yea, as a marimba player i think it's kinda hard to memorize some distances with 4 mallets. Let me explain, for example, when you play piano, your fingers are in direct contact with the keys, wich i believe makes it easier to develop muscular memory and distances, etc. But in the marimba, you are not only not touching the keys at all, but you are also using an extension of your hands (mallets), wich I believe makes it difficult to get some intervals right, because it's all about where you put your body when you face the instrument and memorizing distances beetween mallets on each hand according to the interval you want to achieve. Marimba masters like Ney Rosauro often have some false notes on their performances, but idk, i think the true talent comes when you can hide those false notes and just keep going. (srry bad english, im from SA)
