    Some skateboarders came up with non Newtonian soles and insoles. Its basically cornstarch and water. When its resting its fluid but on impact it stiffens up. Put some of that in there and you will have the ultimate impact absorbing boot. You are so right about being on concrete and asphalt all day it really takes its toll on the back.

    As someone who has spent the majority of his working life on his feet I can totally understand why this works. A lot of people in the comments saying "Ever heard of insoles" , well given time on a hard surface insoles tend to loose their cushion effect. The true cushioning has to come from the midsole. The midsole is what responds to the surface with every step and absorbs the force.This is why sport companies invest more technology in the midsole e.g Adidas Boost/ Nike Air.

    • @sargent1250
      @sargent1250 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yup. There are boots with softer soles but they don’t last as long. It’s best to just spend money on inserts and never do this. It ruins the soles and can make the boots wear out faster. I wear a pair of them for work. A good pair of insoles will do the trick. If you want a really good one you would have to do some research on them.

    As someone who has spent nearly 25 years in the trades, you can live and die on your feet depending on how well you want to take care of your feet. That being said I am no stranger to spending +$250 on a good pair of boots. Composite cap, steel cap, metal shank, boots for welding, boots with extra ankle support. You name I've bought it, tried it, and probably over the years, I still have a boot for every occasion.
    With 2 exceptions:
    1 if the leather is cut over the toe insert, fix it with a tube of tuff toe and now you have a broken in well worn back up boot. Pony up. It's time for new boots
    So if you think drilling holes in your foot's investment seems smart, don't be the one in today's blue-collar workforce to get jammed up on a work comp injury claim because you didn't wear thicker socks or insoles. Don't put some stupid advice into some wet behind the ear kid, who hasn't time on the job to lean back on, when he uses your example of stupidity maybe only getting fired.....or worse hurt.
    So take the money that this idiot used to buy a nice quality cordless drill with the extra "voids manufacturer warranty setting while drilling work boot soles" and buy a good pair of boots that will save your feet. Also for about $80-90 you can get "Your" well broken boots resoled, and if you want to change the sole it's cheaper than buying and breaking in new boots.
    It's all in the name.
