    Susan, you have done such a wonderful job creating Corliss's story. I really enjoyed listening as I sewed this afternoon. And those examples of the day robes are STUNNING! It's crazy to think they never saw the light of day outside of a home.

    SusAn,
    Love your stitched stories! Didn’t we all as young children want to be around the older girls or listen in to the adults when they were talking amongst themselves to hear or learn some new things or hear some gossip!
    Oh just love secrets in the stitches, looking forward to more :) .
    What a nice job your husband did on the tin hexagon template, thumbs up to being interested in one of those!
    Thank you again for all the I formation you share and your time!!

      Oh that’s so kind!!!!! I really endeavor to make the stories and the lives of these girls as real as possible!!!! My girls are fictional characters, but the samplers and quilts we love were made by real people and their lives were interesting and worth remembering. ❤️

    Loved watching you this morning Susan your wonderful story telling to teach us about historical stitching and seeing your progress on the pieces we are both stitching on. Your adaptations to The Old Scott are wonderful- I haven’t yet leaped into to much of making changes to samplers but I love how it gives such a special connection for you to these pieces. The Old Scott is beckoning me now💞💖 🧵🪡

    This was wonderful, Susan! I loved seeing all your stitching - you have been busy! - and your bird framed by hexagons is just stunning, but listening to Corliss' story and the fully realized journey and personality that you've crafted is so interesting. Huge yes to more Stitched Stories, I enjoyed that series for Mary 1840 so much!!!

    Susan, your videos are just wonderful. You are a great storyteller and I appreciate all of the research you have done and are sharing with us. I love your adaptation of the old Scot-I actually like yours better than the original. I am interested in a tin hexie. I am excited that you are expecting the scissors in the near future and I look forward to receiving mine. Yes, please continue the stitch stories-you are a natural at telling us the stories of a time long ago. I can just picture Corless with her aunt and all of the things she is about to learn. Thank you Susan-you are a delight! It's 2:30 am, but when I saw that you had a video up, I had to watch. Pam Miller

    Hi Susan, I so enjoy your sweet craft/stitching videos. The history is so interesting. I think you mentioned looking for some KY patterns. I don’t know if you have run across this in your research, but Shaker Village in Pleasant Hill, KY (between Harrodsburg & Danville) have shown a couple of classes/programs about cross stitch this year. I haven’t spent a lot of time exploring it, but it sounds so interesting and thought I would pass that along to you. It looked like there may be some antique samplers, but didn’t have success coming up with any patterns. I am out side of Louisville, am not the best, but I try quilting, EPP, cross stitch, embroidery and crocheting. Thank you for your Floss Tubes and all the other goodness you add to it. All the best! Sheila. PS I also found a website that is “Antique Kentucky Samplers” that might be of interest in your exploring.

      Oh Sheila, thank you so much for your message and kind comment. I am delighted to know someone who has some ideas about Kentucky. I have not run across the place that you were mentioning but I am definitely going to look into it! I’m so glad to know you like to keep your fingers busy with everything including cross stitching and quilting. I find it irresistible! Thank you so much for joining me today, I enjoyed hearing from you so much.

    Love your work on the full coverage. What count are you stitching on? Oh and your right! My dad was born in 1929 and he was telling me just recently that he has a picture of himself and he is around two or three and he’s in a dress.

    • @susanstandleystitchintime
      @susanstandleystitchintime  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello. I’m so glad you asked that question. I’m Stitching on 37 count Legacy linen corkscrew willow. I find that linen to be very consistent with the thread width. I didn’t go to a higher count because of all the over one and I’m so glad! It is tight enough on 37 count.❤️

    Hello Susan. I really enjoyed your show today. I want to tell you that I really liked that quilt you are starting. The one with the sinner and you are changing it around to make it your own. If you ever have some thing of that sort That you would offer as a block of the month or however you wanted to handle it. I’m all in. I would call myself a seasoned Quilter. Not as good as you by any mean, but I really truly love looking at your quilts looking at your cross stitch and listening to you share about textiles. I do it in increments. But when I saw that hexagon with the center in it, oh I just fell in love with that. And I decided to tell you if you do this, I would be more than happy to get it from you however, you offered it a block of the month or whatever, I would like to have it because it talks to me and learning about the little girls who live back in the day is also very interesting. And I like the way you break it up into different parts so that we are not overloaded with so much information on how people did things back in the day. It helps me retain it better I think, but I just wanted to share this with you and hopefully you continue doing these things because it’s very nice. You are truly gifted and your ability to quilt and Crosstitch.
