Could you do a video on the phaserunner specs, updates, and information you put in while tuning this bike up? Very curious about adding more power to my e bike, but would like to know a bit more of the technical side of things. Great video by the way the bike looks clean and fun to ride.

I totally agree, full suspension is a must on a 40mph bike. I have a Troxus Explorer which is a high quality bike with the exception of the suspension fork. It's sprung so stiffly that I'm not sure than it's better than a rigid fork. That's the next area that the Chinese should focus on, quality suspension at a reasonable price. American suspension components are obscenely priced.

you should replace that top battery pack with another 72 volt, with a load balancer. Could probably fit another 10AH up there nicely, increasing your max range quite a bit.

      @andrewstephens2687 ปีที่แล้ว

Great content! I'm looking to do a similar build using a folding frame (can fit inside a vehicle) that has a back rack for cargo (camping bike) or a passenger's seat (beach cruiser).
The Wallke H6 is the only frame I've found that fits the bill, but their stock batteries are severely underpowered and overpriced. The back battery (48V 21Ah) is nearly acceptable at the price point of $500, but not for the insane original price of $780. The internal front battery is absolute crazy-town nonsense at $620 for a 48V 14AH; could get a 72V 10.5AH for the same price. Guess it'll be at least a year from now before anything better comes along. If it were possible to buy just the bike frames- that'd be really cool, but these companies wouldn't be able to peddle overpriced garbage then.

    @-.O.- ปีที่แล้ว +2

Nice build, but I would've gotten the Ristretto 512 if I was going for a moped/motorcycle style e-bike. It costs the same and it's 52V mid-drive and can go up to about 43 mph stock without the 72V mod. It also looks cooler.😄You'll also probably lose acceleration and speed by installing the higher density scooter/motorcycle style tires like Shinko's since they're so heavy.

    • @lkjfjslkdj

You shouldn't wear sandals on bikes because, well, I did that. My rear axel just randomly broke when I only had one hand on my bars. My shoulder ended up going into a sharp curb (like, did they try to make this curb a perfect sharp edge??) and actually that hurt but nothing too bad. The worse problem was that my foot went in between my chain and front sprocket. I had not maintained it very well, so it cut into my foot and inserted a lot of black dirt+grease paste. After walking a mile to get home, I had to scrub it out with warm soapy water and luckily had a brand new brush from Ikea to use. THAT WAS NOT FUN.

The cycle analyst display and a grin controller whether baserunner or phaserunner will have ebrakes cut off. These are some of the most complex and customizable controllers on the market having features that 99% of other controllers don't have like field weakening, sensorless drive and proportional Regen. Don't even get me started on the features of the CA. (ITS A LOT) This is what makes them so versatile and able to run with any system or setup. Grin sells their own brakes you can use and they also have Higo to jst adapter. I have a 32mph aventon level with full grin hardware but still looks bone stock.🙂

You being a finance guy. I'm really surprised you're still into the ebike thing. Right there with everything, that's about 5 grand. For something no insurance company will insure, operates in a legal grey area (that's going to be a lot less grey by this time next year), with a range of about 50 miles and a recharge time of 4 hours if you drop another $380 for a cycle satiator. 5380 total, uninsurable investment with absolutely zero utility.
You can buy a Vespa 150 for $5299 listed price before negotiation from several dealers online. It has a top speed of about 60 mph, 200 miles of range per tank, great suspension, is insurable by everybody (and as cheap as I've been paying velosurance for the insurance on my Dad Power Bike that is now just sitting collecting dust in my office), can be refueled in under 3 minutes for another 200 miles of range for about 5 dollars, can carry 60.3 cubic inches of cargo under the seat, can carry 2 people, comes with turn signals, an LED headlight with high beam, has ABS brakes in the front on an anti dive front suspension, and can be resold for high resale since they are considered iconic collectors items. All with the same "twist and go" fun.
After putting 2000 miles on my ebike last year, I just find myself thinking that Ebikes at their best can only ever be, the worst scooter anyone could ever soak money into.

I see what u are saying but have u looked at the benefits of an ebike I wouldn’t want a Vespa 150 over an ebike… the pros of e-bikes are quiet low maintenance and can go most places heavier vehicles like the Vespa can’t… I mean u had an ebike for 2000 miles .. u should know the pros other than speed and distance …

    • @cerebrix

@@DriverJ-N When you consider the "can go most places heavier vehicles like the Vespa can’t" when talking about a 72v ebike. You're talking about "the places I can illegally ride something on the sidewalk or bike lane". A vespa can go in both of those places illegally too. It's exactly those arguments that currently caused a bill making its way through the legislature in California that bans kids under 12 from riding an ebike, requires an ebike license that will have a test under 16, then requires a drivers license to have on the road. Same for New Mexico which banned everything except class one from all multi use trails and the moped laws which require a mechanically (not software) limited top speed of 30mph that cannot be modified or removed by the rider in any way.
That is the legal grey area that wont be so grey everywhere else once that CA law ends up getting signed by Governor Newsom (the bill has his support so that's a done deal).

@@cerebrix u are in control of where u bring your ebike.. not everyone with a 72v + ebike are going to do illegal things with it... a vespa on a sidewalk will attract attention and cops will stop u .. ebikes? people will care less especially if u are going normal bicycle speeds.. i live in Texas so cops don't really care where I ride wether its the sidewalk, road, bike lane, on grass they don't care aslong as im not going 40 mph on the sidewalk.. now if i was on a vespa we both know that story would be different even if i was going 5mph lol ... and if i was in Cali i would obey the law even if my bike was a 72v ebike like this one

Cerebrix, of course you are correct but don't expect others to understand. For the type of riding NPL does, a motor scooter...Vespa, Honda Grom, Honda Trail would be MUCH better. This guy is always playing in traffic with an underpowered ebike when a 125cc motor would be much better. That said, there is a place for ebikes...in particular if fitness is the objective. I own two 2000w ebikes I built...but I use them for fitness riding and recreation. If you want a scooter whereby you don't pedal, gas is the way to go. 50-60 mph on secondary roads...can keep up with cars and 100mpg+ and fill up on any street corner...and more fun.

Could I keep the 52v stock controller and add a Grin Tech 750w motor to a 26x4in front wheel and blend a 48v 20 amp hr battery (Powered Lithium equal in size to stock battery) as well as ful twist throttle? Can you see problems with blending display, throttle and batteries? I'd ask Grin Tech to basically blue print a kit) I'd want to use 2 brackets on 4 screws just above crank for mounting brackets. Would I need to get a different display (controller) or would I be better off upgrading to 72v controller system? I'm wanting to keep stock display and 52v controller if possible? Thanks Tod
