VISUAL LEARNING IS EVERYTHING! THANKS! A KNITTING NEEDLE WAS USED FOR THE LARGER LOOPED STRANDS. This instruction helped so much since my work is rustic too, but still pretty enough for gifts.
I have made this several times, but used my wire jig to make the long row of loops. This design looks great framing a cab. Thanks so very much for the tutorial!
Roberta Russo Your welcome Roberta! We're glad that you enjoyed the video. Our new site has just launched. Head over to www.jewelrylessonvideos.com and check it out!
I have to say this isn't the first time I've watched this I refer back to it often, everyone loves the look and it's simple once you get it and looks better each time I do it. Thanks a bunch
Wire wrapping without the mystery and drama! God bless you for your simple and straightforward, yet brilliant tutorial. You could give classes on how to give classes!
I like Dale Armstrong's method of measuring the pendant wire by wrapping a string around the stone and then trippling the size from that. Much more accurate.
This more rustic type of wire wrapping, functionally does hug the stone as it is supposed to. It would certainly beautify an irregular piece of beach class or river rock. The sturdiness of the piece makres it a nice, enviableand presentable gift.
YOU ARE A GENIUS WOMEN!!!! So rad, love this idea. It would be even cooler to wrap the wire before you start the loops for more texture. This is so exciting....

Good video, I made my first cabochon wrap tonite, watching you and it came out perfect, absolutely perfect, I was shocked, as I am not a detail person, but this is beautiful....and I already have it sold....how good is that....thank you for your videos!
Thanks Georgescu! We are working hard to release a bunch of new videos at www.jewelrylessonvideos.com. Please join our mailing list at our site so we can keep in touch!
cahochon and wire all wrapped around the cahonchon. What I did was weave the wire on the sides to make it look a little nicer. Thank you for the idea. Sorry for the space accidently pressured the button.
very pretty. I have two thoughts whilst you were wrapping the 26 guage wire. first I was thinking you could put another thicker wire with the looped wire and then once wrapped take it out leaving the two looped wires with a gap to enable bending the two under and over the stone. and send I thought you could use bulldog clips and helping hands.
doreen watson-read Great idea; thanks! I was trying to wrap the 26 gauge leaving some space to allow for the bend around the cabachon but your idea is perfect!
There must be a better way of connecting the two looped wires and creating the bails because it ends up looking very messy. The pink wire under the bail in particular looks like it has been unintentionally tangled around the pendant. I do like the cage though just wondering how to make it look tidy?
The instructions were easy to follow, thank you. The bail and the top of the pendant doesn't look very tidy, it looks unfinished. Any ideas how to make a nicer finish?
+Rozy Roan Using the same color would definetely help. And more practice, the person doing this doesn't seem to have that much of it. I would absolutely not post a tutorial unless I got a better result myself.
Great video! I'm a teacher and am watching lots of videos taught by other professionals like you so I can someday star in my own video tutorials. I hope you don't mind, but I would like to add a few tips and tricks. I am an incurable perfectionist so I make each loop with the wire crossing over itself in the same direction(either all to the front or all to the back). It probably isn't necessary, but does come out a little cleaner looking. Also, if you have a pair of stepped round nose pliers, you can make each loop the same size by always forming them on the same step. If you only have standard round nose pliers, you can mark the jaws with a Sharpee and form each loop on that mark. If you don't have enough wire left to make a bail like yours, you can always use one wire to make a loop with a bit of a stem and then wrap the other wire around it. Your bail will only have one loop, but it will still work. You can always jazz it up a bit by wrapping it with more of your 26 gauge wire, forming a coiled bail. If you really want to get fancy, you could even wrap the loops of the bezel or add crystals or beads to the loops or along the edge where the front and back meet. It all depends on how much time you want to spend and how you want your finished pendant to look. Thank you so much for your great work!! :)
Thanks Carol!! We are working VERY VERY hard to release a BUNCH of new videos on our site! Thank you for your wonderful comment and also if YOU are interested in being featured in our videos and you can make it to the Chicago IL. area contact us at webmaster@jewelrylessonvideos.com. Thanks again!

Your welcome Melissa! New video is going to be posted tonight for everyone! It will be called: Faux Stained Glass Bead Pendant Tutorial. Be sure to check it out!
Chandra Williams I found that 16 gauge was too stiff, as well. I used 18g, and it worked a bit easier for me. My hands don't work very well (bad joints since childhood), so I have to "work around" most projects in life. Have you tried with a different wire? How did it work? I'm a beginner on wire work, though have been putting beads on "beading wire" for a few years. If possible, add some photos for folks to see :-) CHEERS!
Connie Cassidy, I ended up using 20 g since I could not locate any 18 g and it seemed to work fine. My wraps were a little messy and I cut the wire too short, so I made another bail. I don't know how to post a pic though....
I love this, but I'm finding a real lack of tutorials around for front to back top drilled pendant beads which seem to be the way they are being drilled. Do you know of any that are more then just making a bail for it?
TheDarkladyelf The dark, thanks for the post! I will reach out to Susan and see if we can make a tutorial for you about this idea. We are excited to soon be launching "Accessory kits" for all of or videos where you will be able to purchase most of the key supplies needed for each individual lesson right from our site www.jewelrylessonvideos.com. Keep an eye out! Thanks for the comment and also for watching our lessons!
JewelryLessonVideos.com You're welcome, love Susan's tutorials :) I'll keep watching you never know when inspiration will hit and I end up combining techniques to figure out what I want LOL!! I have 20+ front to back top drilled pendants that I need to get finished for selling and keep hitting blocks LOL!
It’s way too messy for me, I’d want to make the loops the same size and properly round and I’d want to join them together much neater and that bail would be properly formed and much tidier. Not my idea of a nice bezel for such a beautiful stone ☹️
I thought that for the looping of the wires and other rather long parts you could do a time lapse. It would still get the point across but the video would be shorter. Just a suggestion. :)
Very Very nice. I'm anxious to try it. I would like to say, tho', it's confusing when you pick up and put down your tools before the actual step. This is meant to be a constructive comment. Thanks, 1926lady
1926lady Thanks for this input lady. We will work with the artists a little more to address this issue and I will also watch my shooting to make help make this issue more clear!
1926lady how was it confusing... she showed you what tools she was using, they all have their own look... why not watch more and she said what she was using...
Why would you use pliers with teeth, on wire? That is a sure fire way to damage the wire and leave ugly marks behind. The tutorial was insightful otherwise.
this had me cringing as I watched it. I was like "nooo, ur all over the place." having the loops she made not in uniform at least how she was making them. with placing the wire in the back and in the front instead of all toward the back. 🙈 lol

I agree, I made this with criss crossing the wires and making the loops. Came out just fine!
The instructions were easy to follow, thank you.
The bail and the top of the pendant doesn't look very tidy, it looks unfinished. Any ideas how to make a nicer finish?
+Signe Mauritzen maybe use the same color instead of a contrasting color. And practice?

I did this wrap and it came out really good. But the sides I had to do differently after I got it on the c
great vid!! did you use only one piece of 26g wire when you were binding the two sides??
Thank you and you made it look easy
Beautiful. thank you for sharing.
Thank you. Very helpful ideas.
Perhaps, you should try to use a jig for more professional looking loops. Thanks. :)
i was thinking the same thing

Where do you find nice stones like that?
