- Truly amazing may be the only way to describe The Kruger Brothers as musicians. Their performance at the Doc Watson Music Fest in Sugar Grove, NC in 2001 included several great pieces of music.
Their rendition of the classic "Dueling Banjos" typified their imagination, skill and showmanship as musicians. Regretfully, a heartfelt tribute to Doc Watson had to be edited out to conform to the 10 minute clip requirement.
The Kruger Brothers:
Jens Kruger - banjo
Uwe Kruger - guitar
Joel Landsberg - resophonic bass

As a guitar and banjo and bass player, these guys are unmatched in ability as to how good they really are. Awesome pickers. I like that resonator acoustic bass guitar.
This is pretty awesome
As a classical and Irish fiddle player...my heart is full and happy to hear such amazing musicality, technique and well... all of it. I tip my bow to you fellas!
This is such a joy to watch and listen too...what brilliant skilled musicians they all are, They appear to be just fooling about and having fun together - but fun like this takes such real talent. Absolutely brilliant and most enjoyable indeed. Thanks so much for sharing this incredible moment. I have watched it many times now and thoroughly enjoy it every time. What a unique band they are in many ways. Oh for just a grain of their skill. Thank u again from a UK lover of folk music.
Holy cow! Just discovered these guys. Blown away.
Holy crap!!! This is just crazy!! What great musicianship!! :) That was incredible!
These guys are truly phenomenal. A real joy to listen to. How the bass player keeps up with all that is unbelievable.
Irvin? The slender bald headed guy is playing a DOBRO guitar.
@@jtc1947 Wrong, it is a resonator bass.
Incredibly entertaining.
My favorite quote "Where we come from they're all foreign movies"
Great Job!!
Let me put it this way! during the arpeggios and pauses, I waited in anticipation and then was delighted. Fantastic playing and showmanship.
There are just no words. Tears streaming down my cheeks. Never heard a banjo like this in this lifetime. Just outrageous!!!!

Saw this in Sugar Grove in 2001. First time I'd had heard them. Such magnificent skill and musicianship. Hope to see them again soon.
I've been watching these guys all week live at the pawn shop in North Wilkseboro on the Caldwell County Channel and they didn't rock out like this. This is awesome!

What a wonderfully pleasant medley of tunes. :)
The sounds he manage to get out of that 5-string. Unbelievable. I really want to experience them live one sweet day..
Saw them yesterday live in Cumming, Ga for a benefit concert. They are amazing.
I get to work for these guys today. this is going to be awesome.
Wow how good can you get 😮
Further poof that these guys have been good forever, and always will be. Yes there are some corny moments but they have earned every right to it. I don't think any other performer in this category has nailed like they have. Great video!
Actually saw those boys live in N. Wilkesboro, NC ... sooooo goood!

Amazing how many people are here saying “play it straight” as if we haven’t heard a billion covers already
amazing music, thanks.
"Were we come from, they're all Foreign Movies" :-)
I love the resonator bass!
I just stumbled across these guys. Amazing! Those cords on Wonderful World 7:15 blew me away.

Never gets old
this is great
9:53 of pure astonishment. WOW !!!
What's amazing is that buried in Jens's version is every single note that Weissberg played for the recording released as a single.
I was told by a friend that Jens plays 14 hours a day, every day of his life.
Hi everybody... has someone a vidéo of their song "when will we meet again" or something like that... normally their last song of a set...
Just love it ! Enjoy
@forf01 thx !! goddamned howcome I didn't find that!! I've been going trough the sound of music & bedknobs & broomsticks but somehow forgot about Mary ! thx a million !!
Die besten so super

Pretty awesome
Impossibly fast banjo and unbelievably clean banjo.
Love this song
FANTASTICI...!
I live in Wilkesboro NC and my first cousin first invited them to the US when he spent a vacation in Switzerland and heard them. They lived with him for several months until they got established. I've heard them many times in informal settings. They claim themselves to be NC hillbillies. Great is the word for them.
I first saw and heard of them while in Wilksboro at Merlfest many years ago now. So good to see live. A true force and fenom to be reckoned with.
I first saw them at the Cook Shack Union Grove, NC
Dueling Follies...Ciao dal Sud Italy
great strings
WOW! That is all
yeah, i knew the song i just didn't recognize the riff. thanks!
And this was written by the great Arthur Smith who left us earlier this year in 2014.
"Maybe not. This probably isn't the most viewed video." -Dreg
Why isn't this the most viewed video?
They are Gods!
@peaceboy100000000000 ...its 'If I were a rich man' from Zorbal the Greek.
this is the best dueling banjos ive ever seen.
whats that russian sounding song they play that speeds up really quick and they go YO??
Köstlich,aus welchem film?
7.23 The smug smile on his face lol
At 7:30, they're playing "What a Wonderful World," probably best known by Louis Armstrong.
You posted this only 17 days ago (1.5.09)..., but, it's at least a few years old, right? I think Joel no longer plays that bass guitar.., and the Doc Watson Music Festival has changed its name. Doesn't matter much, really. :) - these guys are more than just awesome; they are phenomenally, incredibly, amazingly awesome; they are the inimitable KRUGER BROTHERS.
- from an unabashed Krugerholic
Man, würde ich euch gerne sehen!!!
What is 4:30 from it sounds hecka familiar
What’s the song at 5:44 I cannot remember for the life of me.
around 4.35, is that from Mary Poppins?
Yes, Chim-Cimeny!
O M Goosh!
What's the gypsy sounding song played 2:00.
The bloke in the middle looks like Groucho marks.🪕
chöne der das vom film?
Olimpic Goldmedaile
please someone help me the song they start around 4:29 after the yiddish song; I think its something from a musical, sound of music or something ?? please help its driving me mental !!
Lisbon By Night
and whos the tough guy who can name all the songs on there??
who can name all the covers?!
The only single hit ever done on the zither!
Could you post the tribute to Doc separately somewhere?
anyone know that little riff at 7:30?
what a wonderfull world ...or do you need notes?
What make of bass is that? Looks like a dobro...
Dobro bass. I played one in a store once, Unamplified it sounds tinny but through an amp it sounds the same as an acoustic bass guitar. It's fun to play something different for a change. Then you go back to the upright.
What's with the guy with the DOBRO? I've always seen them laid FLAT???
It's some sort of resonator bass.
@@docbanjo6544 Sorry! MY BAD! Just looked like a "DOBRO" to me/
"Yo" This is simultaneously the reason I want to learn to play my banjo, and the reason I know it will likely NEVER really happen, not like Jens anyway.
4:16 Yo!
Actually Switzerland.
