It's a pity you didn't have a wide angle gopro camera on the other side of the helmet which might have showed more of the view of the pass perhaps

Trust South Africa to turn a relatively mild mountain pass into an enduro event that scales right up there as a challenge. Perhaps we should stop tarring roads entirely since maintaining a tarred road is now well beyond our capability. The construction of the Oliviershoek pass has been completed and since then the road has deteriorated so badly that there is now talk about this pass simply being closed permanently due to the large volume of traffic choosing this as an alternative to the nearby Van Reenen toll road effectively destroying the road surface.
