Great video and design, especially the captions and lighting up the cursor. I definitely had to be experienced with Illustrator to follow your tutorial, so I feel like anyone who is just getting into it might have some trouble tho.
Thanks for teaching such simple effective and easy to follow techniques. Keep up the good work. Hope you'll teach us more! It was very exciting to experiment and create with your help! :)
Now if I want to give dance motion of one step just loop back and forth to the girl, please link me to such a tutorial of you if it shows simple one frame like this with repeating simple animation movement to character
First, Create Brush Shape, In my case it is *19px Circle Shape* with White Fill. (I'm sorry which part I accidently forgot in video). So After making 19px Circle shape, Drag it into Brush Panel and Choose Scatter Brush. Apply these settings: for Clouds 00:56 and for Stars 02:39 Brush stroke size matters too. so keep it low for smaller stars. Good Luck.
What is happening at 29 seconds where the rectangle is selected, the Selection Tool goes to the "path" on the top edge of the rectangle, mouses up, then the top most color of the gradient is selected as the fill color? Thanks.
This is useful for beginners like me but I wonder how you get that workspace settings, I mean I can't get it what should I click because my workspace is basic from Illustrator. I dont know how color that even backgroubd box ?
To get the idea of this illustration, first You should see the videos of "Artboard tool", "Eye dropper tool" th-cam.com/video/2KT6HtK4oCY/w-d-xo.html And "Gradient Tool"
Great but why you didn't showed the clipping mask for limiting the vectors with in the artboard? How should we save this work without getting those outside artboard shapes?
Thanks. I made the separate video for Clipping an Artboard in better way: th-cam.com/video/drXfL1H-OYI/w-d-xo.html For Saving your work ALWAYS use Export from File Menu. & Choose your Artboards from that Export window. By this way Image won't have extra things which are outside the Artboard.
I made this at 1280x720 BUT if you want to make this & PRINT it? then Don't do anything before watching this video: th-cam.com/video/bp28K3WsfRw/w-d-xo.html Here I've explained resolution & PPI confusion beginners tend to have.
1:28 - Can you help me, how to select one square box like the tutorial? Everytime i click to the edge of a square box, it choose all of square boxes!!! And after that, you click the delete button, right?
It is a great tutorial however, I am so stuck at the expand appearance and then the next step. I am following it exactly and its not working at all for me. When I delete it deletes everything, I am left with nothing. I understand why you are doing it but I just can not get it to work.
On 01:08 i see u select cloud and artboard then try reselect again, how can u just select the cloud and exclude artboard to selected? And how to move center point on eclipse shape?
Hold Shift & Click on the selected object to deselect it. On 05:38 , it is not center point of eclipse shape, It is the Center of Radial Gradient. Just activate Gradient tool (G) and you will see that Handles.
Vector Slate | Graphic Design Tutorials thank you for explanation, wanna ask something again. How to hide the path on artboard created by eclipse shape? Did i miss something? Sorry for the noob question.
Thanks I've learned quite a bit I kind of gave up because I didn't see any star appearing on the art board but I kept messing with it turns out the stars were off the art board that's why.
Hello my friend, can you please explane me how did you make these stars ,i tried to made this Brush ,but something is wrong, dont know what.Hope so you will help me .
Yes I can help you with that. First, Initial Brush Shape matters, In my case it is *19px Circle Shape* with White Fill. (I'm sorry which part I accidently forgot in video). So After making 19px Circle shape, Drag it into Brush Panel and Choose Scatter Brush. Apply these settings: 02:39 Brush stroke size matters too. so keep it low for smaller stars. Good Luck.
Then i suggest you first try Scatter brush on another empty document. Make a 19px radius white filled circle shape & drag it into brush panel (F5) > Choose Scatter Brush from PopUp box > Apply the parameters I've shown at 02:39 (Pause there) > Click ok > Now make few random strokes with brush tool. *Always*, when something messes up take a *separate empty document* and try there again.
Only solution is *Ungroup* that shape (if it's grouped) & then make sure you are not selecting White Cloud Shape while sampling. And still If it is getting selected, then deselect it *before* going to "Select>Same>..." did you get my point? 🤔
Hello, Great work! I really enjoy your videos. My question is, you are using very simple and artistic effects and enhancements such as gradient, grain textures and stuff so how do you arrange it if you need to print this artwork? When I print these gradients and effects my outcome looks really bad.
+Click Gaming Yes. I have your answer. When you create new Document, on New Doc Properties, Set your Document profile for PRINT, and your required resolution. Please Confirm These options down there: Color Mode: CMYK, PPI: 300, Raster Effects: 300 (IMPORTANT, because this is the one your current file lack of) Hit Ok and you are good to go :) Good Luck.
If your artwork contains only vector objects then you don't have to worry about artboard size. You can export whatever size you want after it's done. But you need a standard size though. because smaller artboard will cause you some problems in drawing and moving object. Here I kept mine: 1190px x 840px (A3) If you are gonna print whatever you create than I suggest you to keep a standard print size according to your paper size. and don't forget to set PPI to 300. For the screen, use 72 PPI. So, my quick answer to your question is any size above 1000 px or 4 inches is fine for doing just RnD. Deciding the right output form & size should be the very first thing. I hope you've got your answer :)
Alright...having issue creating clouds. I went about it my own way originally, got nowhere. Came back and set it up per the video and what happens is when I select the paint brush after setting the splatter brush. What happens, is the shape is just splatter all over. It doesn't blend to create the cloud haha. I'm self taught mostly so anyone got any tips or based off my vague small description can point out where I'm messing up? Great video though thank you.
+Madi Garcia Thank You. You might have set Spacing too much. Spacing & other parameters are relative to document size. Do you have same sized artboard as mine? Try playing with spacing. Good Luck.

hi! i just love your works. all ready clicked on the bell icon. i have one Question, is there any way to get your workspace profile. its neat and comfy. mine is so messy ! :( [my monitor is 21 inch]
I do not use the same fixed workspace ever. One thing is for sure that I keep the palate windows at the same place for speed and convenience. I suggest you to first familiarize with all the panels and then remove them all from your workspace. then bring them one by one as per your need. So there won't be anything that you are not gonna use. And please memorize their toggle shortcut keys to keep the workspace Wide & Clutter-free. Sandi A. *Ctrl/Command + H*

Sandi A. Good you solved it. Ctrl H just hide path in artboard. Not from rendered image. It is useful if you want to hide distractions while working.
