    If you're not watching the Kruger Brothers live stream Wednesday evenings at 7pm Eastern, you should! It's on their TH-cam channel and it's a real gift to anyone who loves good music & excellent musicianship!

    The Bass player has an afflection called Dystonia, a nerve dysfunction of the neck muscles. I have the same problem. The Banjo Player is the Swiss version of Bela Fleck. Great group.

    I know this is an old post, but I have to say I love these guys. I was a hard core bluegrass traditionalist/neo-traditionalist until I saw The Kruger Brothers perform at Silver Dollar City near Branson. I was very reluctant to go as I wasn't into "that style" of music or anything resembling "progressive" bluegrass music.....I thought. By the end of that concert I was a hard core Kruger Brothers fan. I bought every one of their CDs at the table afterwards. Uwe had just purchased a Prewar Guitar Company D1 guitar and it sounded simply sublime. I had one a month later which has been my go to guitar ever since. I'm not a big fan of pickups or on board mics on acoustic guitars and Uwe's tone on this TH-cam recording is the main reason why. IMHO, it sounds like a#*. It has that standard electric/acoustic thin, reedy, buzzy, tone. Horrible to my ears. But his tone at the concert I attended was superb. It's only my guess that he was playing at The NAMM Show with some sort of NAMM sponsored attached PU and sound system. His tone suffered terribly. But his playing? Guitar tone aside...Oh my!!!! What a musician?!! And what a band?!!!! Incredible group with incredible chops. Did I say I love these guys? And, yes, VERY nice people. I love these guys, LOL!!

    Edit
    I've seen them 3 times since.
    Each time they played so beautifully I was in tears most of the set.

      His tone is truly other-wordly. So bell-like and silvery. And he appears to be able to coax it out of almost any banjo.

      DJ Buell Yep I've got that and his other dvd also. The first dvd he put out is better than the second. I wish he would put out an in depth book explaining his method of writing tunes, with lots of theory, and of course lots of tabs plus standard notation. If you're gonna wish wish big. :)

    I have nothing but profound respect and admiration for these boys and their incomprehensible talent. I'm proud that they chose to live in my treasured home state. With that said, I doubt that the music on this clip would have brought the Opry to a standstill the way Monroe's band always did in 1946. This observation is not a criticism. I am merely pointing out that this music is much closer to classical chamber music than it is to Bluegrass. Viva la differance!" If that's what you like....

    • @kurtdejgaard
      @kurtdejgaard 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yup. I think there's something to be said for being original. They're just being the best Kruger Brothers they can be, rather than the next copy of what has already been done. And who needs the Opry as a reference point for that? ;)

    These guys are incredible musicians, there is no doubt. The only quirk I have is the sound of the strings. To me, they sound plastic. Other than that incredible!

      I think the sound was recorded straight out of the mixing board, which is a much different sound.
