It is also why Brennan was depserate to help Xaden find a way to reverse the progression and non-judgemental. We never really have him and Violet have a conversation about it because she suffers from A severing the bond not long after, so we assume it is out of loyalty to Violet he is doing this. But he has skin in the game and this is really why he is trying, he is desperate to save his lover (Naolin) too. It is also why Tairn never speaks of his previous rider. He isn't grieving, he is ashamed that the one he chose turned dark. And it likely almost killed him for another reason (like N almost drained him or he suffered because of the changes in his rider) and why he was so reluectant to bond with anyone again despite being the the 2nd most powerful dragon, next to Codagh. It is also why he chose Violet, bonding a rider that can accept weaknesses and limitations and would sooner die for what is right than win the wrong way. He felt what Violet showed set her apart from a standard issue rider that could be tempted if not powerful enough. Yes you could argue she’s just referring to bodhi being xaden’s family but Rebecca always foreshadows and leaves little Easter eggs there when you re-read her books. In the first book violet says to xaden before they sleep together that she takes the fertility suppressant and xaden says he does too but they slept together on the isles where magic and that doesn’t work? Another possibility is they haven’t been taking it, considering Xaden is avoiding being physical with her so he doesn’t lose control and channel and given all the craziness happening with everything that’s going on violet may also have forgotten to take it? Then she talks about how tired she is throughout the rest of the book after that scene in the isles. Early pregnancy symptoms? I think she even mentions nausea at one point? Also xaden marrying her would make their heir legitimate. Also I don’t think either xaden or violet know she’s pregnant if she is, I think he was only marrying her so she could rule aretia because bodhi has turned venin. Also I was re reading iron flame and when violet saw andarna at aretia after resson she mentioned the word iridescent. It was there all along and we didn't notice . Yes! I had the same thought. Bodhi knows he can't nullify signets as a rider to a venin so he became a venin to help xaden maybe with control. And tyrrendor needed a leader therfore the marriage to violet.

I think marrying had a double meaning, I think it both gives her Tyrrendor and protection but I also think that he had them do something with his soul and preserved it inside the Emerald. Jewels are mentioned a lot in the series and I'm wondering if they will have more purposes than we know of. I'm also wondering if both Bodhi and Garrick turned because they have a plan to Xaden to infiltrate from inside and Violets new signet will allow her to communicate information with them while they sleep. Andarna is also going to be way more important with her different colours and ways she feels when she changes. Gah! I loved this one and I did feel way better in this compared to Iron Flame but also a ton more questions!

Hi! She didn’t ask for Bohdi specifically, she asked for Xaden’s brother meaning his Venon brother Jack Barlow…at least that’s what I understood from it. Also, I think they got married because Bohdi pulled from the source (we know someone close to him did) and he didn’t have anyone he trusted to lead Tyrandor after that. And I’m pretty sure earlier in the book he made her promise to keep tyrandor safe when she knows he goes too far

I don’t think it was Bodhi who pulled from the source but Garrick. In Imogen’s chapter he leaves saying he’s going to find a way to do something. He’s also one of the missing riders at the end.

I think it’s him channeling. 2) Xaden planned to marry Violet already BUT Bodhi being venin means he has no one of his family in the line of succession anymore and the province would fall to someone king Tauri chooses, which would be a desaster, because of his stance on the refugees. So he NEEDS Violet as Duchess and rightful ruler.
You missed that they were talking about Jack, and that Theo killed him. And she was referring to Theo when she said the best of us. I reread multiple times and it was put there for suspsense of thinking Violet was outmatched and was going to lose. Hence why we had a Rhi chapter to make it build up suspense-wise.

Just finished 10min ago and while I’m shook about the ending, it was honestly kind of obvious that it was about to end like that - I just expected Xaden to go full Edward Cullen „I have to leave because I really will hurt you this time, so I’m breaking up with you“, not to just disappear… but I expected Xaden to go and leave Tyrrendor in Vi‘s hands. Also, I’m pretty sure that Xaden somehow permanently encased his love to Vi under the ice and that’s how she’ll track him down and get him back to the surface. Apart from that: - happy, relaxed Xaden was fascinating - Halden, really Vi? - I love Ridoc and I felt so relieved in the kitchen scene where both look at each other all „oh yes, I feel it too. But we’re together so we’re both okay“ - good on Dain for continuing his redemption arc - Aaric continues to become more nuanced, exited to see where he’ll end up - we still haven’t seen Tara? - I wish we got to know Quinn better - I thought Consort meant professional/ serious mistress or something 😅 - the isles „belonging“ to different gods was an awesome idea and it was interesting to think about different customs and lifestyles resulting from that - Theophanie was an interesting villain and the solution was great, but I feel like she let Vi go too often and too easily. Classic case of „Voldemort waiting till the end of the school year to really try and kill Harry“ vibes. I mean yes, she wanted Vi to turn, but she gave her too many chances to leave the fight unscathed… - wtf Panchek? - hope to see more of the Irids in book 4 - Xaden took 3 other riders with him, right? And one of them is Garrett (no surprise there, although I didn’t expect the particular context) but who’s the other two? Bodhi probably (since Vi is responsible for Tyrrendor) but Imogen is here and Quinn and Liam are dead, so who else does he trust? Sloane? Another person we don’t know yet? Or is Rebecca throwing a curveball and it’s going to turn out that Dain left or something? - thought about it some more and the dreamwalker thing will become more important because she can basically look into people’s heads/ see them at their most vulnerable. And the venin guy KNOWS that because he seems to be answering her in Xaden‘s dreams. Maybe they don’t really want her for the obvious powers but her clandestine ones?

I think Violet and xaden have made a plan to save him and incase he doesn’t make it he wanted to get married coz he trust her to be in charge if he dies like a queen can if the king dies and theirs no heirs unless her pains and headaches are worse coz she is pregnant and doesn’t know it. I think Violet asked to forgot the last 12 hours for the plan to work maybe she can’t know what was planed plus if someone wanted to hurt her for info she doesn’t have it now maybe she figured out a way to save venin

Rebecca hasn't given us a lot about the gods in her books thus far. This is the first book that gods are mentioned so prominently with all they bring. My theory is that Dunne will play a HUGE role in curing Xaden, as she is so often mentioned in this book and Aaric's premonitions. Maybe, before the dragons had to gain control, there were actual physical gods/goddesses, and the people channeled from them by being dedicated to them as children. Once, that was outlawed, things changed and people started going for the source, thus turning venin. I don't think the first dragons wanted to bond, they had to because of the venin appearing after the gods' disappearance. Dragons consider humans inferior and their magic is natural(from the source), so the dragons had to bond, so they could imbue their riders with the magic needed to defend their kind (signets, wards, etc.) My theory is not complete but we see that Theophanie can be killed by a dagger from Dunne's temple because she deserted her god and was considered a heretic. I think gods in this series will actually become characters, if not in person, but in power and we really need Violet's grandma's story to know for sure. I don't believe irids are what stopped the venin in the first place (they are a peaceful breed) but someone who was chosen by Dunne, bonding to an irid, like Violet. Andarna says she waited years to hatch, just for Violet. I don't think it is because of her bond to Tarin or lightning but because of how she was born (there are still mysteries about it) and her (almost) dedication. I like my theory, but it worries me because it makes Andarna absolutely invaluable for Violet (which has been hinted at.) This means that Rebecca might sacrifice Tairn and if she does that I will RIOT! (pun intended)
The point of getting married was to make Violet the Duchess of Tyrrendor! This implies Bodhi - the second in line for Tyrrendor's Dukedom turned along with Xaden, so the only option was to make Vi the Duchess. Xaden is shown to have thought something along those lines after the scene where Violet diffuses the fight between Navarrians and Aretians + Fliers in Basgiath with her speech. Someone commented that Vi would make a great politician with that kind of speech skills and Xaden comments that she would be a Duchess at the very least.
I think violets headaches in the isles is likely supposed to mimic POTS it’s a heart condition often associated with EDS. A trigger for many people is heat so being in a whole new tropical environment could hit someone really hard, I often struggle just to visit Florida with it.
I was reading the comments and someone said it could be Liam and he survived and was healed like how Jack Barlow was and that’s the broth Xaden couldn’t kill it’s either Garrick or Bodi or Liam for shock value just because I love Liam so much he might not be dead

It’s obvious why she had her memory erased. She doesn’t want to remember this wedding because Xaden is still Venin. She will get to have her true ceremony after he is cured and she gets her happy ever after.
I was thinking that Violet was getting dizzy and having headaches and feeling weaker was because Xaden may have been accidentally taking her power a tiny tiny bit when they were together or while they slept. To me it seemed like she was worse when they slept next to each other, and Brennan said and Rodic mentioned that they thought Xaden was further along being Venin than when Jack was mended by Nolan. So maybe he wasn't meaning to but was accidentally channeling when they were together but it wasn't enough to completely drain her. I also wonder how Violet was able to communicate with Tairn and Andarna on the isles, and no one else could. Maybe some how one of her signets from either dragon helps amplify power without the power from the earth, or perhaps maybe because she was touched by Dunne has something to do with it?
It is because if anyone tries to read or truthsay her, she has plausible deniability and doesn't access their plan and what they are hiding for whatever reasoning. She asked Imogen to do it. There is a reason for this. She has done it intentionally to protect herself and Xaden.

Also you should reread the part where Violet poisoning, Xaden’s mom and husband, and all of those people because you said you skimmed it, and that part made me like oh shit has some ruthlessness to! Of course, there’s probably other reasons that they got married but the note that he left said “it’s all yours now” so she now rules your Tyrendor as Xadens wife.
Bohdi turned so he can take out the bad guys because his power only works on whatever he is, so he can’t take the throne and clearly Xaden can’t keep it, which is why they got married. I’m guessing erasing her memory is so that the assholes in charge can’t decide she shouldn’t have the throne and take her power from her? If she doesn’t know what happened, nobody can steal her memory or whatever and use it against her. I think it’ll all be a big puzzle that she and Xaden set up for her and she’ll spend part or all of the next book piecing it together as she figures out little bits of knowledge, just like she has in every book.
The reason why she’s married is so she can protect xadens providence/people and do the right thing. She’s a leader and maybe boddie is like “nawh dawg”
I actually thing Dunne will have something to do with figuring out Xaden's situation, especially considering Violet's connection to that specific Goddess.

@ I agree with violets memory idea but reading the part about Garrick needing to figure out what to do and when he helps Imogen he hangs his head and won’t look at her. It also says the color fades beneath them after he picks her up.

I've a teory, in one of last chapter, Xaden has a convertation with Sgayl, and they talk about Tairn's permission, and if Xaden broke the connection with Sgayl and now that "it yours now" includ Xaden Dragon?
Xaden classes Bodhi as his brother. So if I read it wrong & it wasn't Jack Barlowe or his Sage he was referring to, then my guess would be Bodhi. I'm not sure it would be so altruistic for Bodhi either. He didn't have a 2nd signet like most of the rebellion kids and then he found out his huge powerful signet doesn't even work against the Venin!💥 He might have felt completely worthless.😢 OR Brennan is my other thought but I need to re-read again!😉

I think marrying had a double meaning, I think it both gives her Tyrrendor and protection but I also think that he had them do something with his soul and preserved it inside the Emerald. Jewels are mentioned a lot in the series and I'm wondering if they will have more purposes than we know of. I'm also wondering if both Bodhi and Garrick turned because they have a plan to Xaden to infiltrate from inside and Violets new signet will allow her to communicate information with them while they sleep. Andarna is also going to be way more important with her different colours and ways she feels when she changes. Gah! I loved this one and I did feel way better in this compared to Iron Flame but also a ton more questions!
Oooh definitely interested in the jewels thing - we know we can imbue stone so jewels might be able to add an extra element of magic!!

Hi! She didn’t ask for Bohdi specifically, she asked for Xaden’s brother meaning his Venon brother Jack Barlow…at least that’s what I understood from it.
Also, I think they got married because Bohdi pulled from the source (we know someone close to him did) and he didn’t have anyone he trusted to lead Tyrandor after that. And I’m pretty sure earlier in the book he made her promise to keep tyrandor safe when she knows he goes too far

I don’t think it was Bodhi who pulled from the source but Garrick. In Imogen’s chapter he leaves saying he’s going to find a way to do something. He’s also one of the missing riders at the end.
I think it was Garrick! Go through and reread the part where he gets Imogen out of the building… that whole part seems very interesting and points to it being Garrick.
@@theshafferlife5188I personally think it’s Bodhi, because of two clues. 1) Imogen describes in her chapter that she sees Bodhi retching on all fours on the ground. I think it’s him channeling. 2) Xaden planned to marry Violet already BUT Bodhi being venin means he has no one of his family in the line of succession anymore and the province would fall to someone king Tauri chooses, which would be a desaster, because of his stance on the refugees. So he NEEDS Violet as Duchess and rightful ruler.

And she was referring to Theo when she said the best of us. I reread multiple times and it was put there for suspsense of thinking Violet was outmatched and was going to lose. Hence why we had a Rhi chapter to make it build up suspense-wise.

Just finished 10min ago and while I’m shook about the ending, it was honestly kind of obvious that it was about to end like that - I just expected Xaden to go full Edward Cullen „I have to leave because I really will hurt you this time, so I’m breaking up with you“, not to just disappear… but I expected Xaden to go and leave Tyrrendor in Vi‘s hands. Also, I’m pretty sure that Xaden somehow permanently encased his love to Vi under the ice and that’s how she’ll track him down and get him back to the surface.
Apart from that:
- happy, relaxed Xaden was fascinating
- Halden, really Vi?
- I love Ridoc and I felt so relieved in the kitchen scene where both look at each other all „oh yes, I feel it too. But we’re together so we’re both okay“
- good on Dain for continuing his redemption arc
- Aaric continues to become more nuanced, exited to see where he’ll end up
- we still haven’t seen Tara?
- I wish we got to know Quinn better
- I thought Consort meant professional/ serious mistress or something 😅
- the isles „belonging“ to different gods was an awesome idea and it was interesting to think about different customs and lifestyles resulting from that
- Theophanie was an interesting villain and the solution was great, but I feel like she let Vi go too often and too easily. Classic case of „Voldemort waiting till the end of the school year to really try and kill Harry“ vibes. I mean yes, she wanted Vi to turn, but she gave her too many chances to leave the fight unscathed…

Or is Rebecca throwing a curveball and it’s going to turn out that Dain left or something?
- thought about it some more and the dreamwalker thing will become more important because she can basically look into people’s heads/ see them at their most vulnerable. And the venin guy KNOWS that because he seems to be answering her in Xaden‘s dreams. Maybe they don’t really want her for the obvious powers but her clandestine ones?

I think Violet and xaden have made a plan to save him and incase he doesn’t make it he wanted to get married coz he trust her to be in charge if he dies like a queen can if the king dies and theirs no heirs unless her pains and headaches are worse coz she is pregnant and doesn’t know it. I think Violet asked to forgot the last 12 hours for the plan to work maybe she can’t know what was planed plus if someone wanted to hurt her for info she doesn’t have it now maybe she figured out a way to save venin

Rebecca hasn't given us a lot about the gods in her books thus far. This is the first book that gods are mentioned so prominently with all they bring. My theory is that Dunne will play a HUGE role in curing Xaden, as she is so often mentioned in this book and Aaric's premonitions. Maybe, before the dragons had to gain control, there were actual physical gods/goddesses, and the people channeled from them by being dedicated to them as children. Once, that was outlawed, things changed and people started going for the source, thus turning venin. I don't think the first dragons wanted to bond, they had to because of the venin appearing after the gods' disappearance. Dragons consider humans inferior and their magic is natural(from the source), so the dragons had to bond, so they could imbue their riders with the magic needed to defend their kind (signets, wards, etc.) My theory is not complete but we see that Theophanie can be killed by a dagger from Dunne's temple because she deserted her god and was considered a heretic. I think gods in this series will actually become characters, if not in person, but in power and we really need Violet's grandma's story to know for sure. I don't believe irids are what stopped the venin in the first place (they are a peaceful breed) but someone who was chosen by Dunne, bonding to an irid, like Violet. Andarna says she waited years to hatch, just for Violet. I don't think it is because of her bond to Tarin or lightning but because of how she was born (there are still mysteries about it) and her (almost) dedication.
I like my theory, but it worries me because it makes Andarna absolutely invaluable for Violet (which has been hinted at.) This means that Rebecca might sacrifice Tairn and if she does that I will RIOT! (pun intended)
I think Violent had her memories erased to protect Xaden’s location and the current plan.
The point of getting married was to make Violet the Duchess of Tyrrendor! This implies Bodhi - the second in line for Tyrrendor's Dukedom turned along with Xaden, so the only option was to make Vi the Duchess.
Xaden is shown to have thought something along those lines after the scene where Violet diffuses the fight between Navarrians and Aretians + Fliers in Basgiath with her speech. Someone commented that Vi would make a great politician with that kind of speech skills and Xaden comments that she would be a Duchess at the very least.
Maybe like a novella at some point on the wedding would be amazing!!!!❤❤❤
I think violets headaches in the isles is likely supposed to mimic POTS it’s a heart condition often associated with EDS. A trigger for many people is heat so being in a whole new tropical environment could hit someone really hard, I often struggle just to visit Florida with it.

I think the marriage is so she is in control in tyrrendor and I think its possibly because it's bodhi and not garrick who turned so he's not able to lead tyrrendor as the next in line. Maybe...
I saw a few other people comment something similar - I think y'all are onto something!! (Would be a nice moment of growth for Violet since she was doubting her ability to lead for most of this book)
EDS and POTS often have some overlap. I assume she has both.
It’s obvious why she had her memory erased. She doesn’t want to remember this wedding because Xaden is still Venin. She will get to have her true ceremony after he is cured and she gets her happy ever after.
I was thinking that Violet was getting dizzy and having headaches and feeling weaker was because Xaden may have been accidentally taking her power a tiny tiny bit when they were together or while they slept. To me it seemed like she was worse when they slept next to each other, and Brennan said and Rodic mentioned that they thought Xaden was further along being Venin than when Jack was mended by Nolan. So maybe he wasn't meaning to but was accidentally channeling when they were together but it wasn't enough to completely drain her.
I also wonder how Violet was able to communicate with Tairn and Andarna on the isles, and no one else could. Maybe some how one of her signets from either dragon helps amplify power without the power from the earth, or perhaps maybe because she was touched by Dunne has something to do with it?
It is because if anyone tries to read or truthsay her, she has plausible deniability and doesn't access their plan and what they are hiding for whatever reasoning.
She asked Imogen to do it. There is a reason for this. She has done it intentionally to protect herself and Xaden.

Also you should reread the part where Violet poisoning, Xaden’s mom and husband, and all of those people because you said you skimmed it, and that part made me like oh shit has some ruthlessness to! Let’s gooo!
Of course, there’s probably other reasons that they got married but the note that he left said “it’s all yours now” so she now rules your Tyrendor as Xadens wife.
Bohdi turned so he can take out the bad guys because his power only works on whatever he is, so he can’t take the throne and clearly Xaden can’t keep it, which is why they got married.
I’m guessing erasing her memory is so that the assholes in charge can’t decide she shouldn’t have the throne and take her power from her? If she doesn’t know what happened, nobody can steal her memory or whatever and use it against her. I think it’ll all be a big puzzle that she and Xaden set up for her and she’ll spend part or all of the next book piecing it together as she figures out little bits of knowledge, just like she has in every book.
The reason why she’s married is so she can protect xadens providence/people and do the right thing. She’s a leader and maybe boddie is like “nawh dawg”
I actually thing Dunne will have something to do with figuring out Xaden's situation, especially considering Violet's connection to that specific Goddess.
I felt like we knew Xaden was going to turn. What killed me is Garrick (I think) turning too even despite watching everything Xaden went through over these months. 😭

I think it's actually Bohdi that has turned, not Garrick and he's turned to be able to use his power of nullify signets of the venin that why Xaden had to marry Violet because there had to be someone to rule and neither Bohdi or Xaden can at the moment because they are off to destroy the venin and hopefully find a cure. I also think Violet got her memory erase so she could protect them incase someone like the sage who I think is also a dream walker couldn't access her memory to give away the plans that they have come up with

I've a teory, in one of last chapter, Xaden has a convertation with Sgayl, and they talk about Tairn's permission, and if Xaden broke the connection with Sgayl and now that "it yours now" includ Xaden Dragon?
Xaden classes Bodhi as his brother. So if I read it wrong & it wasn't Jack Barlowe or his Sage he was referring to, then my guess would be Bodhi.
I'm not sure it would be so altruistic for Bodhi either. He didn't have a 2nd signet like most of the rebellion kids and then he found out his huge powerful signet doesn't even work against the Venin!💥 He might have felt completely worthless.😢

That would be so interesting if she can sort of "suggest" things to people in a dream?? Since she acts as the POV in their dreams at times, she could act out what she wants them to do
My theory; at the end of the book, Xaden has actually been killed by the group of friends, Violet and xaden got married for purpose of having someone take over Tyrrendor and then Xaden knowing he’s too far gone had someone kill him.
I think he went to the isles. That’s why the eggs are missing to barter them for his refuge. On the isles he can control himself better because of the lack of magic.
