Aryans came from Central Asia to Iran and India. The Aryans, who conquered the Dravidian culture of Dravidic in India, not only engaged in a process of cultural exchange and influence on the Dravidian language, but also mingled genetically with the indigenous population. The so-called Old Indian phase began with the immigration of the Aryans from the Iranian plateau to India in the 2nd millennium, which today are called Indo-Aryans. This probably took place in several waves over a longer period. Gradually, the Aryans spread in northern India and displaced there the languages of the indigenous people, but not without being influenced by their substrate effect. There is much to suggest that the Dravidian and Munda languages were once spoken in a much wider area before being driven back to southern India by the Aryan expansion, or to the rough mountainous and forested areas of central India. The self-named Âryâ [آریا] is occupied only from Iran, in the sacred Zoroastrian writings of Awesta, the inscription of King Darius I [داریوش], in the 5th century BC Naqsh-i Rostam [Naqše Rostam]. In the 11th century poetic epic poem of Shahnameh by Ferdowsi and in India, in the scriptures of Indian Sanskrit (Rigveda). The Indians are today mixtures of Arians immigrated there, which mingled with the primal-Indian dark-skinned indigenous people.

punit p Dude did I ever say Arya was a racial term? The people that used the term Arya were a people with a common history, culture and origin. Thus it is not wrong to talk about Aryans as a people. At least that is what we do in Iran. Iranians translated into English would be literary "Aryans". If you Northern Indians stopped using the term Aryavarta as your country name and people name - than that is your problem. We still call ourselves in daily speech ARYANS. Because it is our Aryan culture which makes us Aryans. You should really read Iranian history. Iran means "Realm of the Aryans" and its people are Aryans.

    • @ashwaryp
      @ashwaryp 7 ปีที่แล้ว +11

Artabanos well i agree with u in most points but, its not like we had same history all along, Iranians & Indians are definitely cousins in the contemporary world (especially Northern India, and somewhat to South India too but to a lesser degree) . We probably would have been from the same tribe for a long time which later parted ways, as 'Avestan' and 'Sanskrit' texts do have a lot of commonalities. But as situation of India became different in the sense of geo-politics and culture, Greeks referred to us as "Inde" which Portuguese corrupted as "India", just as "Iran" was referred to as "Persia" but later on the Shah of Iran/Persia decided to rename or I should say that your govt. started appealing people to refer 'Persia' as 'Iran' but here when the colonialism ended the government retained the name 'India'.
The main reason for that was, as we all know Britishers followed divisive policy thus they created divisions in India to consolidate their power. They divided and made the people fight each other for a long time, in the name of language, religion, caste, race etc. And naming the country as 'Arya Varta' after the independence would have been somewhat disastrous for the govt., cause people from different parts of India would have started questioning the rationale and intention behind this, as u know India got Independent in 1947 just after the WW2 ended in 1945, and it had a huge impact on academics due to policy of Nazi's, so naming 'India' as 'Arya Varta' would have provoked negative sentiments referring to the govt. of supremacist attitude, which wants the domination of North Indian's over Southern and other parts of India, cause Britishers propounded the theory of Aryans and Dravidian, referring North Indian as Aryans as they generally have a bit light complexion and they spoke languages from Indo-Iranian family. Similar to the hijacking of 'Aryan' concept by Nazis, Britishers did the same in India with some modifications.
They changed something related to language in the contemporary world with that of the race. It might have been a different race in the ancient era 1750 BCE-1500 BCE, but later interbreeding happened, the degree of interbreeding was different in different parts of India. But later even if some Aryan (in the terms of ancient race) interbred or not, but lived in South India would be referred to as Dravidian cause she spoke Dravidian language, so the Britishers very cunningly brought this race concept on language which became a contentious bone. There are some other reasons too such as, the name had not been in use for a long time but the former reason was the most important that we didn't name 'India' as 'Arya Varta'.

    • @rationalroundhead6739
      @rationalroundhead6739 7 ปีที่แล้ว +65

Well, technically they did beleive it was related to judaism, they just wanted to take the Jewish parts out.
It's been a while since I studied this, but if i remember correctly, the nazis beleived that the new testament had absorbed cultural beleifs and practises from the old pagan religions of europe (like, for instance, the beleif that Jesus was god's literal son) and that the bible had been written to include contemporary Roman/Hellenic values.
And to be fair, they weren't wrong.
That's the reason there's four gospels, actually- Matthew satisfied Jewish prohecies and beleifs, Mark Spoke to the imperial side of the romans by emphasising Jesus as a leader, Luke reinterpreted Jesus through the lens of Hellenic philosophy, and John tried to pull all those strands together with a large heaping of Platonism to appeal to the scientifically minded.
So basically, the nazis beleived that "Jewish elements" of christianity weren't necessary parts of the religion, so they wanted to take out the book of Matthew and centre the bible around the book of Mark instead, while playing up the pagan traditions christianty inherited to make a more "culturally pure" path to salvation.
...Which was a terrible idea, which is why it never caught on outside of the nazi party elite (hence why they're accused of weird pagan/occult practises a lot).

This is really nothing new. One of the first great heretics of 2nd Century Christianity, Marcion, believed that Jesus came from the One True God, who was not the God of the Jews. This was less about antisemitism at the time than it was an attempt to deal with how cruel and vindictive the God presented in Jewish scripture could be, and how Marcion felt that conflicted with Christian ideas about God as presented in the writings of Paul. He believed that Yahweh was real, and was the creator of the world, and giver of the law. He just thought the gospel of Jesus came from a merciful God who stood above Yahweh.

Infact so was the case with all other slavic and germanic and even celtic cultures(Irish for example). Russian has more similarity with Vedic sanskrit then classical sanskrit. Most of Europe has that false criterium too. It's weird that the nazis were defeated, but that the continent decided to carry on with their propaganda like it's nothing.
Aaaaah, and now that are close to Xmas, read ahead if you want to learn something interesting:
Most historians agree that Jesus was born during Spring time, and not the 25th of Dec. The current Xmas date celebration is actually a roman copy of an Iranian celebration called Night of Yalda. Which commemorates the shortest day of the year and has a family gathering to it. The romans were getting into Mithraism just before Christianity came, and they that from there. The actual shortest day of the year falls on the 23th of Dec., the roman copy ending up on the 25th is from a mistake in their calculations about the position of the earth. It should be on the 23th.

Arya is a Sanskrit word which they took and called themselves but in actual they were not ready to accept the Indian oldest culture and the people who lived in India were the biggest civilization in the world. They then didn’t stopped there they changed our scriptures like manusmriti where they introduced caste system which divided India. Then they said India is very bad they have caste system even now the education system is such that they teach how great the Europeans were but How great the Sanatan dharm is nobody is taught even Indians are following the west but in real its the west who take it from our scriptures and show how great they are.

@@greaterbharat4175 In 2005, K. Thangaraj and his colleagues at CCMB published their findings about the origin of Andaman islanders in the journal Science. The Onge turned out to have surprisingly unmixed origins. They had likely lived isolated in the islands since the arrival here of the first group of humans out of Africa. There were mutations in their mtDNA that were found nowhere else in the world. These mutations must have originated here and not spread. The Onge were an untouched link to the earliest humans who settled the planet.
Almost all Indian groups had inherited varying portions of their ancestry from a population related to western Eurasians. Most Indians alive today are descended from a mixture of two very different populations, Reich and colleagues reported in Nature in 2009 based on a study of 25 ethnic groups. These two populations-the red and green of the earlier analogy-were given the names Ancestral North Indians (ANI) and Ancestral South Indians (ASI). The ASI, likely aboriginal inhabitants of India since no trace of them is found outside the subcontinent, were a sister population of the Onge. The two must have diverged after being separated, one on the mainland, one on the islands. The ANI showed genetic similarities with Europeans, Middle Easterners, and Central Asians. Some ANI ancestry was present in almost all Indian groups, but the percentage was found to be greater in the north of India and lesser in the south-for example, Kashmiri Pandits could trace about 70 per cent of their ancestry to the ANI people, and the Mala, a Dalit community from Andhra Pradesh, around 40 per cent. Broadly, groups that spoke IndoEuropean languages and were traditionally considered upper-caste had a larger ANI component. No groups in mainland India were seen with only ASI ancestry. The Onge were the only group studied that showed absolutely no trace of ANI ancestry. At some time in the past, these two very different populations had inter-bred, and at some later point the castes, clans, communities and tribes we see now had formed as endogamous groups that only married within themselves.

People used to look up to India in the ancient times. Foreigners used to study in Nalanda university. I remember ancient Chinese called India “civilized” and “center of knowledge”. Scientists and mathematicians of the islamic golden age admired our work. Greeks and Romans also used to look up to us. Good old times. Anglo-Saxons and other Westerners are the reason that South Asians face discrimination worldwide. They ruined our image by portraying us as animal f*ckers, street sh*tters, unhygienic (India needs to work on hygiene, I admit, but man often it is over exaggerated), savages, r*pists, etc. West butchered our reputation. We think South Asians face discrimination because of skin color, but that is not the case. When you are brown, people think you are from South Asia, and South Asia has a bad image. Also, read this to know about our past and achievements. It includes modern India as well.
      Ancient India's Achievments:
      1. Ancient universities such as nalanda, takshashila, vikramshila, and much more over thousands of years ago.
2.Indians had concepts of calculus before west like infinite series for pi, power series for sine and cosine, inverse tangent series, and much more.
      3. Aryabhatta invented sine function.
      4. Bhaskara II gave modern definitions of sine and cosine.
      5. Sushruta was one of the pioneers in surgery over 2000 years ago.
      6. Maharishi Kanad, a philosopher, proposed the idea of atoms in 600 BCE.
      7. Brahmagupta invented the formula to determine the area of cyclic quadrilaterals.
      8. Decimal System.
      9. Binary number system by pingala.
      10. Ayurveda.
      11. Bhaskara I stated that at the highest point, the rate of change is zero.
      12. Varahamihira predicted water on Mars thousands of years ago.
      13. Sridharacharya invented the modern-day quadratic formula.
      14. Solutions to quadratics.
      Modern India's Achievements:
      1. Har Gobind Khorana synthesized the first artificial gene and demonstrated the role of nucleotides in protein synthesis. He also played a massive role in cracking the genetic code.
      2. Artificial synthesis of coenzyme A by Har Gobind Khorana
      3. Chandryaan 3 landing on the south pole of moon.
      4. Mars Mission.
      5. Sun Mission (Aditya - L1).
      6. Fiber optics by Narinder Singh Kapany.
      7. Jagdish Chandra Bose was one of the pioneers in wireless communication before Marconi and transmitted signals before him.
      8. Discovery of millimeter waves by Jagdish Chandra Bose.
      9. Discovery of cholera toxin by Dr. Sambhu Nath De.
      10. USB by Ajay Bhatt.
      11.Pentium Chips by Vinod Dham.
      12. S.N. Bose made contributions to quantum mechanics like Bose-Einstein condensate and laid the foundations for Higgs Boson.
13.Quantum Statistics by S.N. Bose. Also, Boson particles are named after him.
      14. Discovery of triple helical structure of collagen.
      15. Ramachandran plot, which is a tool used to visualize which angles can amino acids take in proteins.
      16. Venki Ramakrishnan discovered the high resolution atomic structure of ribosomes.
      17. First DNA based Covid Vaccine.
      18. Cervical Cerclage was first described by Sirodkhar.
      19. Crescograph.
      20. George Sudarshan was one of the pioneers in quantum optics. (Watch and learn more about him).
      21. Quantum Zeno effect
      22. Microwave Optics.
      23. Magnetic controlled shunt reactor
There are many more indian greats you should learn about. Examples: Srinivasa Ramanujan, Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar, C.V. Raman and Raj Reddy (one of the pioneers in AI along with McCarthy).

He made a lot of mistakes though and sadly even repeated a few common misconceptions. I'm a historian here in Austria and of course i don't expect people who didn't study history like me nor grew up with relatives of whom one played a key role in visiting, communicating and being friends with asian countries before WW2 as well as studying the indian aryans and swastika symbolism all around the world. Common misconceptions are ideas that the Axis nations, especially the germanic ones somehow misappropiated and stole the word "aryan" and the "swastika" from asian countries. As much as i appreciate Xidnaf's videos, this is sadly just another one done via quick research and common misconceptions.
Since i work as a historian since 10+ years i could provide Xidnaf or you or anyone with documents, university studies during that time as well as before and afterwards that show this is wrong.
I only write this comment because i think that common misconceptions or myths about the 3rd Reich are dangerous as this gives the non-neutral sides ammunition, yes, over here you also have higly educated fascist historians and intellectuals, as well as higly educated communist historians and intellectuals. And they use such common misconceptions in a very smart way to claim "See, mainstream lies about history and the average people follow those lies." which is a propaganda win for them, whether they're fascists or communists.
That said, of course i don't put blame in +Xidnaf, i'd only do that if he like myself studied history as well as anthropology and symbolism and how symbolism is used in Propaganda.
F.e.: The time Hitler grew up as a kid archeologists and musems showed off new discoveries from the germanic forefathers and trives, in Germany as well as countries such as Denmark.
These finds created a sort of "Hype" among germanic countries, people got interested in 16th century gravestones again (which btw had swastikas and/or runes on them and those that still stand still have them and the german state protects such symbols if they were pre-3rd Reich. So these new finds in the late 1800s and early 1900s created a "trend" and people got excited about their ancient history and symbolism again. Many books were written, many paintings made and many women wore jewelry with runes or a swastika on them (rounded swastika as well as the ones the NSDAP would later use).
So Hitler grew up in a time when being interested in your roots, traditions and symbols were really popular and mainstream. If interested, i can show you many examples as well a studies and documents proving this point.
      So,
whenever pop-historian american TV f.e. claim "Hitler got his idea to use the swastika from Asia just like he stole the meaning for "aryan"!" - it's bad because as stated above, it gives todays fascists ammo to make them look smart.
Also: I believe the 3rd Reich is probably one of the top 5 topics where many misconceptions became standard "knowledge", especially in the USA.
Also before there are misunderstandings, for example: The Swastika is not some inheritely germanic symbol. But the swastika has been found all around the world and archeologists are still not entirely sure where it originated. There were swastikas found in the ancient middle east, ancient ethiopia, middle-american tribes, vikings, saxons, chatti tribe, thuringians, norwegians etc etc. And yes rounded, counter and clockwise and also not-rounded but square shape like Hitler used it later.

The swastika itself isn't an exclusively Indian symbol, but its association with "Aryans" does stem from its use in Hinduism. As Xidnaf explained in the video, the word "Aryan" was originally an endonym for Persians, which came to be used to refer to White Europeans due to the logical leaps of certain anthropologists.

The Rigveda composed in 1500BCE mentions of a battle of 10 kings. The clans are as follows:
Ikshvaku (Sun clan) from the Jaxartes (Yaksha Arta), yaksha means golden. Ikshvaku formed the Bharata confederacy led by Sudas.
    The other kings are
    1. Druhyu/Drusyu means the seers migrated to north probably became the Druids of Europe, known to have dyed red hair and beards.
    2. Paras, meaning men the lan divided after the war, one migrated into Iran forming Persia, the other became Puru, the clan that fought Alexander.
    3. Madhya, one settled in India forming the Matsya the other migrated in Iran forming Media.
    4. Alina, migrated into Kaushik or Caucasus became the Alans.
    5. Parni migrated into Khorasan region, became Parthians
    6. Dahae/Dasyu migrated in Transoxiana, fought as mercenaries of Alexander
    7. Bhrigu settled in India
    8. Anu settled in India
    9. Bhalanas, extinct loaned the name Bolan, a mountain pass in Pakistan
The oldest historical document of Persia is Behistun inscriptions, but Persis has been mentioned in Rigveda. The Bharata confederacy after victory against the 9 kings did begin to call themselves Aryans.

As a king, Vishwamitra would constantly sack and raid other kingdoms in India. He would renounced his kingdom when he encountered the Rishi Vashishta. Both Pundits were involved in the Battle of Ten Kings as advisors on opposite sides. In the end the Bharatas won and venerated both sages.

if you want to talk about pure Iranians than you would have to look at the scythians and Alans. these were tall, white and red/blond headed people that gave birth to all Iranic languages and cultures and eventually settled in Iran.
interesting enough, not many of them mixed with other populations as Iran was invaded by the semites (Arabs), Mongols and Turks. if you go to northern Iran, in some remote villages, you will still find white/ blond headed Iranians.
sadly, this trait died when the Muslims/Arabs along with the Mongols invaded Iran and killed most of the indigenous people

Because the Nazi's suggested it to them, during the 1930's the Persian Empire wanted to adopt a new name, the Nazi's suggested "Iran" because they love "the Persian master-race" and wanted all Aryans in the world to be proud of their heritage, this was also accepted by the Iranians as the term "Aryan" was seen as "anti-Semitic" thus anti-Arab (Semites) and would differentiate themselves from the Arabs with a more local identity. The Nazi's however loved all Muslims incl. Arabs.

They’re mentioned in the ancient Zoroastrian text Avesta, their ancient homeland is Aryanem Vaeja expanse of Aryas. Which is located in Central Asia today.
Tajikistan is believed to be birth place of Zoroaster the Aryan prophet of Zoroastrianism.
“Aryana” was also a geographical term used by Greeks and Romans for Central Asia (Tajikistan, Afghanistan, eastern Iran).

150 years ago, only a little over half of France's mainland population spoke French. Today, there are only a few million speakers of Occitan, Breton, Elsässisch, etc. left, primarily due to years of linguistic repression in French schools and government.
Occitans were the first victims of French colonialism via the Albigensian Crusades. Even today they hate northerners and pinpoint the influx of wealthy Parisiens buying up land in their regions as the cause of their economic woes. I've been to Occitània myself (Toulouse, Montpellier, Narbonne, Nîmes, Avignon) and heard people use the terms "nordiste" and "envahisseur" interchangeably. Also, if you look at a map of the first round of the last French elections you'll see the only departements which voted for Mélenchon outside of Paris were a few in the southwest.

Ok I am gonna say this ones and for all . the only countries today that have a right to use the word "Arya" or any other cognate of it are India and my IRAN. but Indians can only refer to it in a certain specific religious/linguistic context but Iran is called the land of Aryans for a reason. Whatever the Europeans may have said in their sick twisted attempts of colonization Aryans originally roamed the greater Iranian plateau to the Indian subcontinent for 10000 years and genetic studies prove that. these people called themselves Aryan. Now this is very important people so pay attention. The only kings who rightfully refer to themselves as Aryan/Iranian are Achaemenid Persian kings. Darius the great refers to his stock/background/country as ARYA in 518 BC in the Behistun inscription . then after the Achaemenids are overthrown and their legacy is forgotten the Parthians use the word "Aryankhkhsathrah" for their country and then again the Persian Sassanid Empire which takes back most of the Achaemenid territories vividly call their country ERANSHAHR which later becomes Iran Shahr and today is just Iran. So you Europeans and Americans should definitely stay away from the word Aryan. I hate how you manipulate everything for your own good .

We can tell this because paternally inherited traits among Western Hunter gatherers disappear from the earth within a few generations following the Yamnaya migration/invasions, while the blue eyes inherited from the mothers actually skyrocket among the entire regional population of Europe at the time, almost like the newly widowed captive women were now a genetic commodity. Those Yamnaya were on a mission of Lebensraum 6,000 years ago, and they succeeded.

Thanks a lot for this Educational video !!! As an Indian, I thought all hope was lost to explain the situation to some of the fellow foreigners who I have seen mis-use the word "Aryan" at every single given opportunity, It feels bad being an Indian that people misuse a word that we use in our daily lives. In Indian Language, Ancient India was always known as - "Aryan varta" or "Homeland of Aryans", Arya here meaning "Noble Men". It doesn't say "Only White people can be Noble men" anywhere as far as I know.
Aryans as a race never really existed, It's just a Geographical term given to people of Arya Varta (Which comprises of Modern day India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan). This is how far Ancient India extended out to with its many different and diverse Kingdoms.

What's funny is that Iranians have always been calling themselves some variant of "Iran" or "Land of Aryans" since the days of the Persian Empire. "Persia" is a word derived from Greek meaning "Imperial" and the West happened to be using it until the then-Shah of Iran (who happened to be enamored by Nazi Germany) asked them to stop.

    • @varana
      @varana 7 ปีที่แล้ว +26

"Persia" comes from the name of a certain people that eventually settled in the region of Persis (i.e. Fars in South-Central Iran). The earliest occurrences of the name come from Mesopotamian sources (Assyrian, iirc) but they probably called themselves some form of that. The name existed long before the Greeks cared about them.
In Iran, I was told the story that Shah Reza was pissed at the Nazis for appropriating the term Aryans and tried to make clear who the "real Aryans" were by insisting on calling his country Iran. Probably anecdotal, though.

Persia is not derived from Greek or any other words. Persia is derived from a small city or land where Darius I comes from Pars. Indians called it as Fars or Faras. And Greeks call it Pars-ia (ia is land, so land of Pars people. Which means the Zoroastrian followers)

Varna used for caste in the Vedic texts meaning color referred to the fair-skinned Aryans and the dark-skinned dasas. Caste was much emphasized as the distinction between the upper caste Aryans and the lower caste Dravidians.
Most Indians today are descendents of Dravidians.
Aryans were fair skinned. And we can see fair skinned Aryan/Iranic people today: Tajiks, Pamiris,Yaghnobis, Nuristani, Aimaq etc
Most of these ethncities are found in Tajikistan and Afghanistan.

Aryans were known to have settled in Europe after invading India and Persia long before the Nazis existed, and the term 'Aryan' was ubiquitous amongst intellectuals describing Europeans pre-WW2. Genetic data today shows Indians to be mostly Dravidian with varying fractions of Aryan ancestry. The caste system was created by the conquering Aryans as a means of preserving their genetics by skin colour as the overwhelming minority, but this failed as we can see today.

Indo-Europeans had R1b and R1a haplogroups. These are white haplogroups.
Jesus wasn't Jewish, he was Israelite. The Jews are descended from Edomites conquered by the Israelites. These Edomites were never slaves in Egypt and the Pharisees and King Herod were Jewish, descended from the Edomites.
Indo-Aryans were also white and some of them, who didn't mix with the natives as much, still are, to clarify. You can see clear "European" features in Vedic Indo-Aryans today, such as the Kalash. Many of them even have blue eyes and blonde hair and sometimes even as well as white skin.
The caste system was originally based on skin colour, especially in Indo-Aryan society at the Indus Valley. Lighter skin = higher caste.
It is true Indo-Europeans "only ever did anything good in history", literally ALL successful ancient civilisations which laid the ground for our modern civilisation and society were Indo-European, including Egypt, as ancient Egyptian is related to Akkadian, which is an Indo-European language. These civilisations include the Achaemenid Empire, the Babylonian or Assyrian empires, Egypt, the Romans, and of course many more, all of which were Indo-European.

Aryan or Arya (/ˈɛəriən/;[1] Indo-Iranian *arya) is a term originally used as an ethnocultural self-designation by Indo-Iranians in ancient times, in contrast to the nearby outsiders known as 'non-Aryan' (*an-arya).[2][3] In Ancient India, the term ā́rya was used by the Indo-Aryan speakers of the Vedic period as an endonym (self-designation) and in reference to a region known as Āryāvarta ('abode of the Aryas'), where the Indo-Aryan culture emerged.[4] In the Avesta scriptures, ancient Iranian peoples similarly used the term airya to designate themselves as an ethnic group, and in reference to their mythical homeland, Airyanǝm Vaēǰō ('expanse of the Aryas' or 'stretch of the Aryas').[5][6] The stem also forms the etymological source of place names such as Iran (*Aryānām) and Alania (*Aryāna-).[7]
