But that's fantastic! That's a really brilliant idea! Tomorrow I'm going to buy myself a lathe, an oxyacetylene torch with the relative cylinders and, maybe even a laser engraver, so when one of the dies that my father left me as an inheritance thirty years ago breaks I'll know how to replace it and save money so I don't have to buy a new one! Now that's a real money saver! Only I have one doubt: if instead of brass or bronze, I tried to thread steel, what would happen??? Oh come on!!!!
Oh man those drilling operations. Wouldn't it have been much better to pre-drill and then use something like a boring bar? Or an endmill? Aren't drills kind of rough for this sort of thing?
Now make one with the Adjustability to go from a class-2 thread to a class-3 thread. It would just take a couple more machining steps to complete. By the way, what kind of metal did you use?
Schwachsinn.
Not worth the efforts for standard sizes. Regarding the quality: I bet he *has* good quality standard sizes and build M10x1,5 to compare his piece with what is in his set - seems a valid approach to me.

Good idea to help yourself in a pinch. If you want to split hairs the tolerance on a tap and die is slightly different but can see it being helpful.
Like the use of a circlip as a stop !

Quenching in gramma’s candy dish, love it 😝

Exactly, I would have used a reamer to finish those holes.
Oh it's good for brass and aluminum
Nicee... I saw first time making this one type of die🙂
Me gustó mucho ....te felicito !
Nice video it gives me inspiration for a trapezium die
Thanks
Cool!

Spannend 😍💚
Its very very good
Quality dies are made of high speed steel. This one is not and will quickly dull.
You can just harden it yourself and oil quench if it’s just a punch and will last long enough and just be replaced when needed.
if this material is tool steel, then quenching in water is not suitable.
1:20 geile Idee,danke😊
Gloves near a spinning drill ... no thank you.
Agree.
Yep
Good👍
sehr schon perfect vielen dank fur tecknik du gut machen 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹👌👌👌👌👌👌
I wonder how it would do with 4140. Regardless, it’s pretty cool
Case hardened ????
V nice
Excellent😍 amazing engineering👌
Afiar broca 😮😮
Bel lavoro una filiera lai tipo cementata
excelent... what steel is used?
Thread file works good
Please try with MS material for threading

That’s pretty cool 👍

What kind of steel?
water hardening.
Would be interested also - chips look not like mild steel...
❤❤❤❤❤
Dlaczego hartujesz w wodzie, a nie w oleju?
Is this hard enufgh

Mentione the measurement in the subtitle...

Do you realise how cheap these are to buy .
Think out of the box: With what you learned you can create rare thread cutting tools (threads with low pitch or even multi-thread tools).
Not worth the effort, and probably not as good as one made by a reasonable quality manufacturer

Says a person who has probably never made anything..ever
@@mooreevairfo sure.
Stop being so American
Read all the comments. This is a good project to hone your lathe skills. Thanks for the video, really enjoyed.
Why invent the wheel? These dies are very cheap and the "technique" is not simple at all.
Have you seen how large farms are in Australia. Hours to the nearest hardware store.
WHY????
