Thanks for watching this video! What music must you have no matter what?

Did not know a civil ceremony would have to check the music. Thank goodness you said.

Good advice, would you be able to recommend music for the evening for self DJ (Spotify) for the reception as in what music to play before first dances, structure etc. Does and don’ts on song choices?

Really helpful, we don't want silence. Finding it tricky to choose the important tracks but I've still got time.

Tanith Davies take your time. They will mean more to you when you’ve spent time really working out what means something to you xx

    *taking notes
    guest arrival - 30/45 minutes
procesional (bride entrance) - about 1 or 2 minutes is a good length according to a venue i asked
signing the register - 3 or 4 songs
exit for the couple - 1 song should do
exit for the guests - 10/15 minutes

Is the civil wedding music tip not relevant in the U.S.A? We aren’t getting married in a church but we are religious and are having our pastor officiate the wedding.
Is a civil wedding when you just go to the courthouse and have a judge marry you?

I have a question - if we get a musician to sing, how does it work during the processional (as it won't take me 2-3 minutes to walk down the aisle!), should we let the musician finish singing and just stand at the front holding hands to wait, or should the musician somehow cut the music once we get to the front? Depending which part of the song this is at - it could be weird? Thanks :)

Speak to your musician. You will likely not begin walking right at the start of the song, you may decide to walk to the same music as your brides who may go first (it's totally up to you). But have the conversation with your musician as a professional will be able to gauge how to make it work. they will usual make the piece shorter, but it would work and wouldn't just 'cut'. Hope that helps xx

    Hi Lauren,
Great advise in the video - no idea you had to get your music approved for a civil ceremony! Quick question - we are looking at having my sister sing the song that I'm going to walk down the aisle too, however she is also one of my bridesmaids.
What would be the best suggestion for this? Let my bridesmaids walk down the aisle to something different to allow my sister to get to the front and then let her start singing to allow me to walk down?
Thanks in advance for any help :) x

Hey Sophie! Yes exactly that. Get them to go first. Have her at the front and then you can have her sing for when you walk down. Sounds lovely! ❤️😘

@@BluebirdBrideAcademy Thank you so much Lauren :) Would it be strange if I let her sing a verse or so first before I start walking, or should I get her to shorten down the song? xx

Great video thank you. Can I ask a question please.
We are getting married next year now but it all at the same place.
We have booked the registra. We are not using a church because Leanne has CP and needs a flat floor wil no steps. Both my parents are vicers,. Are you saying because we have a registra I cannot have a reading. Or have the rings blessed?
We have a mail voice choir and there are rugby songs that do have religious conations to them.
    Will this be an issue?
These things are I big issue to me?
Will I have to rethink this through.
I am hoping you can help me. What questions should I ask the registra when I go to my interview.
    What will they ask me.
What if I have to have these things.
I can compromise and have done but I am not a church go'er but I feel as my dad has passed and I was raised this way I have to have some religious conations.
    Am I asking too much?
    What should I do?
Your so helpful. My niece is getting married next year and I have referred her to your channel.
She may be your neck of the woods to she lives in Surry.
Anyway thanks for the great content and I hope you can help me.
    Many thanks
    Tony

Hi Tony. If it is a civil ceremony you cannot have religious connotation in readings or the music etc. You can still have readings but they must follow that rule. You will need to speak to your registrars to get their full advice and guidelines. Another option is to have a celebrant led ceremony (which isn’t legal, so you will need to do the legal bit at a registry office). You can then run the ceremony however you want to in front of your guests. Good luck. X

@@BluebirdBrideAcademy your so helpful thank you. I will ask the registra about it as I think my mum wants to bless the rings and a reading as our parents have done all us kids I am the youngest so the last to be married.
I will let you know how this goes if you like but at this moment I am being made to choose and for me I have to say this is a cruel and pointless desition I will be forced to make and not in my opinion the most important obligation I make here as Leanne is the most important. But I feel here we are denied what we both want because of steps. We don't expect to alter the church to fix this. We want to be legally married. But our choices and beliefs should not be certailed as we chose a safe environment to be married. Thank you so much for all your help.
You have no idea how helpful you have been to me.
      Thank you

Would anyone care to share their rates for performing music at the ceremony? I’m a classically trained US based string player and I usually play for a 30-minute prelude and approximately 30-minute ceremony, 60 minutes total with a bit of wiggle room.

I have been offered a range from about $150 - $350 per musician
