I think it would be interesting to hear from perhaps an MP or military investigator about the criminal world of the army or military in general. For instance drugs, prostitution, sexual offenses, murder, war crimes, etc.. You should ask how common those types of crimes are. Perhaps ask how often gangs pop up in the military. These are just ideas but if you could make these into a video I'd love you forever. I've always wanted to do something in military law enforcement.
I've had a bunch of minor traffic tickets over the past 12 years, enough to disqualify me from enlistment, BUT my state deletes any minor tickets off the record after 5 years. So at this point, all of my tickets are gone. Should I even disclose those to the recruiter? I'm thinking of just walking in with my current drivers report, and handing it to the recruiter.
@@sfcdimsdale6659 Looking up old driver records that I saved, I count 12 traffic tickets between 2008 and 2012, including a DUI in 2010. No violations in the past 6 years. My current record shows nothing besides the DUI. Thoughts?

@@angelodelgado7550 you say you have never been convicted, I hear this phrase alot from people who participated in a diversion program. As far as medical goes, your condition exists only if you tell them it exists. But with that being said, don’t join the army if you have panic disorder, severe depression, missing a leg, are schizophrenic, have heart disease, etc. Be smart about it. If you had adhd when you were 5 and were only treated for a month, don’t say anything about it. I had a guy in 30th AG reception who had panic disorder and lied about it, had a severe mental breakdown and could barely get out of bed. He was sent home a week later. Probably best he didn’t handle a gun or get sent into a war zone

I know that there is help to get in shape before basic, however I’m curious if there is a limit for that. I’ve already lost 50lbs so far, and have about 130lbs to go to reach the requirements for my height and age. I’m not in a major rush to lose weight and join, however I do want to know how long the pre-basic boot camp will help me. Or like how much more weight should I lose before I speak to my local recruiter? I’m already 30 so I do sorta have a time limit.
I repeat, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO ADMIT YOUR PAST MEDICAL ISSUES. Just stick to your answer. I have not been to the hospital or had medical issues. (Unless you have scares from a surgery, then you might have to admit)
2007 Stopped smoking weed went to a recruiter. Waited about 4-5 weeks to test. He piss tests me at the office and I'm good to go. Piss at meps and fail. Recruiter tries to get a waiver. I have to go to a psych and take a test 600 yes no Questions. Fail. (Even though he told me it's a shot but not many people pass this) Permanently blacklisted from all branches. So bummed out.
What happens if you get to basic training and it is found you have a condition that you did not know about ( Thus it is neither in the records nor could you have told the recruiter about it Will you get discharged and if so what kind of discharge will it be?
It depends on the condition. If it is something that the Army deems will not be potentially harmful or fatal to you during service, they may let you stay in. If not, you will probably be discharged with a medical discharge which is not a negative discharge. Bottom line, its up to the Doctors to determine your eligibility to stay and JAG on what type of discharge you get.
Heini Botha LOL. that's if you have a GED instead of a regular high school diploma. believe me, just about most people you see in the Army didn't have any college before they joined and many soldiers who stay past a few years still don't have any, either because a) they are dumb or just don't care or b) they do care but don't find the time to do so since the military is hard as it is but the Army in particular is rough as hell because we have to show up early in the morning to waste around a hour and a half's worth of time doing worthless group PT called "PRT" plus an hour or so later we have to come back to duty for what we have to do that day, which given that this is the Army, very often involves slave labor in the motor pool instead of actually doing our jobs plus those of us not doing that are out in the field for weeks at a time. If you want to see people with college, then obviously you need to look at the airforce rather than the army.
@@macburger5026 ahh ok I see what you mean. I understand that Army is bit hard and that you will not have time because you will be busy all the time. Thank you for the advice i appreciate it.🙌🏻
@@heinymoto You're welcome. And there are definitely plenty of folks who joined the Army who would have joined Air Force instead had these facts been emphasized to them beforehand.
@@heinymoto The AF has some jobs that do maintenance and support on planes but they also do a variety of stuff and quite a bit has to do with technology (and a lot more of their jobs translate better to the civilian world than our grunt combat jobs) which is why they get treated a lot better than we and the marines do. Definitely they have some jobs where they sit in chairs in air conditioning and do work on computers which is why we derisively call them the "chair force" And apparently, since they don't have to train to go out to the field like we (regardless of our MOS) do, a lot more of their people actually *DO* their jobs instead of serving as slave labor out in the motor pool like so many of us do. Even jobs that are in both branches (like say cook), things are generally better for them than it is for us because not only are we less likely to actually do our jobs while they are more likely to do theirs, but they also don't have to worry about the extra grief of having to do the field. There are going to be people out there that might see this as "boring" or "not real military" (I've actually heard of a few people in the AF themselves say they'd rather be out in the heat and mud like us than sitting down in a chair) but *you really need to stop and think for a second* before just scoffing at the "chair force" and just jumping into the Army instead. When you're out in the hot motorpool all day cleaning out the same storage sheds over and over and over again instead of actually doing your MOS and you're about to have heat stroke or heat exhaustion (and sometimes even in infantry gear, like heavy body armor, which the AF doesn't issue), yeah the AF with sitting down in an air conditioned office doing electronics or computers or air traffic control, etc. is going to sound really good. Or when you're out in the field (and you have to bring your infantry gear too and you better not have anything happen to any of it) and you're dealing with the heat/cold/ pouring rain and mosquitoes for several weeks and you can't bathe and wash your rear end for all that time, the chair force is going to sound really good then too. And there are *MANY* other silly things we have to do, for no extra benefits or pay, that they don't have to do. They are not completely perfect, because they are still the military, but *ARGUABLY* they have a whole lot more pros than we do, and we have a whole lot more cons than they do. And again, I'm not the only one in the Army who will tell you this.
I live in Colorado as well and have been thinking about enlisting. Do you live in the springs or denver area? I don't know why it would be harder to get that contract just based on the state.. that doesn't make a lot of sense
We were United States army JROTC Cadets when the Gulf War broke out and Desert Storm we were deployed as Cadets the city and county that we lived in refused to give us our high school diplomas even though we deployed and returned from our deployment
What if you have unpaid tickets such as a seatbelt ticket and a driving without license? These tickets were issued to me back in 2014 but never paid them .Do I have to Clear out those tickets before Entering the Army ?
I have cultural heritage tattoos on my right and left index fingers and mid wrist. Small symbols the size of a nickel. The recruiters told me I won't even need a waiver. I'm trying to sign a 18x or option 40 contract but not sure if they're just trying to get me to sign up asap. Will I get turned away at meps or later on without that waiver? Or am I guaranteed amenity once I sign my contact and pass meps?
Hey I joined the army reserves a week ago , I don’t get shipped to basic till June 24,2019 because I’m senior in highschool , I was wondering when or how can I get my military ID card

Are there any welding job type for military? and what kind of desk jobs are there? Thank you and Love your Chanel. Me and my family are debating if it would be a good Career for me or not...hmmmm
The MOS that aligns best with that would be 91E, Allied Trade Specialist. They mostly work as welders and fabricators. Another option if you are a good swimmer is 12D, Diver. A lot of their work deals with underwater salvage and underwater welding.
So just about everyone in my family has a criminal record and current or previous addiction, would that effect my eligibility to join the army at all? I personally have never gotten in trouble with the law or had problems with addiction but would my family history affect me?

ADHD is not a hard waiver if you have the appropriate paperwork and meet certain prerequisites. Send me an email at the address listed on my card and I will see if i can help.
This is very common actually. The issue that we run into is there is only so many training seats available for each job. Once they are full, we have to wait until more class dates open. The other option is studying and retesting to attempt to raise your score and qualify for more jobs.
Makes me miss my days as an Army Recruiter....no, not really. In SoCal where I was, it was tough, though not as tough as it is now. Is 601-210 still the "Bible".
Matt, since we can't ask the recruiter in this video, if you have a job say (nursing assistant) in a hospital, at what time should your two weeks be submitted after given all clear and waiting while on DEP
Kind of a dumb question but should I bring a lock to basic? Have heard different stories about if one I bring will be allowed or if I they would make me throw it away and buy one at the PX.
My brother went thru basic as an 11B and then a few weeks after basic they tell him he’s gonna he switched to a tanker unit lol. I can’t wait to join though!
Just because he is in a tank unit doesnt mean he is a tanker. Each unit has a mixture of infantry, armor, support, etc to make it more lethal and be able to sustain itself during operations
i have another question i just called the statesboro police department to ask about the total value of the property that has been stolen back in 2003, and they told me that my stuff has been shredded because it was 16 years ago. So what should i tell the recruiter after that happen?
Question for anyone out there that can help: I know that if I want to go to Airborne school I need to have it in my contract, otherwise it's almost impossible to get it. Is it like that for other schools? Like Rangers, Path Finder, Air Assault, Special Forces, etc.
Having on your contract is a guarantee you go to that school. I seen people got offered they want to go to airborne, totally depends on your situation and if there a open slot by the time you finished AIT. I was offered Air Assualt school at my offical unit. I went to air Assualt school, unfortunately I failed, noshame in failing, learn from it and move on.

Good to see so many that I've helped out commenting on here!
That sergeant’s hair is unimpressed.
I don't see a problem
I've had a bunch of minor traffic tickets over the past 12 years, enough to disqualify me from enlistment, BUT my state deletes any minor tickets off the record after 5 years. So at this point, all of my tickets are gone. Should I even disclose those to the recruiter? I'm thinking of just walking in with my current drivers report, and handing it to the recruiter.
How many tickets are we talking about and what time span did they cover?

I promise if my hair ever gets to the point where it grows like that I’m shaving it all off 😂
I don't think it's that's bad.
He needs to just shave his head lmao
I'll have to ask my recruiter about quick ship and how that works. Want to ship within 30 days of my contract.
Quick ship will show up in the system when you are reserving your job with the Recruiter. It automatically generates as an option for any MOS that has training seats that start soon and have not been filled.
@@sfcdimsdale6659 thank you was always wondering how that worked.
Hey Matt, can you please address the topic of Green Card holders enlistment process, and particularly WHY THE BACKGROUND CHECK TAKES GODDAMN YEAR. Thank you ❤️
We talk about Non-Citizen enlistment in a future video. But yeah, extensive background checks do take a long time

Going to try to get in the marines as soon as I get out of high school

Stopped smoking weed went to a recruiter.
Squishybootz how you pass his test but fail the meps piss test??
What happens if you get to basic training and it is found you have a condition that you did not know about ( Thus it is neither in the records nor could you have told the
recruiter about it Will you get discharged and if so what kind of discharge will it be?
It depends on the condition. If it is something that the Army deems will not be potentially harmful or fatal to you during service, they may let you stay in. If not, you will probably be discharged with a medical discharge which is not a negative discharge. Bottom line, its up to the Doctors to determine your eligibility to stay and JAG on what type of discharge you get.
If you want to join must you go to college first, because I heard he said something about college credits.
Heini Botha
LOL. that's if you have a GED instead of a regular high school diploma. believe me, just about most people you see in the Army didn't have any college before they joined and many soldiers who stay past a few years still don't have any, either because a) they are dumb or just don't care or b) they do care but don't find the time to do so since the military is hard as it is but the Army in particular is rough as hell because we have to show up early in the morning to waste around a hour and a half's worth of time doing worthless group PT called "PRT" plus an hour or so later we have to come back to duty for what we have to do that day, which given that this is the Army, very often involves slave labor in the motor pool instead of actually doing our jobs plus those of us not doing that are out in the field for weeks at a time.
@@macburger5026 if I can ask you, what do you really do in the Air force?? Is it almost the same as army but just in the air?😅
Definitely they have some jobs where they sit in chairs in air conditioning and do work on computers which is why we derisively call them the "chair force"
And apparently, since they don't have to train to go out to the field like we (regardless of our MOS) do, a lot more of their people actually *DO* their jobs instead of serving as slave labor out in the motor pool like so many of us do.
I really want option 40 in my contract (Rasp after basic) but I've been told by a few people it's rather difficult to get in Colorado.
I live in Colorado as well and have been thinking about enlisting. Do you live in the springs or denver area? I don't know why it would be harder to get that contract just based on the state.. that doesn't make a lot of sense
@@bobcobb158 for active duty contracts, the state you enlist from is irrelevant

I have cultural heritage tattoos on my right and left index fingers and mid wrist. Small symbols the size of a nickel. The recruiters told me I won't even need a waiver. I'm trying to sign a 18x or option 40 contract but not sure if they're just trying to get me to sign up asap. Will I get turned away at meps or later on without that waiver? Or am I guaranteed amenity once I sign my contact and pass meps?
You can definitely get a waiver for your tattoos, but it wouldn’t be able to pass to get those type of contracts

Check out the offical website of the branch you want to join; they show every MOS (JOB).

My son has a GED, a 68 asvab score, nothing with the law ever, he is adhd but stopped taking the medication when he was 15. Never married no kids and is about to turn 20. He is getting the run around like crazy and we can’t figure out why. And he has been to MEPS already.

It depends on which branch you were in previously and how long you have been out.

Can I join if I had asthma when I was little I am 13 wanting to join in the future
It all depends. I know for me it's as long as I can pass everything else I can work to get a waiver.
I think it’s only disqualifying if you had it after the age of 13. You need a waiver
Ok , I've passed my asvab and meps , I qualified for 6 jobs but none of them had training dates, that doesn't sound right to me . Is this normal?
This is very common actually. The issue that we run into is there is only so many training seats available for each job. Once they are full, we have to wait until more class dates open. The other option is studying and retesting to attempt to raise your score and qualify for more jobs.
Makes me miss my days as an Army Recruiter....no, not really. In SoCal where I was, it was tough, though not as tough as it is now. Is 601-210 still the "Bible".
As I type this I am going into the second day at Meps.
i thought this would be a crappy video but its very interesting.. wish i had watched something like this before being lost af when i joined
Matt, since we can't ask the recruiter in this video, if you have a job say (nursing assistant) in a hospital, at what time should your two weeks be submitted after given all clear and waiting while on DEP
So for prior service active duty do jobs get limited for that member
What if i don't show up to my ship date as delayed entry program

Question for anyone out there that can help: I know that if I want to go to Airborne school I need to have it in my contract, otherwise it's almost impossible to get it. Is it like that for other schools? Like Rangers, Path Finder, Air Assault, Special Forces, etc.
