    Oh my goodness, Leia, superb and magnificent. Your heart-stopping cadenza! Those fearless intervals! Bell-like double trills! Moving, endearing slow sections! Your stage presence! Upbow staccato! Vibrato better than a human voice! Everything!!
    Thank you for sharing this video. Most violinists many times your age wish they could play Paganini as well as you do.

    I am always amazed that any 10-year-old child can play to this standard. It was obvious then that Leia was going places. Subsequent years have proved that without a doubt.

    Amazing performance for such a young girl, especially as explained below that Leia was getting over a hand injury at the time this video was made ! Master class, so a learning process. Leia Zhu reminds me of the young Sarah Chang, cannot give her enough praise !! Bravo Leia Zhu !!

      I agree wholeheartedly. Leia has in the last two or three years won several competitions, in at least three of which she was the youngest contestant, and the only one from Great Britain. Leia plays with unbelievable skill and passion for one so young.

    • @cherrytime22
      @cherrytime22 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Music competitions tend to be a complete lottery, especially the Tchaikovsky prize adult competitions where the judges tend to favour Russian or near Eastern European contestants. So even if Leia was far better than everyone else, no guarantee of winning or getting to the final line ups.

      Johnny Josè Isturiz Correa Así es, aunque le falta más sentimiento. Escucha la presentación de Akiko Suwanai en la Tchaikovsky Competition de 1991. Me agrada más.

    • @TOGOFF-2025
      @TOGOFF-2025 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yo soy violinista y flautista, académico y ciertamente es difícil encontrar un músico que al mismo tiempo sea virtuoso y artistas; es decir trasmita lo que interpreta, es verdad la interpretación de Akiko Suwanai esta mas llena de sentimiento; pero esta doble cualidad se puede cultivar con el tiempo, primero se adquiere la virtuosidad y posterior a ello la interpretación artística, aunque hay personas que nacen con una u otra cualidad, saludos

    • @bjoartec
      @bjoartec 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes Akiko's playing is incredible, but how dare you compare a 10 year old with a 18 y/o Akiko Suwanai ?...besides if you look at Leia's face, eyes, head's move, how can you not see no feelings in her playing ?.... Akiko Suwanai was born February 7 1972 in Tokyo therefore she was then 19 in 1991!...

      Look ignorant, what do you think? Do you think I do not know what I'm saying? I recommend you study a little, a little study will work well; The comparisons are not good, if you are going to make value judgments, I have not made any comparisons like you say ignorant do not think if you do not know the subject

    great for the girl, but shame for the teachers making her perform this piece. Too hard for her, lots of mistakes, wrong pitch, and lots of problems. She is obviously not ready yet for such a virtuoso piece, has tremendous potential but needs more time to mature and get to this

    • @LeiaZhu
      @LeiaZhu  7 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Thank you for your comment, it was a masterclass and she was there to learn! What nobody knew is that she had 3 weeks absence from violin due to her hand injury sustained from a school dance play, her first day back on violin she recorded her vlog about this piece and this is just 5 days later. This is her TH-cam channel that documents her musical journey, not a portal to showcase of her best performances.

    • @LeiaZhu
      @LeiaZhu  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can find the master class video in her channel to see how she learned/responded to the instructions. The performance of the complete concerto with orchestra was two month later in St Petersburg if you carry on watching her videos. Once again, thanks for your comments and keep watching her.

    • @ianchetwynd1642
      @ianchetwynd1642 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Nestor M l would suggest that you should view a performance she did in her summer visit to Israel. Find and go to the, Chaim Taub Masterclass, minute 36, watch, listen and then perhaps reassess your views and comments. Leia gives such a fine performance that Chaim Taub appeared astounded. Also a comment he made to her teacher, who was in the audience, struck me. Taub said her teacher had a "great responsibility" in teaching Leia; said in a way that made me think that he thought she could be very special indeed.

    • @LeiaZhu
      @LeiaZhu  2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Food for thought
      It is interesting to observe that when people make negative comments about Asian robots, they are often people who are not nearly as good as the musicians they are complaining about.
      I believe there is a jealous element to this- if these individuals cannot achieve the level of talent and skill, they focus on spreading hate messages instead of working on improving themselves.
      It would be wiser to focus on bettering oneself. We all have different strengths and weaknesses, and it is only through hard work and dedication that we can hope to improve in our chosen field.
      Put your energy into making your own dreams a reality.

    • @liamnevilleviolist1809
      @liamnevilleviolist1809 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@LeiaZhu What's not impressive is John Strozzi's behaviour.
      Firstly, there's never any need for racism.
      Secondly... there's actually a hidden compliment from him in there (without him realising), which is that many people called the great Heifetz a robot!
      It seems that if someone's skill is near perfect then they're labelled a robot!
