Syngman Yi introduced Korean, all Korean men AND women voting rights, to people who were enslaved 500 years under joseon empire before they were sold like cattles to serve Japan for few decades (Japan treated Koreans way better than their own Joseon empire did so I ain't even mad about it) Idea of democratic was way beyond our head. You strangely failed to mention several very important facts: 1. After Japan's capitulation, both the US and the Soviet Union refused to recognized the Korean Provisional Government in exile headed by Kim Gu, and whose army had fought in China against the Japanese. Instead, they set up the Trustship after the 1945 Moscow Conference. The Trustship was supposed to make recommendations for celebrating elections for a United Korea. However, that never happened. 2. Instead, while Stalin set up a separate government in the north, Gen. MacArthur and the OSS used former Japanese collaborators in order to set up a separate government in the South. Those former collaborators then designated Syngman Rhee as President. 3. Syngman Rhee had his competitor for the 1948 Election for President, Kim Gu, killed in 1949. 4. Once Syngman Rhee assumed the Presidency in 1948, he became a dictator who had thousands of political dissidents killed. Several massacres are known like the Jeju Island Massacre and the Mungyeong Massacre. 5. The US returned Syngman Rhee to power in the South in 1951. Syngman Rhee stayed in power as a virtual dictator until he was overthown in 1960.
only to be replaced a few years later by yet another dictator who terrorize and slaughtered his own people. Thankfully he too was overthrown by being promptly shot in his head and chest.

What this story gravely fails to mention is the 30,000 Canadian Troops that fought with the South Koreans and the US in The Korean War! With Canada also suppling heavy military destroyers as well as negotiators for the eventual armistice. My Dad's Cousin fought in The Korean War and saw major action, but managed to survive and return to Canada. My Father said he suffered tremendous PTSD which wasn't really recognized as a prevalent issue for Veterans returning from active War Duty at that time. All he knew was he was a very changed Man and suffered greatly for the rest of his Life from the brutality of what he saw and did. But many Canadians fought and sacrificed their Lives to help liberate South Korean from brutal Communist Dictatorship and Rule. Therefore they should be recognized and their personal sacrifices respected and definitely noted in any Historical reference story like this one Please and Thank You! My grandfather served PLA during Korean war to fight UN troops. That was the first time Chinese army captured enemy capital(Seoul). This war was a by-product of Truman doctrine and McCarthyism.
During the Korean War, 16 countries participated in the U.N. and five other countries participated in medical aid. On top of that, 40 countries, including Japan, supplied supplies to Korea, while the Vatican and Western European countries supported Korea's postwar revival. The United States is the commander of the United Nations Command, and currently the commander of the ROK-U.S. Combined Forces Command and the commander of the United Nations Command. Since then, Korea has participated in all the wars that the U.S. started, and it is also the country that sent the largest number of troops during the Vietnam War.
As a brit I dont believe we should involve ourselves in other folks wars. That said, we did in Korea. All be it to support our american cousins. Once that war began we should of finished it. A united Korea, like a united Ireland, should be the goal.
Love moderate the input Wayne! I completely agree but want to point out that at some point, there is a grey area where “super powers” have to involve themselves or else we risk not learning from our mistakes of isolationism that hurt us both in WW1 and WW2 when it came to the Americans joining. The real debate and struggle comes to, when and how do we involve ourselves to make sure foreign wars don’t spread and we are protecting freedoms. It’s a tough line that I’m glad I don’t have to walk lol. Need more people like you though, with open and reasonable opinions!
The UN air force actually was not careful at Chinese border at all and they bombarded some villages and detected cities eg Shenyang, Fushun. Of course McArthur authorized that.

I'm from Brazil and I am personally offended when the narrator says that the Cold War was "Democracy against Communism" since my country and most of our neighbours have had US-backed coup d'états and anti-communist dictatorships. Specially Chile, where they had just democratically elected a socialist president. It's just mischievous to use this term. Why not just say 'Capitalism against Communism' or Capitalism against Socialism or even "USA and URSS dispute for clout" ? Is he trying to convince us that capitalism equals to democracy and that socialism equals to the lack of democracy? Using this shallow "Democracy vs Communism" simply underrates all the suffering, torture and death that ocurred in the anti-democratic capitalist dictatorships experienced in Latin America and elsewhere.

We Honor all our Canadian War Veterans and will not allow them to be Forgotten with the passage of time! ✌️💖🎖️
thats why its called the Forgotten War
@@Kylendros Very True Kyle! I have a South Korean Girl working for me who now lives in Canada and she had No Clue that Canadians fought in the Korean War to preserve their Lives and Freedom from Tyranny! It's very sad these things are not taught better in schools!

Sorry to hear about your dad... as a filipino i am also disappointed and a little bit angry that they did not mention the soldiers from Philippines that fought bravely in the war... i kinda feel bad for the other countries not mentioned in this video too...
@@angelopangilinan4622 I agree with you 100% This TH-cam Channel is clearly created by an American, because they make it sound like the US were the only "Saviors" in this War! Most of the Korea's I know, don't think very highly of the US, especially now with Trump and How he treats immigrants. People are much better off coming to Canada ❣️🇨🇦 We welcome Everyone from Every Country and that is what makes us so strong, diverse and proud to be Canadian!💖
This channel sadly doesn't habit itself on focusing on other countries then America when America is taking part in the conflict and so only uses only American flags advancing over Korea (for example) etc.
Stalin's face in this video cracks me up every time.
Turns out that the USA was helping the French during the French-Indochina War
Fact Filipinos were present in the korean war thats why the chinese retreated in one of the battles
PS. LOVE YOUR VIDS
Thaddeus Calañas Oh yeah the PEFTOK Battalions
The combat teams specifically especially in yultong
Um it was UN airpoered vehicle that crippled the chinese
The us 3rd infantry and 65th infantry were there thats why the filipinos went there to back up. It wasnt the filipinos who actually did most of the work. The un airfoghters were present in the us 3rd and 65th infantry.
But the Filipinos did not retreat when the Chinese attacked.

Why do the Northern soldiers have US Thompsons whilst the South have Russian Ppsh-1s?
i was wondering the same thing xD
FYI Chinese in N.Korea had MG42s.
can we have a hats off moment for all the brave soldiers that fought in WW2, Korea, and Vietnam?
During the Korean War, 16 countries participated in the U.N. and five other countries participated in medical aid. On top of that, 40 countries, including Japan, supplied supplies to Korea, while the Vatican and Western European countries supported Korea's postwar revival. The United States is the commander of the United Nations Command, and currently the commander of the ROK-U.S. Combined Forces Command and the commander of the United Nations Command. Since then, Korea has participated in all the wars that the U.S. started, and it is also the country that sent the largest number of troops during the Vietnam War.
Bro no one cares, you dont need to give more info cause it says it all there

Korea wouldn’t have been divided in the first place. If Korea haven’t been occupied by Japan in the first place.
