I have exactily this combo (Z5 with the 20 mm) and it serves me well. When I bought it, I was mesmerised by the quality, so I would recommend it to anyone who thinkin about to get one. It was a great investment in the long run too. The only con is really the size of this thing, but it don't bother me.
Great lens! 2nd time around for me. Had the f mount and upgraded to the Z mount then sold it after I got a fantastic deal on the 14-30. After a year of using the 14-30 I just sold that off to get the 20mm z back in my bag. It’s a keeper.
Thanks my dude! Yea for the most part 20 is kinda wide for a scenic portrait like I use it for, so one can’t expect it to super fast. Thanks for watching my content my friend!
Looking for my next lens and this might be it. I need something fast and wide for indoor Rock and Roll photo's. Or, for indoor shots, would the 50mm 1.2 be that much better? 20mm might be the secret sauce? I have the 14-24 F2.8, but every stop counts when in low light.
I seriously have a direct comparison lined up between 14-24 2.8 and 20 1.8. It’s not supposed to release until this Sunday. The week after that, a comparison with the 24-70 vs 50 1.2. How soon are you wanting to buy?
You sold me on the lens to get next for the Z5 I've ordered with the 50mm 1.8. Was considering the 14-30 f4 but the 20mm really is impressive even wide open and I'd like to do some astro with it too and the bokeh looks nice and would make the lens superior to the 14-30 in non landscape shots where you might want subject separation.
Sounds like a great lens. I hesitate, though. I mainly shoot landscapes and seascapes with a z5 and a 24-70 f4. Should I buy the 20 mm z 1.8 or the 14-30 z f4?
I'd be interested, if it has any Coma. This is kinda visible with the F-Mount variant wide open when I do night sky photography. It is not bad, but I prefer to stop it down to f2.2. Thanks for the test!
What's up with Adorama lately. They shipped an empty box to me after I ordered a softbox. lol, congrats on the 20mm Z. I was looking at this lens for a while but never pulled the trigger.
What you looking to use your 20 1.8 on? I never really use the wider end of lenses. I need to break out of my 24-70 prison 😅 i did get the 105 macro when it first came out and that lense has pop to it that i notice every single time i use it. I would ultimately like a 85 1.2 as i feel 105 is too flattening for my personal taste.
@@ZWadePhoto 👌 Wide angle portraits really put alot of emphasis on the location. Areas around my neighborhood aren't too photogenic so i have to do more focus on the subject and blur the background 😅 maybe if i lived in a nicer location it would draw me to wider angle lenses, interesting. I have been doing astrophotography every now and then and would love to see a 1.8 prime and how it affects my exposure settings. Good luck with your new prime! I hope to get my 50 1.2 soon. 🤞 and now kidding about the cold wind oof!
Yea man, I wasnt happy with B&H there for a little while, but at least the packaging was sturdy but not wasteful. i'm still surging for a smaller mom and pop or small chain to give all of my business to.
I've been eying this lens for quite sometime; however, because of its price, I always price I always find myself getting something else. One day... Enjoy it Mr. ZWade, THE ZWade, and ZWade photo!
I’m was the same way Yamen. It’s something I wanted, and totally worth every penny, but there are others thing I wanted first. With it being on sale, I just had to take the opportunity while it was there.
Right on my guy! I love when people watch lens video when they already know about it. I like watching people enjoy stuff that i enjoy using. Thanks for watching Peter!
I look at this lens from time to time but I have held off buying one because my interest in it would be for Astro photography which is one Genre of photography I have yet to pursue. Due to light pollution I don't live in the best environment for using it unless I'm on a trip. Hope you get a bit of use out of it and enjoy it, thanks for sharing.
Yea man, if you don't regularly do astro, landscape, or specifically love scenic portraits it' kind of a collector piece because it is great and it's nice to have really good stuff, but it's not so that you would pay 800+ to not use it haha.
@@ZWadePhoto I figure I can use my 14-24 f4 for landscapes anyway since I am not shooting wide open anyway or I still have an old F mount Tokina 16-28 f2.8 as well.
I think the consensus is the 20 is marginally more sharp. But in my digging I may prefer the black and white rendering of the 24. Maybe I can rent one and side by side compare.
No joke Zwade, I am no longer ordering from adorama because their packaging on lenses is poor compared to b & h. Because of this fact alone I am ordering from b&h moving forward. I have had some printer paper ruined from adorama packaging and it was a hassle to get them to make it right.

It’s pretty long haha I’m similar I’m not caring much about a lens’ size and weight. All about performance. Thanks for commenting

I have the 20mm and it spends a lot of time on my Z5. I love all of my Z lenses, but the 20mm f1.8 and 24-120mm f4 are my favorites. Great review 👍
Thanks buddy. Yea the 2o is the shiznit.
I use mine for landscape , so how fast it focuses doesn’t matter to me, love your videos

@@ZWadePhoto Excellent, Will you be able to do some indoor lo light setups? And maybe with some crazy stage lights that love to mess things up?
@@JRodPhotoArt probably not. The upcoming videos are a test of overall image quality
Hi, great video. Did you try it during the night for shooting stars ? or astro ? Is it good with the Z5 ?
It works great with the Z5!
I don’t shoot hardly any Astro. I have friends that do enjoy this this for Astro though!

looks like a great lens - nice shots
It's pretty sweet so far! Thanks for watching charles
I think I've already decided what glass to buy for my 40mm/f2 and 24-120mm :)
That's whats up Roman! enjoy
Love your videos. My favorite Z lens in the wider area is the 24mm Z. I use it for full body portraiture. Looking forward to your review on that.
Thanks for watching. Unless I can find one for rent I don’t know if I will review it haha I looked at both before choosing the 20mm

The 14-30 is a fine enough lens, absolutely great actually. But the 20mm is probably too 3 best lenses in the Z line up
Wow, what a lens.

I mentioned in video. I’ve been enjoying wide angle portraits lately. So why not get a 1.8 prime

I’m curious have you tried sun stars with this prime lens as compared to any of the zooms for the Z camera in wide angle? Thank you.
The original f mount 20mm had the same flare
