Testing and reviewing Stiga Twinclip 950e V 48 volt “expert” battery lawnmower

  • My friend and colleague asked me to try his new lawnmower and to show what it can do. It seems like there are not many videos about the capacity of this lawnmower and that is a shame as it is really good.
Update! I was wrong about the collector being hard to put in place, I just didn’t do it the right way!

Good review and testing of this battery powered lawnmover.
And I think it did the work very well 🙂

Thanks for an interesting review. I have an older Stiga Combi 50 SAE that uses their previous 80V series batteries (still compatible with Greenworks 80V series). It's been a workhorse for me since 2018. It absolutely never fails to start in any weather.
The battery is the main weakness, as it doesn't seem to be able to deliver enough power, which is probably why they went away from it, as mentioned in another comment for this video. Perhaps they use a two-battery setup now to allow pulling more power from them.
A thing that I did not see you film in the review, is that when you mow through the high grass, the mower stops, but you did not film the indicator panel, while it was stopped. Mine is worse at stopping, because it is weaker, but it then demands a 10-30 second cool down period, while beeping loudly, which is *insanely annoying*.
If you do not let go of the handle bar and keep pushing it around, even without using the wheel drive, it simply lengthens the wait period until you stop pushing the mower. This is *insanely annoying squared*.
Did you experience a required cooling period with this mower?

Hi! It was a year ago that I tried this mower but id I remember correctly I could just restart directly. It makes a sound but not really annoying otherwise I’m sure I would have mentioned it.

Great video Nils been thinking about going electric cool shadow effect I think they are a little pricey maybe that will eventually change.

Thanks! Yes I think they will drop in price just as we see the electric cars doing.

Nice honest review! Looks a quality mover but the price is quite salty. You pinpointed some essential points about the cost/quality/function point of view and Stiga should really evaluate those... Steel chassis will be a pain point of that unit to gain proper life time for the unit. It should be 10 years in minimum with that price and without cleaning every time afterwards it will rust away like any other mowers there. Cutting power and quality of the cut seem to be there in nice package though... If it does area of one "tank of gas" the battery capacity is also there... I have had one Stiga for ten years with OHV engine and first ones to die away have been the wheel "bearings" in it (usual Stiga quality level with cheapest bearings on the market). Otherwise it has done a good job for customer grade of mower... I'm still guessing that your presented accumower will be recycled in 2032 and mine could still be used if I'm still alive and there is gas available ;)
Of course the future will be electric but future is still available only to guys driving BMWs & Teslas :D

Thanks! I actually found that I was wrong about one of the “bad” features today, the collector is supposed to be attached with one hand and not guided like I did…Guess I need to RTFM….Biggest complaint is as you say the steel cutting deck, it should be aluminum considering the price of the mower. Stiga used to be good at making aluminum cutting decks, I have had many of those. They even made one of stainless steel and a super special one of carbon fibre! Longevity of the batteries is still a unknown variable but at least they can be easily changes and perhaps new cheaper and better batteries will be available when these ones die? The future as it looks now is electric so just get a BMW already!

Yes a bit too expensive for my taste! Cost 4 times more than what I paid for the HQ rider. I will return it on Monday so the Rider can handle it.

A very comprehensive video ad thanks for your review. Can I check what are your views about EGO LM2135E-SP 52CM SELF-PROPELLED MOWER. These are two final choices I have zeroed down to and any guidance here will be appreciated.

Hi! Unfortunately I have not tried the EGO walk behind mower but I did try a riding lawnmower from that brand and it seemed like a good product. This might not mean that the walk behind is good but it is the only experience I have with EGO. Good luck and keep me updated on what you get!

Hey Nils, Battery powered tools r great and their the future. Welcome to NATO if you support it or not? Kind of a dick move by Turkey though, trying to weasel as much as they can out the situation. Anyway the sharpening the blade thing is odd?! As the blade wears away it will not wear evenly, it will always be somewhat unbalanced, if they void warranty because some imbalanced blade bs then i don't want to support that company. Btw a quick tip, keep videos unlisted until they finish the hd processing. Currently watched this video in 360P lol Thanks for posting, take care mate!

Hej! I like battery tools and cars ( I am a BMW high voltage expert) but prices are a bit high especially on things like this lawnmower where the cost of ownership is so low on a petrol one. On cars you can sometimes get a lower total cost even though the electric car is much more expensive due to service and fuel costs.
Nato, I think it is a good idea and have not understood the neutrality thing, it is a cowardly approach mainly implemented to keep the communists in the parlament happy. Erdogan…what a duche….Yes the don’t sharpen the blades are strange, well it actually says to leave the mower for service if sharpening is needed. The voided warranty thing was just a speculation from my side, it might not happen at all but it could happen as they instruct you to not sharpen the blade yourself. Good tip on the processing thing! Never thought about it but I have changed some things in my internet setup so it is very slow right now, might have been due to that. Thanks for watching and take care you too!

    • @NilsKall
      @NilsKall  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

It mowes a lot of air! On the other hand I think it is hard to get it to clog when using rear ejection even with a really overgrown lawn. I had cut my lawn one time before this. (But the horses did the job a few weeks)

@@NilsKall Hello Nilskali, Perhaps there were aftermarket batteries. Als i could let them repair by a shop who puts in new cells. But i do not like aftermarket stuff in lithium ion batteries. (catching fire when not properly charged). I have lots of makita 18volt stuff and only use the original stuff. By the way, makita still sells even the old type batteries. I am sure that my makita stuff will survive the batteries! But for now i bought petrol equipment for my garden. (and no stiga).

You can not buy the old type 48v batteries anymore. So throw your old stiga stuff in the bin. You are warned! Do not buy battery powered stuff from stiga! I had to throw away my lawnmower and leafblower. Because of the stiga sbt 5048 ae batteries are not available anymore. The newer ones do not fit! I am sure that the same happens with this stuff.
