as soon as she said 'dark side' i thought the same thing. loved that she reacted like that. jenny is the most awesome teacher there is. i just love watching her and she sews just like us ordinary people do. nothing fancy, just teaching. keep up the good work jenny and MQC thank you for giving us these tutorials.
I have seen others using a bigger cut 1 1/2 or almost in half...I like it so much better here where you are cutting at the 1 inch mark...thank you for sharing
I loved this tutorial! I'm rather new to quilting yet I wanted to make a quilt for my Granddaughter's first birthday. I watched this tutorial, bought a charm pack and got the guts to make this quilt. It turned out so cute and I was very proud of the result. Now I'm determined to make her a new quilt for each birthday. Thank you for your educational tutorials and your love of quilting which is contagious.
THANK YOU! I was given 2 bags of 4 charms to turn into disappearing 4 patch. I had no clue but I knew I could come to this website for help. Thank you!
Good morning, and thank you for sharing a fantastic idea! I had been wanting to do that for years and was not confident it would look nice until you demonstrated. Thank you so much for motivating me to not be afraid to just "Do It."
Hello Jenny!~ Love all your tutorials. You have taught me everything I know so far. I didn't read all the comments....but I am sure someone has already told you this...But as I was watching you, I noticed your mat is bent on one corner. That is perhaps the reason you were having some trouble turning it. I know..cuz I dropped my mat and bent it. Just have to straighten it back out. That's what hubby's are for..LOL! Bless you Jenny! You never fail to make me smile or laugh out loud!
Hello from Germany, inspired by your Video´s i´ve made my very first own little ,, Thing like a quilt,, I´ve made it as a cover for my sofapillow and i am very proud of it ;-) Without your Video´s and also the tip´s from your daughter i wouldt never have been so brave to try it. You ´ve made me very happy and tomorrow I will start my next project- with your help. Hugs & kisses !!!
Jenny I love your techniques. You take a difficult block and make it easy. Quilting with you is sew much fun. You're a great teacher - the one that all the kids at school love. Keep us with the good work.
As someone who has recently become interested in quilting, your videos are so helpful and so much fun to watch! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!
Love your instructional video for the disappearing 4 patch. You've taken a very easy quilt block pattern and ramped it up to look so much more impressive and difficult--but after watching your video, it really isn't difficult. Thank you! I've ordered and received my charm packs and looking forward to getting started. You are a natural, Jenny--you describe things so very clearly.
I fell in love with this block. I have tried to use it in any new quilt somewhere. It look so difficult but your video makes it so easy that I could tackle anything. Thanks so much for making quilting a whole new experience. Your video's are perfect for binge watching on a rainy day!
I shared this at a local quilt shop, one of the gals watch the video and shared with her quilt group and sister. Sister shared with her quilt group too! You're contagious Jenny!
Hi Jennie, Just wanted to tell how much I love watching your tutorials, I learn something new every time. Love the disappearing 4 patch, had to make one straight away. Thanks for the fun. Joy
Jenny you are so awesome! You still start from the beginning regardless of which quilt you are working on. Some will say "Just start with a 4 patch" HUH? Hello this could be my first video so what's wrong with explaining from the start. I tried this and love, love it. It is not as hard to make as it looks. Only made 5 squares so far, but still working on it along with others.
Thank you Jenny because of your videos I have picked up quilting again. I am making this one (5" squares) for my oldest gran-daughter is graduating from college this May, almost through with it. Fabric is retro flowers and off white. I am making me one with different shades of purple and snow white. It will be gorgeous. Making a 6 1/2 square and 1 1/2 " cut going to be beautiful
Hi Jenny. Firstly I want to to say how much you have inspired me towards quilting, you make it look so easy, I have already made one a baby quilt for my gran daughter and am so proud of myself ha ha, I'm still learning with the rotary cutter though drives me mad, anyway keep up the good work your amazing. Gaynor UK
Hi jenny, you are so talented! Ive always made patchwork quilts all stitched by hand, a slow job. You have taught me so much. Im going to start using my sewing machine and then when I give them as gifts, I can do more gifts in a quick time.Keep up the good ideas.
Thank you so much for your so "fun " tutorial............like all yours I don(t spend a week without watching at your tutorials...... I m French but evrything you do and say is vrey clear.I hope some day I'll comme to meet you in Missouri......
Thank you !!! Now I have another one to put on my list of projects. Just love your way of teaching us. If it wasn't for you I would not be learning how to quilt.
Another great tutorial from you Jenny. Fantastic. I always look forward to watching your videos. I can't wait to try this technique. I also agree with one of the other comments made earlier...That the wedding ring quilt in the background is beautiful and hope you might give a tutorial on that one day as well. Thanks Jenny for all your great videos. You and your videos are the reason I started quilting.
Thank you so much Jennie for all your videos. You are an excellent teacher, I learnt so much from your videos you explain and show us so well I am so grateful Thanks again I made a small quilt of the tubing hour glass you called it. I am proud of it now I will try one disappearing 4 patch. You are truly inspiring
I saw this quilt block at a show in Livermore California, at Alden Lane Nursery. I was thinking that it looked pretty easy, but there were so many small pieces. Then a light bulb went on in my head, "BING!!! That's a disappearing 4-patch!! I bet Jenny has a video on that!!!" So easy!
Another great tutorial that demystify the intricacies of quilting; your instructions are easy to follow; i look forward to new videos, as it helps me to be a more confortable with quilting, thanks
I loved this video. I went right to my scrap bin and pulled out fabric to cut 2 10" squares of each. I wanted to see how this would work using a layer cake. Again I loved the result. The only change I made for this was to make 2.5" cuts all around.
Hey Jenny! Very classy looking block in that choice of fabrics. As you were sewing I noticed the Double Wedding Band quilt on the wall to the right. It's my favorite pattern and I was wondering if you could do one of your magical tutorials to help us with it. If it wasn't for your tutorials, I wouldn't be able to do most of the more difficult blocks and quilts. Thanks so much and keep up the great work!!
making this for my toddler tonight with pinks yellows and greys. i cant wait :) i finished the 4 patches, now just need to cut it and re sew and of course everything else
Jenny, I love your tutorials. This one looks like fun. You have me hooked on precuts and I love being able to finish a top so quilckly. I wish I could come to your store and visit as I feel I know you. I also love the personal notes on my orders. Thanks to all at MSQC. Alice Wilson
I love these tutorials, they are so beginner friendly! We have some newbies in our group and they can easily follow them. Keep up the good work! And keep those new ideas flowing.
Hi Jenny, I wish I had seen this a year ago! Thanks for the great tutorial! The colors you used with Navy, White and Gray made it look so fresh and modern! I've seen so many of your tutorials and you never cease to amaze me at how fast you sew while keeping a perfect quarter inch seam. I know this is an older post, but I just saw your blog the other day and wanted to congratulate you on the new filming studio. I know those lights are a huge investment, not to mention the cameras! I'm still working on my valentine envelope patch quilt with a stack of white and red charm squares. I've only made one since February! Now I'm tempted to do this one instead, but then I'd have to sew more seams! But the block is just so irresistable. I don't know how you do it standing up, no eye glasses, no special machine lighting etc. How do you find the stamina to make all those quilts, build five stores, run a huge online business, quilt magazine........all those lovely blog posts, the wonderful daily deal stories! (I check every day!) Big hugs!!! and a big Thank You!!!
yes i love this block it is super easy. i know that you used a printed and a solid but i took 4 charms from the " make do and mend charm packs"the ones with the writing and the bottons and did this block and it looks great i love this thanks i would like to see this in one of your classes to see how it all comes together thanks bye
WOW!! Jenny you've done it again, amazing! Just love your tutorials, have been eagerly waiting for your latest, and wasn't disappointed. You made that look so easy, love it!
I could watch Jenny's video's all day. This is a great idea to add some pizazz to a simple 4-patch. Jenny, your rockin that french manicure, it looks very pretty. Please keep making these video's. Thank you :-)

For those who were requesting the size of this quilt, Jenny tells/ shows you with a printed diagram, very close to the beginning of this tutorial. It is 52" x 45". :) I love your tutorials, Jenny!
+ SEW IT SEAMS - Yes, it's at 0:29 - it also shows smaller size for a baby quilt (30 x 37) - but both are WITHOUT borders. If you want it larger, MSQC's pattern on their website for this charm pack quilt: Disappearing 4-patch Quilt Pattern by MSQC with yardage for borders, backing, and binding gives you a 59 x 67 quilt. www.missouriquiltco.com/shop/detail/43172/msqc/msqc/disappearing-4-patch-quilt-pattern-by-msqc?gclid=CL25yuT00dMCFRCdfgodJPYBmA
Just finished my first two blocks. Love the easy construction and the tutorial is fantastic! I did find that Moda and Robert Kaufman have different rulers. I am using Simplicity by Moda charm squares from my stash and I purchased Kona Solids by Robert Kaufman from Missouri Star. The Kona squares are about 1/4" larger than the Moda squares. The blocks are squaring up to 8" but until I trim them, mine don't look near as pretty as Jenny's!
you are right to always double check non-Moda pre-cuts because they can vary sizes and thus impact the blocks. This block can be "squared-up" thank goodness.
Love this tutorial! You have been a tremendous inspiration and source of knowledge for me. I doubt that I'd be quilting if it weren't for your great instructions and projects. Thanks also for showing the pressing; this is a great help and constant reminder that pressing is important. Do you still use the pressing spray (like sizing)?.
OH MY!!!! This will have to be my next quilt. Love the new tutorials with diagrams included. It gives me a better idea of what it will look like larger. What was the size of the inner and outer border? Would you show the finished quilt and back at the end? Thanks much Angela
Jenny, I was not able to locate the measurements for the entire quilt hanging in the back. What are your border measurements and the fabric needed for the backing? I am just so amazed with your videos and learning new ideas. Thank you for being so fun to watch and learn.

Mil gracias por este valioso video. Usted siempre nos sorprende con ideas fantásticas para elaborar bloques que parecen complicados, pero usted los hace bien fáciles. Felicitaciones
Love the quilt!!! 1. made my 4 patch 2. cut apart 3. shift pieces 4. sew back together Wait, they seem in the wrong order. Take apart and try again. OH MY I think this is a little challenging for this newbee I'll keep trying. Thanks for your ideas. Angela

Mil gracias por este valioso video. Usted siempre nos sorprende con ideas fantásticas para elaborar bloques que parecen complicados, pero usted los hace bien fáciles.
