffee colored interior would look awesome.
Made my day buddy !! Nice to see paint go on. I had a garage at my house in the 1980's and painted with R&M Brand single stage Urethane . Everyone ask me how I kept it on the panels without running. Most guys didn't like it as they always had runs. I really liked as it would lay down nice and flat. Looks like your gun is doing a nice job. I used to use a DeVilbiss.
I can live with that color. I just hope that 3 coats does not make it any darker for each coat applied. Good choice Jolene, there''s thousands of colors out there and this one will work!
That’s a very nice color Miss Jolene choose and Chad done and a great job of spraying and let’s not forget Doug he done a real good job as well, what a team it’s gonna look amazing
250,000 outstanding paint colors to choose from, & Jolene picked plain butt turd brown!? And I thought Chad putting 125 pounds of primer on that heap was bad.
@@richardburro770 I was thinking about that, someone with Nate’s talent would be fairly busy so with Chad & Jolene planning to be away for a month it makes sense. Cheers from down under.
Jolene has been a big part of this build. Recording everyday, sanding and picking the paint color.. Way to go Jolene! Doug comes in third place with all his hard work and Chad is in first place astounding everyone with his creativity, knowledge and dedication!
My first car was that color. My friends christened it "The Turd". I painted over it with matt black rattle cans, it was 1000% improvement. Whoever sold you that paint should be arrested for crimes against humanity.
Hi Chad, Jolene and Doug; I wasn't sure about the paint color at first but when it went on it actually has a copper hue. I do like it. Can't wait to see the car painted. Then the grill and chrome pieces. I did like the idea you had yesterday when you said you might put wider white walls on it. This car is definitely one of a kind. Good luck the rest of the way down the road.
Plain and simple , Chad has passion and gets better all the time . I have a knack for painting , and Chad has great feel and fun control!! … no wonder there has been jealous haters … but they are slowly dropping off
If you would put some tape on top of the can in a V shape it would minimize the spill. That color was a surprise, but women and chocolate go together. Let the paint fly today.
I started my body shop career in 1970. Things were very different then, We did not have a booth but a separate paint room made of cement blocks painted with 2 heavy coats of white paint. It was always sprayed down with water before painting. We were able to get real clean paint jobs. I know you are not a production paint shop but you will get clean jobs with your set up. Clean filters and clean parts are the key.
I've only imagined this car in tiffany blue since he began building it. Feel like that's not what its going to be - hope its a colour that does justice to such a beautiful piece of art.
Chad when I had my spray booth I had my inlet filters closer to the floor because any dirt that got past the filters would be at ground level and not at a height that would pull the air over the top of the car. Any air moving was at floor level and that worked for my shop. Had some pretty nice paint jobs with little dirt.
Its not the color I would have chosen but it isn't finished yet. It is hard to judge when it isn't finished. Can't wait to see the final product. It will probably blow everyone's mind. Bad Chad is that good! Can't wait to see you paint Jolene's car.
its worth getting some of the old style tinter tops for the paint cans for when you pouring out full tins they have a sealable spout on them, i kept a load of them when the firm i was working for switched mixing schemes the place you get your paint mixed at can get you some for different size tins. nice colour, probably look even better with gold pearl or gold metallic in it
I put up a 2x2 framed paint booth covered in 6mil plastic with 2 fresh air filtres and a exhaust made from a squirrel cage blower from a gas furnace....did the trickll
Chad, I was chuckling when you said how nervous you were... I was nervous as hell before every paint job and I did well over 100. All that preliminary work, sanding, blocking, cleaning, etc... then you have the paint, activator, reducer, etc... In the end, it all comes down your decision to declare it ready to paint, and laying down a smooth paint job. How can you not be nervous?? The paint looks great, it had enough solids in it that those color differences in the primer vanished in the 1st coat!!
Chad. When I was painting, after the final coat I would mix 1 part paint and 2 parts thinner and give it a flash coat it helped the paint lay down and gave me a better job, I think
I let the first coat try up more because you need that driness to suck the solvent out of your second coat so it won't run.Solvent is only a thinner to make the paint sprayable so thats the only time you need it for the second coat. Third coat doesn't need to be dumped on but cut the amount of paint back and move over a little faster farther away to get the metalic to evenly drop on to the surface. I keep my paint fan of the gun at 90 degrees to the surface at all times . Good luck on the car tomorrow.
Looks amazing. Creme interior seems obvious but could get wild with melon red, watermelon, deep salmon red..or deep cabernet.. or that limeymoss green.. charcoal grey even.. that brown is a classy color for sure.
Love Chad's old school work. I come back from Robbie Layton's million dollar shop (which I admire and respect) and forget what a master Chad is in his shop. Great stuff. Love that color too.
Von Dyke Brown! I would not have guessed this one, But it looks really good on a 50 Ford,Jolene. A light brown glove leather interior would look so classy with this color.
On the latest Vice Grip Garage they demonstrate a neat trick for spill-proof paint pouring. Just add two pieces of tape in a “V” shape on the top of the can and the paint is directed out through it in a neat pour.
IT'S COMING ALONG CHAD AND IT IS LOOKING AWESOME AND JOLENE NICE CALL ON THAT COLOR IT LOOKS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOW A WHITE OR CREAM-COLORED INTERIOR!!!!

Excellent choice Jolene. It was definitely worth the wait. I love it. It will look spectacular when the car is done. Maybe you could drive it over to the guy who you bought it from and show him what you did. I guess however that he is probably following your progress. Don't forget when it is all done, you have to show some before and after comparisons. You have such an awesome team. Together you all create masterpieces. Keep up the great work. Yes Chad, you could put the '50 Ford up against any other car. You, Doug and Nate make an incredible team, and Jolene of course also. Without Jolene, we would not get to see the progress. Congrats on a great job!!!
Love the color, and the bodywork is outstanding! I was hoping the Pinocchio headlights would grow on me, but they still feel awkward and disproportionate to me. But hey...not my car. 😂 Great job team!
I like the colour. In all my guessing I never considered chocolate brown. I'm a 'red' guy and all its glorious shades and effects, I guess that's a hangover from my volunteer firefighter days (25 years!!) Looking forward to seeing the car assembled, and now curious about the interior colour, maybe a lighter brown or cream?
That paint should look good in the sunlight.... bold choice by Jolene to go that route But I like that he gave her control of the paint hope she gets more involved in designs and planning.
Looking good so far. One thing , it would be a really good idea to have baseboard trim on the walls of that room , that are caulked on both sides. It has helped me in the past.
