your truly are my favorite piano player off all time I never get tired of listening and watching you playing piano May God always keep you safe under His wing and Bless you abundantly I love you Evgeny
NOT TRUE! The Truth Evgeny Kissin The ice cold piano sound player Ever! The Best Schumann piano concerto players Are really 1:Radu Lupu ( The most colorful piano sound Ever! Lupu The Best first movement coda ever! Lupu The most relax player Ever Better than The stiff Claudio Arrau! The Mechanical Boring dull stiff machine player Ever Krystian Zimerman) 2: Emil Gilels ( The King of The All pianists ever! Gilels The golden tone for Schumann 3: Wilhelm Kempff ( The most beautiful piano sound Ever) 4: Sviatoslav Richter ( The Genius Richter) 5:Van Cliburn ( Why Van Cliburn because Van Cliburn better than The stiff Claudio Arrau and The Mechanical Boring dull stiff machine player Ever Krystian Zimerman) The Bad Schumann piano concerto players Are really ABM THE CYBORG HUMAN MACHINE KING ROBOT PIANIST EVER! Rudolf Serkin The cold RAW rough piano sound Ever! Marta Argerich ( The cool raw piano sound) Krystian Zimerman (The Mechanical Boring dull stiff machine player Ever)
Yes, I admire all the pianists mentioned below, each good in his own way, but Kissin's interpretation is incomparable. He has the pure spirit of Schumannn's lyricism in his finger tips.He makes the piano figurations in the last movement bubble over in a way I have always wanted to hear them. The work is not tragic, but despite its varying moods one Of Schumamnn's happiest and most fulfilled compositions. A glorious interpretation.
colin crothers I have to agree with Felix on this...an amazing performance by an amazing pianist...and so young...the world is his oyster, that's for sure.
It's like the pearl in the oyster. Think of E.A.Poe, tormented like no other, but also genius like no other. The list goes on with Van Gogh, Baudelaire, Percy Shelley ...
I really like Robert Schumann’s use of both PIANO & STRINGS almost equally in the same compositions. I think it adds a bit of flare to his work that a lot of other mid-romantic composers simply didn’t pull off in a lot of their work. Marvellous!
Evegeny Kissin is the top best pianist in the world in dhese days. It is passionate and brilliant performance. Orchestra is also lyrical and gorgeous..
every truly great artist proclaims his credentials in the same way...rachmaninoff,horowitz,hoffmann,kissin,to name a few.i think the 'personal' approach is more exciting and breathes new life into well worn works...otherwise they might as well be played by a computer.
Kissin has enormous technical skill. He has the most unfortunate habit of "pulsing up" what ever phrases within the piece he feels need affectation or attention. Often playing along gracefully, within a measure OR even a few notes, he'll ramp up the output of his grand piano, or provide exquisite extra fingering attention to phrases. This provides for an interpretation that says "I'm Evegeny Kissin" this is how I choose to play Schumann. The performance goes all over the place.
Peter Von Berg There is not such a thing as "the best" interpreter of anything. There are different tastes, different approaches, different sensibilities. The most you can say is that those versions are the ones you like best. That is all. There will be millions of people who will not agree with you on this.
I’m a huge fan of Kissin. I felt that he played this Concerto beautifully. But, for my taste, the first and second movements dragged too much. They were quite slow and I kept hoping the tempos would pick up, but they didn’t. The third movement was spot on and I only wish the first two were the same way.
This is very interesting comment indeed! If you have the time can you make an example? I'd like to understand when rubato does not make sense in this video! Thanks!
I disagree that Kissin's interpretation of this Schumann concerto is the only great one. Are you suggesting that the grsat Rubenstein is better than great Horowitz and etc.? Ridiculous! There are several great performances of this concerto. Clara Haskil, Benno Moiseiwitsch, Martha Argerich, May-Ling Kwok. They are all different but unique in their own way.
The most beautifully written cadenza in the history of piano concerto
your truly are my favorite piano player off all time I never get tired of listening and watching you playing piano May God always keep you safe under His wing and Bless you abundantly I love you Evgeny
kissin is a master of performing every phrase with peace and elegance

I love the 3rd movement of this concerto.
The first movement of this made me fall in love with romantic music ... still listen to it at least once a day. Chills.
It is beautiful, powerful and light and it is wonderful music! I am deeply moved by the sound of Evgeny Kissin and the melody of Schumann!
magic... " cantabile.. magic kissin as allways"

try zimerman

Krystian Zimerman the mechanical dull stiff machine Robot King!! Evgeny Kissin the cool ice cold piano sound! Radu Lupu the best Schumann concerto!!
.
How could a tormented man create such a wonderful piece of music!
It's like the pearl in the oyster. Think of E.A.Poe, tormented like no other, but also genius like no other. The list goes on with Van Gogh, Baudelaire, Percy Shelley ...
The answer is in the question...
How would a non tormented man be able to create this kind of art?
What a heart-breakingly beautiful piece of music. 17.50 onwards is sublime. Nobody puts more love into it that Evgeny Kissin. Bravo !! Thank you !!
Welcome to the crazy world of Schumann.
Stunning performance
Enchanting interpretation by my beloved pianist💕💖💕💖💕💖💕💖💕
I really like Robert Schumann’s use of both PIANO & STRINGS almost equally in the same compositions. I think it adds a bit of flare to his work that a lot of other mid-romantic composers simply didn’t pull off in a lot of their work. Marvellous!
Genius! Evgeny, bravo!

Zakia Hart if it’s kissing it’s brutal
0:00 is a good place to start.
And 32:10 is a very bad place to start.
Such exquisite and sublime touches!
Thanks for uploading!
This is one of my favorite versions!
Evegeny Kissin is the top best pianist in the world
in dhese days.
It is passionate and
brilliant performance.
Orchestra is also

Beautifull concert and again a great Evgeny Kissin.
Thanks, Archie.
That second movement will
bring tears to your eyes
Then a Cadillac commercial
Total spoiler of the moment!

Like it or not, he brings out every important part I want to hear in this piece. Highly enjoyale
Robert Schumann Piano Concerto, Bellissimo ¡¡¡¡¡ Grazie ¡ Thank You ¡ Gracias .
The rondo at the end of the first movement is executed beautifully. The finest I've heard.
Excellent....crisp, precise, emotional.
Evgeny Kissin
29:32 is the best for me. For me it is like sayin ' I love you" in an implicit way, repeatedly, like that IV to iii phrase
Two Genius ! Schumann /Kissin 🌹👏
counter melodies at 13:40, favorite part of the piece
Masterful....
This is such a beautiful concerto. Martha and Kissin are my two best to play and interpret
this concerto technical as well as expression.
The orchestra snd Kissin are
amazing here with such a refreshing
interpretation
I love Schumann :) and this ... oh is like dream
Amazing his playing!
I agree🙆🙆🎶🎶
Bravo!

@ 2:09 Here I believe Schumann makes reference to Florestan's Aria ("in des lebens frühlingstagen...") from Beethoven's opera Fidelio.
Excepcional... 👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you very much for upload!
31:10
what a beautiful melody
Beautiful playing
So good
Still blowing out the candles
EXQUISITA MUSICA
GERMAN QUINTERO thank you German my friend

GRANDIOSO......:)
Have a great and HAPPY new week my friend:)
Myriam Malengreau Thank you Myriam my friend. ..a good week for you also
Douglas Smith So delicate and passionate beautiful!
I like Kissin. He’s excellent. Great pace and dynamics. Brendel is untouchable, but Kissin is a formidable second.
15.00 to 16.00 Sublime!
Well done! Greets, Pianist - Norman
Unreal!
In Japan, this concert has a subtitle of "Ultra7", which is a common sense of all the Japanese people.
There is no one who can compare with Kissin!
Sorry arrau best even
Allegro affectuoso, played by Kissin'.
Now there's a ready-made pun.
It appears, hm... Schumann was a composer of genius.
Bravo bravo bravo bravo

For the record, I mentioned only two, Lipatti and Michelangeli ( With Celibidache and a very early recording when he was quite young).
A bit heavy handed, but still masterfully interpreted by the great Kissin.
i like how he played the 3rd movement.
Anyone know another piece that has anything like 23:46?
Difficult question, but maybe you could try Rachmaninov's 3rd piano concerto.
Simply a really common chord progression in harmonic sequence. I - Vsus4-3 - ii - vi sus4-3. Also present in the third Beethoven concerto coda.
Yes, Chopin E minor concerto. There are sequential passages. But very long phrases.

No comments? How will I know what to think?? :)

It's excellent but have you heard the one by Peter Serkin on Columbia? Sheer poetry.
I haven't heard Peter Serkin, but I find indeed KIssin and Colin Davis a bit dry, even if they are excellent technically speaking.
you mean Rudolph Serkin? Because yes the 1950's Serkin/Ormandy recording of this piece is classic
30:51)))))))))))))))))))
I've just listened to the Brendel. To each his own I guess.
Encontre por favor!
in 30:50 brendel should teach us how to play that chords
Bom dia!

The two best interpreters of this concerto are Lipatti and Michelangeli.
I wouldn't give such a peremptory judgements :) But sure, the tree you mentioned are great (my favorite is Lipatti btw)
and zimerman

I don't see any sense in his many uses of rubato here. Sorry, Evgeny fans.....
This is very interesting comment indeed! If you have the time can you make an example? I'd like to understand when rubato does not make sense in this video! Thanks!
here it does not matter, as in kissin performance beethoven and chopin concertos !! :)
when it makes sense to Evgeny, it makes sense ;)
Pablo Gomez Like:)) the right way..rispect for the master..
The Man from UNCLE I was a bit surprised by the sudden change of tempo at 31:11.
Faca caminhada no mesmo horario✒ voce vai ficar bem
The dislike must be due to a misclick.
