@Amy Barragan Rodriguez lol nice! Good job for knowing how to save up money. I'm 13 and I can't help myself to save. Even if I really really really really really want something. I always end up spending my money once it reaches like 20 XD
Charlotte ES maybe they can’t work. Maybe they’re not old enough , maybe they can’t get a job. Maybe they have multiple kids and are too busy. Maybe their work doesn’t pay enough. Maybe their other expenses are already thousands of dollars and they’re just getting by. U think ur clever but really ur just ignorant 🤷🏼♀️
There’s absolutely no reason anyone should get a 12 inch MacBook. It’s underpowered, overpriced and compromises every feature compared to the others. If you want a portable laptop just get the 13 inch MacBook Pro without Touch Bar (only $100 more than the MacBook Air and it’s more powerful), or the MacBook Air if you really love Touch ID. Otherwise just save up for one of the MacBook Pros with touchbar. They’re the laptops you need for more intense productivity (especially the 15 inch model)
Bloo The real world performance between the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro are identical. There’s no difference unless you want to specifically do CPU or GPU intensive tasks. The screen difference is also very minuscule as well. I did notice a difference in brightness but it’s not near as big of a deal as people make it out to be. They both seemed to be nearly equal in color accuracy as well. Both speakers were absolutely brilliant as well. There’s more advantages to the MacBook Air as well other than Touch ID being the battery life, 3rd generation keyboard, and the wedged design that feels nicer on your palms when typing.
I waited for the 13” Air announcement and opted to purchase the MacBook 12”. The Air was only 0.25lb lighter than my Pro and substantially underpowered compared to my Huawei Matebook X Pro (which weighs the same as the Air and Surface Pro). The screen on the 12” gets a little cramped, but I love the portability. For extended use, I switch to the Pro 15” or SB 15” If it’s going to be your only laptop- then definitely get the 13 or 15” Pro (depending on your need for portability). If you’re purchasing a light-use, computer for travel, then check eBay for good prices on the 12” MacBook. You can get a 2017 model with 512gb of storage for half the price of the new Air.
The MacBook line in pretty muddy now they need to get their line straight again the MacBook vs the MacBook Air doesn’t have a clear separation or audience. It should be MacBook Air < MacBook < MacBook Pro for features and price, or just get rid of the standard MacBook and have the Air be the baseline entry level model. Other than updating each at the same time each year like they do with phones I don’t see how they can stop confusing the line and stepping on their own toes with each refresh
Agreed the MacBook is smaller, lighter, and thinner than the air which makes no sense 😂 people would associate those words with “air” so they should just rename them. It would also make More sense to switch the names because it would give the MacBook more features (Touch ID and the larger and better screen) while making the air the “air-y-est” out of them all. Or like you said, just discontinue the MacBook. There’s no reason to but it over the pro as I’m sure most, if not all, bags would fit both of them 😂🤷♂️
People are forgetting that when MacBook Air was launched it was a premium product. It became an entry level macbook after several years because it was never updated significantly. So naturally the new Air won't be an entry level MacBook, but a premium one. Although initially I was excited about the new Air, but now I am just disappointed.
As a marketing assistant and going into college to business administration I say get the macbook air, unless you're going to be editing a lot of videos you won't need the power of the macbook pro. Theres only been a few times I've noticed that I wanted more brightness, but overall I usually have my brightness at half bright unless I'm photo editing and I don't have a problem. Also, for volume, most of the time you won't need to go past half volume for it. If you don't need a touchbar or video editing the macbook air will be perfect for you. Coming from someone who is constantly typing, editing, and watching videos. I would definitely recommend this for a student as well. And the battery life is AMAZING on this laptop.
As a cheaper option I just picked up the 2015 13” MacBook Pro, 8gb of RAM, 256ssd, i5.. works fantastically; has 2 USB A ports, a hdmi port, lightning ports and an SD card reader which is a god send for someone who’s into media production.. £800 grade A refurbed and it’s genuinely great! The light up apple logo on the back & Macsafe charging are nice added extras too. If you have a little more cash I’d get the 15” version of the 2015 if you can!
@Bishwas Mishra of course it's worth it. You won't notice any difference in performance and you also get the ports as well. No need to use dongles. I bought it from Apple online. Unfortunately it's not sold anymore. You may need to look for 3rd party sellers.
Sergio Marquez All of them are great for tasks like office work and social media. The MacBook Air would probably be the best because of the price and battery life but any of them will work just fine.
Also take a look at iPads. They’re obviously good for social media and with a keyboard case (for the Pro and Air models) you can do efficient office work too. iPad is also gonna win portability and mobility wise and be cheaper. However iPad doesn’t have the full MacOS experience that the MacBooks have, so if that’s important an iPad isn’t for you.
@jd hamiltonYT Invest in a cheaper non apple laptop or if you have a lot of money buy a medium sized gaming laptop. Just my opinion I have nothing against Apple directly it's just I feel that they price their products for a few hundred dollars more than a computer of same spec or and quality would cost. Their laptops look great externally but they won't impress for price internally.
I’ve gotten a mid 2010 MacBook Pro and it works just fine, it runs high Sierra and though having to repair the battery, it now works great and will work most things you need for school, business etc :D I’m using it next year for homework etc
i am buying the 13inch touch bar macbook pro. in my local electronics store it's selling for 1399$. And i know i will be able to keep this computer for a long time so it's the best choice becauss the macbook air is only 100$ cheaper.
I've been researching this whole day because school got canceled looking for what I should get. I want to graphic design and like draw and make stickers and such. I've looked at iPad minis, iPads, iPad pros, and laptops, and every time I search something up I scroll down for your video. Thank you so much for making these in-depth videos, I'm sure I speak for many people when I say your videos help so much and are by far the best. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Elizabeth
There are three tones on your MacBook Air you must have got the one without Retina display but the other two have Retina display and the MacBook Air also has a better processor than the MacBook, and also has the same processor as the MacBook Pro and they both have the same processor and have good beat sound and the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air mostly have same quality
I am also thinking of getting the same model but let us know if you encounter any problems with most of all, the keyboard and the SSD or logic board. There are so many reports of both as big problems for this model, which is why they are much cheaper.
For the First time i bought apple product i.e mac pro but dont know any thing about it. What i want to know are 1. Do i really have pay for insurance? 2. What video player from where should i download to watch movies? 3. I have movies on my window, how can i easily transfer those to mac pro and watch it easily? 4. Which headphone and usb adaptor? 5. Microsoft word or other? From where? 6. What backup should i use? 128gb is too low. So External hard drive or cloud or sth? Haven't opened the box yet, should i return 2017 pro or exchange with 2017 air? Or stick with it?
Backpacking Villager hi I had a MacBook a few years ago and will be upgrading soon, yes you really do want the insurance because trust me you don’t want to pay should something happen. Mine developed a staingate and luckily it was covered by AppleCare. Otherwise it would’ve really hurt my bank account so go for the insurance I can’t stress it enough
Baby McGee we have chromebooks in school and they’re literally all broken after a year- granted maybe other brands of chromebooks are better but I’d prefer something that can actually install things not just browse the web, and a little more powerful than a chromebook lol
Great video, as always, but no thanks to all of them. No SD card slot. No MagSafe. No LED on charging cable. No way to that butterfly keyboard. No extension power cord included in the box anymore. No glowing Apple logo on back. And on the 15" model, they didn't even take care to include 1 USB-A port, which is pretty crazy as that would eliminate a dongle seeing USB-A is still ubiquitous today and will be 10 years hence. The only decent Mac that's somewhat affordable these days is the iMac. It's only disadvantage is that it's not portable.
That's why I really love my 2017 Air with 256 gb SSD. I've slotted a 400 gb SD card in the SD reader. Holds my music collection. Both USB ports are being used fulltime when at home. Keyboard types really nicely and yeah that lovely glowing Apple logo :) Only downside is the 1400x900 pixel tn panel. I can live with that. The Air is being used most often at home. And it's hooked up to an external display. For the few times I'm on the road the tn panel is sufficient.
I bought two 2017 MB Airs for my kids educational needs this summer and they love them. The low resolution screen for educational use is certainly NOT a dealbreaker, and you have a set of very practical ports, a great keyboard, MagSafe, an LED on the charging cable, and the extended power cord in the box. Too many millennials reviewing MacBooks these days don't get the 2017 MB Air enough credit only because they deem it's screen "old tech unworthy if anyone's dollar." That's totally nuts.
@@JDW- I totally agree with you. Kids these days. Let them brag about their stuff. I'm just very happy that I don't have to buy lots of dongles to hook up my USB 2/3 hardware. Single USB hub does the trick :)
People talk too much crap about the MacBook air 2018 but actually bought a 256GB with 8GB of ram recently and it runs my apps perfectly, opens Photoshop in 5 seconds, no lag or hiccups while working PSDs, same for Illustrator running AIs, it runs everything smoothly, so no complaints here from a designer perspective
That screen brightness on the new Air...ugggh, why?! Is it possible that this is going to be addressable by a future software update? It's such a nice machine but all I see on every review is how dim the screen is. It feels like Apple is doing something somewhere to keep it dim to keep that battery life number higher, on paper it's the same brightness as the 12" MB
It’s still pretty bright. I was in Best Buy and it looked perfectly fine in that bright place. I did notice it’s not as bright as the pro but it’s not a significant difference, and didn’t notice a difference with color accuracy. Speed also felt identical. They’ll be just as fast unless you want to specifically do CPU or GPU intensive tasks. Speakers sounded pretty similar too. I prefer the Air over the 2017 Pro for these reasons: Battery life Touch ID 3rd gen keyboard Wedged design (feels better on palms) $100 less
@@pissedoffhoneybadger3733 I like touch ID for my phone, but if I have a full keyboard, it doesn't hold any appeal for me cause typing in my password is second nature to me and I'm most likely already typing.
I really appreciate your videos. They're professional, informative and honest. They're also super helpful for helping who feel lost and intimidated by pushy salespeople.
Hi everyone. Hope my opinion will be helpful for someone who doesn't know which mac he(she) wants to buy. I bought Macbook Pro 15" 2018 4 days ago. It has only one downside - battery life. Battery holds between 6-7 hours of browsing without enabling the dedicated GPU and setting up the screen brightness to the lowest value. If you'll set the brightness to max, MBP 15 will last about 3-4 hours of web browsing. Important note, I had about 60 web pages opened in Chrome so it might affected on battery lifetime. As for the performance - everything is perfect so far.
Why do I even Get this video recommended? I’ve already bought the MacBook Pro 15 inch (Mid 2018) maxed out, except storage 1TB. (No Vega GPU) To be honest, it’s a very GOOD product, but price/Quality hasn’t always been the best.
15" for me, after many years of processing photos on a 13" Mid-2012 MacBook Pro. Oy! Quite the difference - No more "hanging" and crashing. Not sure if I'm a believer of the "true tone" setting on the display. It seems to make the image too "warm" for me, especially for photo editing. I'm curious to hear others' reactions.
Just one small question, is the 2nd Gen keyboard for the 2017 MBP a deal breaker? Because I cannot afford the 2018 model, so wanted to go for the 2017 one however if the keyboard is such a big issue then would go for Air '18.
It can get really annoying with typing. My friend has the MacBook 12 inch and his backspace a lot of the time does not work. I would recommend getting the air.
Personally I think the Mac 2017 pro is great so far haven’t had any issues. I do youtube it has no problem rendering 4K onto youtube. And I don’t see the keyboard as a big problem. I got it last year for $1300 from Black Friday with Microsoft word and stuff
Tim Grain Will the discount increase in summer? Because you can still buy a macbook with a discount on the Apple Education. I’m looking to buy a macbook pro 2017 ntb myself for university, would you recommend to wait until summer?
I get 6-7, I upgrade and getting 9-10 with the same workflow in a 15" , and 12 with a macbook air, even the macbook pro without touch bar is better with up to 9 hours @@Jifran
I still have my 13” MacBook Pro 3.1GHz 16GB of RAM 512 SSD with turbo boost and a keyboard that works refuse to upgrade until they fix the issue with the keyboards
I just bought the macbook pro for school but I wish I had bought the air because the pro is so much heavier and thicker. Also, the dealership I had bought mine from only had the space grey color which is the ONE color I didn't like. I was hoping for the sliver but I recognize how lucky I am to even have one.
I bought a 2018 15 inch MacBook Pro in August and I’ve still had issues with the audio cracking, even with wired headphones, despite the updates they’ve been putting out. I’ve gotten two replacements, three MacBooks total, all brand new each time and the same problem occurs. I’m debating on going to a 13 inch because I need to bring my MacBook to school but I can’t use it with the speakers crackling.
I’d probably get the air because it’s super thin and I’m not going to heavy programs just do school stuff but I do love the MacBook pros better screens but they are also more expensive
Thanks a lot. I am a designer on the move. I am looking for portability but also need a good display and performance. I will go with Macbook Pro Non Touch Bar one.
Thanks dude, good info. Video,I was a Mac user but Apple has remove all the usb, card reader enz now I use Windows go for the high end Razer Blade 15 with touch screen enough power for everything 👍 keep looking forwards! ✌🏻️
@@benjaminanderson6016 That is fine. I know that Intel is struggling with even the 10nm, but I do not want to get screwed over again. I can wait up to 5 years with my current Macbook pro, I am just a student anyways, I do not edit videos except in some occasions.
Me too! But how big of a difference is it really in everyday use? And does anyone know how much better 2017 MacBook Pro Touch bar is compared to new MacBook Air?
Great review man. Just bought a 12 inch MacBook. Primarily for portability. My previous MacBook was a 2014 Pro (8gb ram, 256gb, I5). For the 12 inch MacBook I got 16Gb ram, i7 500 Gb SSD. Bought it from the Apple store as a refurbished and save nearly $500. Goes better than my old MacBook Pro. Geekbenched it and got 4200 single core and 8200 on both cores.
Just throwing my two cents in, just my own opinion, having a small recording studio the 12 inch macbook is perfect as there is no fan noise due to an absence of a fan
Thank you very much, still thinking about the 13” pro 2017 w/o touchbar or the 13” 2018 with a touchbar, thats bcs the the performence gap is pretty big and the 2nd and the 3th gen keyboard. Im from the Netherlands and i work in an electroshop, i i can get a discount. We pay 21% more in the Netherlands, so the prices are here: 2017 w/o touchbar is €1609 2018 with touchbar is €1998 I can get it cheaper 2017 €1450 2018 €1750 Wich one should i choose?

There are three tones on your MacBook Air you must have got the one without Retina display but the other two have Retina display and the MacBook Air also has a better processor than the MacBook, and also has the same processor as the MacBook Pro and they both have the same processor and have good beat sound and the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air mostly have same quality
Thank you, having watched all macbook air and air vs pro videos of you and at the end I finally chose Macbook pro w/o touchbar 13’’ :)
Great choice! We would appreciate it if you use our links :)
I am also thinking of getting the same model but let us know if you encounter any problems with most of all, the keyboard and the SSD or logic board. There are so many reports of both as big problems for this model, which is why they are much cheaper.
denniszenanywhere Sure I would, I’ve seen them too, I hope there won’t be any problems :)
AppleInsider I’ve looked them, but I live in Turkey, I’m gonna buy it from Amazon Turkey :)
I went with the 13" MacBook pro w/touchbar. Bought it refurbished from Apple. I wanted Touch ID
Getting the air and the pro touch at
Great video. Awesome camera work. This is the kind of video I needed.
For the First time i bought apple product i.e mac pro but dont know any thing about it. What i want to know are
I got the MacBook Air for Christmas. Its my first computer it’s honestly amazing.
(I recomend it)
@Baby McGee for basic stuff like you just mentioned what would be the ideal laprop?
Baby McGee they’re asking you
Baby McGee we have chromebooks in school and they’re literally all broken after a year- granted maybe other brands of chromebooks are better but I’d prefer something that can actually install things not just browse the web, and a little more powerful than a chromebook lol
Omg let them buy a macbook, we dont give a heck about the 150 CoMpUtEr if she wants apple she gets apple.
Soo overpriced but ima get one for cs
Just bought a MacBook pro 13 inch touchbar 512 and loving it already
Thanks for this, I'm going to save up for one but I had no idea which one
I just picked up a new fully spec'd MacBook 12" 2015 for $422! Upgraded 1.3ghz, 8gb ram, 512gb ssd. Honestly such a great deal I couldn't pass up! :)
You can't increase brightness with software . Tech community these days.
Still brighter than most other laptops
It’s still pretty bright. I was in Best Buy and it looked perfectly fine in that bright place. I did notice it’s not as bright as the pro but it’s not a significant difference, and didn’t notice a difference with color accuracy. Speed also felt identical. They’ll be just as fast unless you want to specifically do CPU or GPU intensive tasks. Speakers sounded pretty similar too.
I prefer the Air over the 2017 Pro for these reasons:
Battery life
Touch ID
3rd gen keyboard
Wedged design (feels better on palms)
$100 less
@@pissedoffhoneybadger3733 I like touch ID for my phone, but if I have a full keyboard, it doesn't hold any appeal for me cause typing in my password is second nature to me and I'm most likely already typing.
@@pissedoffhoneybadger3733 Love that comment! perfectly sums up my onw thoughts - so now I will go with the MacBook Air :)
I was regretting buying the 13 inch, but the air that is new isn’t color accurate which makes me relieved
I have the 2018 15in MBP and I only use it for light web browsing, document editing, file management, and basic coding atm. lol
The perfect one for me is MacBook Air! Thanks. 🤗Love from the Philippines 🇵🇭
What about Giveaway of all macbook
What's the difference between thunderbolt port & type c port or are they just special name given by Apple.?
Very helpful video, thank you. Thank God I watched this before buying the 12 inch mac
We've got your back :)
Y didn't you include the 2017 air? It's the only one that does what it says. No broken keyboard, no t2 crash, no overheating :))
Gal Helman how about the one on 2017 MacBook Pro, 13”?
@@APRAJITASINHA361 same with that one.
Gal Helman thanks a tonne!
Personally I think the Mac 2017 pro is great so far haven’t had any issues. I do youtube it has no problem rendering 4K onto youtube. And I don’t see the keyboard as a big problem. I got it last year for $1300 from Black Friday with Microsoft word and stuff
Which gold is better? The MacBook Air one or the 2015 Macbook?
What about old MacBook air 🤔
Still being sold by Apple. And I just love my 2017 Air :)
Im getting one of this but I don’t know which one should I buy.
Which one is better for a college student
Tim Grain Will the discount increase in summer? Because you can still buy a macbook with a discount on the Apple Education. I’m looking to buy a macbook pro 2017 ntb myself for university, would you recommend to wait until summer?
I'm a Secondary Student, I got the MacBook Air 13' (2018). I target on the weight and nothing else.
The 13 pro 2018 battery life is a deal breaker it may be powerful but also have the lower battery life of the five
Really ? I get 9-10 hours out of it
I get 6-7, I upgrade and getting 9-10 with the same workflow in a 15" , and 12 with a macbook air, even the macbook pro without touch bar is better with up to 9 hours @@Jifran
The only thing I don’t like about the 15’ pro is how small the keyboard is
Best video on the internet to finally decide what to buy this black friday. Thank you!!
Make sure to use our links if you buy one :)
Tu as pris lequel du coup ??
I still have my 13” MacBook Pro 3.1GHz 16GB of RAM 512 SSD with turbo boost and a keyboard that works refuse to upgrade until they fix the issue with the keyboards
2015
Instead got a 2011 MacBook Pro with 4 gb ram that I upgraded to an 8 gb, because I don't care about thinness and I need a disc drive.
I just bought the macbook pro for school but I wish I had bought the air because the pro is so much heavier and thicker. Also, the dealership I had bought mine from only had the space grey color which is the ONE color I didn't like. I was hoping for the sliver but I recognize how lucky I am to even have one.
I wanted to choose 13” macbook pro without tb but they dont have pink. So yuh.. im still sticking to air
Tsai Nicole you can always put a pink case on it! That’s what I did!
Oh girls, yall are tho thilly!!
Thanks I’ll be getting the iPhone 3rd gen
*I want a 13 inch Macbook AIR in GOLD (not pink!) gottammit!* 😭
LoVe To LaUgh i just got mine wanna switch😂😂
I bought a 2018 15 inch MacBook Pro in August and I’ve still had issues with the audio cracking, even with wired headphones, despite the updates they’ve been putting out. I’ve gotten two replacements, three MacBooks total, all brand new each time and the same problem occurs. I’m debating on going to a 13 inch because I need to bring my MacBook to school but I can’t use it with the speakers crackling.
This video is indeed the best review on Apple Macbooks. Thank you very much for this video.👍
I’d probably get the air because it’s super thin and I’m not going to heavy programs just do school stuff but I do love the MacBook pros better screens but they are also more expensive
Someone is giving me one of these for free and after seeing the price tags, I'm confused as to why.
Nice video!
Macbook release from 2016 only has type c and we always had to get extra USB c hub to connect with USB3.0 or SD card or HDMI.
Good review dude. Thk u. Just got myself a mcbk pro 13” quad core for the best bang per buck
Thanks a lot. I am a designer on the move. I am looking for portability but also need a good display and performance. I will go with Macbook Pro Non Touch Bar one.
Great video! I love these products i will buy the Mac air when i have the money. Thanks man! :)
Glad to help :)
13" with Touch bar has the updated keyboard, 4-core CPU, no GPU that will fail. The best.
Thanks dude, good info. Video,I was a Mac user but Apple has remove all the usb, card reader enz now I use Windows go for the high end Razer Blade 15 with touch screen enough power for everything 👍 keep looking forwards! ✌🏻️
the touchbar is rediculous. a Virtual Escape button?!! Instant writeoff for the Pro
I am still salty that apple released a 13 inch quad core version after I bought last year's touch bar model. Agh..
I will not upgrade until intel releases their 7 nm CPUs.
@@twistedoracle1144 Uh that is gonna take a couple of years. Intel is only on 14nm right now. You're thinking of Apple's A12 chips, which are 7nm.
@@benjaminanderson6016 That is fine. I know that Intel is struggling with even the 10nm, but I do not want to get screwed over again. I can wait up to 5 years with my current Macbook pro, I am just a student anyways, I do not edit videos except in some occasions.
TwistedOracle feel you but its not that severe of a problem - for me atleast
Geekbenched it and got 4200 single core and 8200 on both cores.
noncopyrightmusic thats a good one
Saving up for one.. But don’t know which to get.. someone Help! 😬😬
Nikki T you should get the MacBook Pro 13 inch it will last you a long ass time
Ok but why do the MacBooks have a headphone jack like Apple don’t know damn well we don’t have those type of headphones anymore
Because there are a lot of people who use it daily and miss it in their phone
All I want is a 13 inch non-touchbar macbook pro with touch ID (similar to the air) and 4 ports and quadcore processor and 3rd gen butterfly keys.
Every MacBook is over $1k... do adults really be making that much bank 😭
Stop crying start working
Just throwing my two cents in, just my own opinion, having a small recording studio the 12 inch macbook is perfect as there is no fan noise due to an absence of a fan
Dang the 12” MacBook got no love man
Because its the shittiest laptop for the price you're paying. Look at its abysmal specs lol
The rest blows it out of the water by miles.
I miss the og days when everyone had old phones, iPads and MacBooks. They were my favourite. I have an old MacBook Air and in my opinion it’s the best
We pay 21% more in the Netherlands, so the prices are here:
2017 w/o touchbar is €1609
2018 with touchbar is €1998
I can get it cheaper
2017 €1450
2018 €1750
Wich one should i choose?
2018 of course!
From the best and honest iPad pro reviews to this, I've been really impressed with this channel lately 👏🏻
He’s leading us to the
15. Inch pro😂
what you think MBP 2015 ? buy or not?
Apple: 2012 MacBook Pro refurbished for only $1899, cables for $99.
I need a laptop for schooling and for editing videos, don’t wanna spend too much money but a good amount. Any suggestions?
